The homecoming is a book with a lot of conflicts in it between all its characters whether it be person vs person, person vs society, or person vs nature almost every character struggles with something in this story. One conflict we encounter is person vs nature and this occurs to the main protagonist clay-boy, while adventuring though the woods looking for a Christmas tree clay-boy comes across a doe stuck in a dead fall. While clay-boy was removing sticks from the dead fall and loosening the doe free an albino deer ready to mate comes across ready to attack clay. He ducked into a tree which also happened to be the one he was going to cut down for a Christmas tree, the albino deer starts slashing and ramming the limbs ruining the tree. The …show more content…
deer almost gets to clay but he acts quickly and grabs a tree limb that had feel down and wraps in leaves and lights it with a box of matches he had in his pocket. He scares the deer with his torch and with the deer staring from a distance clay-boy frees the doe from the deadfall.Another type of conflict that occurs in this story happens multiple times trough out each character but in this case it’s mostly to the oldest sister Becky.
Becky goes through a lot of person vs person conflicts in this story and it is due to her personality and character traits. One conflict she has it with her and her younger sibling patty cake, patty cake is excited for Christmas and she could not wait to receive he presents form Santa Claus and she showed this but Becky’s gloomy attitude was getting agitated and she retaliated on patty cake stating that Santa was just a myth and not real. Patty cake did not take this lightly and started whining and arguing with Becky and this upsets everyone else including the mother Olivia this goes until clay-boy steps in and breaks up the conflict and Becky stomps off.Another type of conflict the protagonist clay-boy encounters though out the whole story is person vs self. The conflict that internally with in clay-boy is that he wants to follow in a career of being an author but he is unsure if his father who is a hardworking man in the working class of society will be accepting of his career
choice. Since most of the people that come of his area follow the same career path as his father he is worried that he will be looked down upon if he does not do the same, he struggles with this the whole time since he really looks up to his father and does not want to disappoint him so he hides this from his family and friends. On Christmas Eve when his father clay comes home with gifts he had bought for his family the gift he got for clay-boy was a new note book and pen for writing stories. This showed clay-boy that his father accepts and supports his decision to be an author. The last type of conflict that occurred within this story is man vs society and this type of conflict reoccurs to most characters but most importantly it happens to the father clay. Throughout this whole story the main conflict is that clay is missing and will not be home for Christmas, Olivia is worried and send clay-boy searching for his father thinking he may be somewhere he is not supposed to be. When clay returns home Christmas it is revealed that clay was home so late because the bus and traffic was so backed up that it made it difficult to travel the long distance he had to for work because of the state the economy is currently in at this period of time.
The second conflict I found was character vs. self. Prue is fighting with herself about being able to unite the two makers of the Mobius Cog. She’s afraid that she wasn’t meant for this job and that innocent people have died for a hopeless cause. Prue thinks that she can’t save the people
In the historical narrative Redemption: The Last Battle of the Civil War, Nicholas Leman gives readers an insight into the gruesome and savage acts that took place in the mid-1870s and eventually led to the end of the Reconstruction era in the southern states. Before the engaging narrative officially begins, Lemann gives a 29-page introduction to the setting and provides background information about the time period. With Republican Ulysses S. Grant as President of the United States of America and Republican Adelbert Ames, as the Governor of Mississippi, the narrative is set in a town owned by William Calhoun in the city of Colfax, Louisiana. As a formal military commander, Ames ensured a
1. Walter - His dreams of owning a licquor store conflict religiously with Mama's value system. The conflict between Mama and Walter is amplified by the fact that it is Mama's apartment in which the family lives and Walter is unable/unwilling to make decisions because Mama is so domineering. Ironically, it is the one decision that she eventually lets Walter make which nearly destroys the family.
Children are shaped by the norms of society, which are passed down from parents or peers. Characters in Conflict is an anthology of stories about characters feeling different types of conflict. In the first story a boy experiences pressure to beat a girl in racquetball because he’s a boy. In the second story a girl feels pressure to be a normal girl and get a boy to like her. The last story is about a boy who has a disabled younger broth and is ashamed of his disabilities. All of these characters have something in common, they are experiencing societal pressure which leads to internal conflict.

Convention is an integral part to both Harold Pinter’s Homecoming and Brian Friel’s Translations , affecting both the plot and the way the audience perceives the two plays. The two playwrights explore the theme of convention in many different ways, including through the characters’ struggle to change convention, their relationships and historical conventions. The playwrights of these plays force the audience to question what they know about convention, both in a modern context and in the context of the plays, and decide what message the playwrights are trying to put across about convention.

Unlike most students that are leaders in title she was a leader of the people. For the four years that she attended the Class of 2018 club it was always the same; a room filled with arguing students that wait until the last minute to do work and every person contributed to the chaos. Her friend Micala became an officer in the club, leading the poster committee but she already saw the stress that would come with the position. The poster was the most important part of the Homecoming parade as it takes the place of floats and is what other committees revolve around.
My senior year of softball was ending; following the end of the season nominations for homecoming court were due. Out of the four seniors my team nominated me allowing with Tyler Jackson to represent softball. Crossings Christian School has a tradition of a mock homecoming court showcase were a special handshake is performed. Tyler and I spent many hours practicing our handshake. In the handshake was a mock lightsaber battle, me standing on top of him as if he was a surfboard, leap frog, and a mock slap in the face for Tyler. While we performed this in front of the entire high school, I had accidentally slapped Tyler in the face. Towards the end of that day, the actually homecoming court presentation would be showcased. The event
The main conflict is between the young man and himself. His mental struggle to accept his shortcomings, let go of the past, and move forward towards his future.
I think that anything that deals with homecoming needs to be abolished, gotten rid of, done, nothing. The second reason is because it just time wasting. My last but not least reason is that the cost of it is just too high.
Whether it’s someone you’ve had a crush on since middle school, someone you talk to in a certain class only, or someone you only see during passing period, you still need to figure out who your going to ask. Unless you don’t, and just ask the first person you see, which will probably result in utter disaster.
As a shy freshman, I wandered around the halls, struggling to find where each of my classrooms were. I assumed that every high school was just like mine, and didn’t think anything of the undesirable lunches or early start times. I looked past the trite freshmen programs that were set up for me, and school “spirit” sessions that just left me feeling less spirited than before. Going into my junior year of high school, I have become accustomed to the ways of Columbia City High School. However, along with becoming accustomed, I have become aware of different programs that other schools facilitate. Desiring the same programs, I began to think of innovative ways to change our high school.
A tradition throughout the United States, Homecoming, the cliché in movies and the most spirited time in any high school. It was with no doubt going to result in success, despite whatever the score may be at the closing of the Football game. That night was about coming together as one, enjoying each other’s enthusiasm, and having an extraordinary time.
