Jorge Luis Borge the author of the essay “The garden of forking paths” was born August
1899 and died in June 1986. He was an Argentine poet and short story writer. He was born in Buenos Aires in Argentina. His works shows a reflection of hallucinatory in all literature.
His works have contributed to philosophical literature and to both fantasy and magical realism.
During his lifetime he wrote so many books amongst which are Ficciones, Aleph and of course this particular piece, “The Garden of Forking Paths.” It is a story about controlling, unleashing and gathering survival techniques by getting and practicalizing ideas in the real world and imagination. Though the story began in a way that is more confusing but reading through it demonstrated a clear case of an indirect heroic adventure.
The main character Tsun demonstrated the qualities of an hero who was ready to give up his existence for others to live. His last minutes could actually be used for his selfish interest but he never did. He decided to give up his life in other to prove his point. Depending on different individuals. The word hero has different meanings in different settings but in a way all heroes possess certain qualities which make them different from an ordinary person. Although not every hero shouts “Avengers Assemble” before a worthy deed, heroism is shown in all aspects of the everyday world. Webster Dictionary has exactly 5 definitions under the word hero and still no two people explain heroism the same. Superman and Captain America are a glimpse of the fictional characters society titles a hero. Firefighters and Military portray heroism each day in the lives of every civilian. As Sullivan and Venter stated “individuals are referred to as ‘heroes’ for seemingly different reasons” and even through endless studies the adjectives referring heroes is ever changing. Among the various ideas of what it means to be a hero, boldness and valiance capture the essence of heroism.

A hero is defined as a person who is admired for courage, outstanding achievements or noble qualities. A hero is strong in mind and body, courageous in spirit, and selfless where others are involved. Superman and Beowulf both exhibit these characteristics. The differences between Beowulf and Superman are as obvious as their similarities.

According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary a hero is an individual who is admired for great bravery or fine qualities. To me a hero is so much more than a person who shows great bravery. When I think of a hero many fine qualities come to mind; intelligence, courage, altruism, compassion and great bravery.
