From 2008 until 2013 while at New Friendship FWB in Kingstree my mission was to fulfill the Great Commission. The major turning point that came in my spiritual walk, did not come from someone telling me the Good News. It was going to the school of hard knot that my desire came to loving God. I can attest to the book and its teaching, we now have more of our churches desiring to build monument to men oppose to God. The call of God it that we make disciples, in doing so, we come to loving mankind and Glorifying God. While reading this book I see the important of stricken to the belief that God is in control, I was able to gain knowledge of the how important it is to have a "lifestyle of walking in submission to and with God." However, while at New Friendship in spite of my conviction and quest for upward relationship even as I was pastoring. I was convince that I was in the midst of a people that had no desire for this type of relationship. I remember at one of our missionary meeting, after having gone into the community on a missionary endeavor I call the mission worker to a meeting to gain knowledge of what had been …show more content…
I even had one of the Deacon come to me after my outreach work had cause a family too become a part of the church, he ask me if they were a asset or a liability to the church. In 2013, my prayer would be answer, from the night that I was told that mission work was not need, I had been in pray. July 2013 my wife and I alone with some of the member of New Friendship would go on to organize The City of Refuge. At the City we were able to do outreach ministry with other organization to provide housing, food, and necessities for families in the neighborhood and surrounding
The Second Great Awaking consisted of new applications of religion that deviated from rationalism, which sparked promotion of democracy and freedom. The message of salvation rather than condemnation was evident in this movement as spoken by Charles G. Finney. He sought to remove sin from reformed churches and organize sinners to unity and freedom (Doc B). This practice showed the crucial democrati...
The size of the Christian megachurch is manifested in its title, which demonstrates that this typically prodigious and resplendent edifice sustains a weekly attendance of at least two thousand congregants; and that the majority of the mega churches are of the Protestant persuasion, of which its doctrine is basically the antithesis of Catholicism’s authoritarian structures, as well as the other major religions of Islam, Hinduism and Old Testament Judaism (The Hartford Seminary). Over the years, there has not only been an enormous emergence of mega churches here in the US, but also of many disparaging remarks from the public, comedians, books and the news media, about this institution. Some assert that these types of churches are not really concerned about the souls of the people, and they are prodigious only because of the avarice, a misrepresentation of Jesus Christ and a manipulation of the hearts of people, in conjunction with a gross negligence of spiritual leadership. The truth is, that in some instances there is malfeasance, but in others, the church is led by the Spirit of God with vigor and integrity.
Religious institutions have always been a fundamental piece of American culture, and their influence is evident in many aspects of American life. Especially during the 20th century, the spread of Christianity became more competitive as churches vied against one another to draw in new members. This was particularly evident in the development and growth of conservative Protestant groups. Protestant leaders responded to this competition for followers by developing radically new methods for the worship experience. They used their charisma and entrepreneurial spirit to send their messages to the masses. Protestant leader’s manipulation of these methods of outreach was able to attract many new members to the conservative protestant cause, and encouraged Americans to join these large groups of worship.
No chapter in this book is more convincing than the very first one. In chapter one Bryant and Brunson address God’s call to preach. “The church may call a man to be its pastor, but God calls a man to preach.” (Bryant and Brunson 2007, 14). The authors make it clear that preaching the Word of God is at the core of the pastoral ministry. They suggest that the call to preach is a calling from God, which may result in the obedient one pastoring a church; but, will always result in that man preaching the Word of God. All that is needed is a commitment to the Word from the one whom God has chosen. “You make the commitment. God will make away.” (Bryant and Brunson 2007, 15)
In an age when culture continues to lower standards of intellect, Marva Dawn makes compelling observations and suggestions for the Church to rethink its’ strategy on impacting society. How do we evangelize without weakening the message of what we are communicating? The majority of her text focuses on the worship environment generally, but later she focuses on music, preaching, and liturgy specifically. According to Dawn, a gathering of believers should emphasize God as the subject and object of worship, challenge each individual to grow in godly character, and accentuate the community of believers (not only in the room, but throughout history as well). Through this grid, she encourages leaders and participants to evaluate each worship element. If these primary goals are accomplished, then worship will not be empty and simpleminded. Instead the worship atmosphere would be held to a higher standard and, she believes, both pleasing to God and attractive to those who do not know God.
Religion is too rigid and has many definitions with just as many denominations. Each religion has its own set beliefs, as well as its own way to worship. Pope Francis, who was elected as the world’s top religious leader said, “The Church is or should go back to being a community of God’s people, and priests, pastors and bishops, who have the c...

For me the next steps are full time pastoral ministry. God willing, I will have a congregation of my own. I look forward to the pastorate because in my heart I know that is where I think the most transformative and world changing aspects of my ministry will occur. I look forward to awakening people’s lives with the Gospel. I look forward to joining a community and growing in faith together. I am excited because God has anointed me to preach good news. And the good news is this; all of God’s children have a stake in God’s transformational work. We are all anointed to preach good news. It is time to get ready.

I would definitely recommend this to other believers, because it is such a fun way to spend one’s time and glorify God by ministering and serving. One way I could have improved my encounter was to have prayed with Zaname one-on-one before I left, so that she knew how much I cared about her and there is a God who loves her even more than I ever could. Through this encounter, I learned that God is a sovereign God who has providence in every life situation, particularly he still loves those who are less fortunate and do not have a lot of material things. One thing that I learned about myself through completing this servant evangelism encounter is that being a servant of God to others brings me great joy. By demonstrating God’s love and grace to others through serving them brings me joy, because I am able to realize how incredible God is and see the joy that comes to the person I am
My call to ministry came in response to a question from the book of Isaiah: “When I heard the voice of the Lord saying, ‘Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?’ And I said, ‘Here am I. Send me!’” (Isaiah 6:8 NIV). Isaiah’s book is one of the more quoted books of the New Testament in Jewish history. The book speaks of the coming of Jesus and his second coming. It also talks about the prophecy on the fall of Babylon. Most of the prophets had visions, as did Isaiah.
