PART ONE- What were the circumstances surrounding your servant evangelism encounters. This particular servant evangelism occurred through Campus Serve at the Birchwood apartments. We went out as a group and then split into smaller groups to knock on doors, talk to the parents, and pray for them if they wanted us to. After this the kids went down to the playground area for us to play with them. I primarily played with one girl, whose name was Zaname. Throughout the time we were there that day I played tag with Zaname, gave her piggy back rides, went on the swings with her, allowed her to do my hair, got her water, and watched her play Flappy Bird on my phone. After a while of playing with all of the children, a lesson was done on Abraham’s promise from God to have offspring as numerous as the stars, and to one day have Jesus come to earth to deliver us from our sins. I sat down with Zaname and helped to explain the story to her. Afterwards, the leader said a prayer for all of …show more content…
I would definitely recommend this to other believers, because it is such a fun way to spend one’s time and glorify God by ministering and serving. One way I could have improved my encounter was to have prayed with Zaname one-on-one before I left, so that she knew how much I cared about her and there is a God who loves her even more than I ever could. Through this encounter, I learned that God is a sovereign God who has providence in every life situation, particularly he still loves those who are less fortunate and do not have a lot of material things. One thing that I learned about myself through completing this servant evangelism encounter is that being a servant of God to others brings me great joy. By demonstrating God’s love and grace to others through serving them brings me joy, because I am able to realize how incredible God is and see the joy that comes to the person I am
In Dr. Duane H. Elmer book Cultural Servanthood: Serving the World in Christlike Humility Dr. Elmer explains how we are to full fill the Great Commission by following the example of Jesus. In this book Dr. Elmer is calling the reader to look in to their hearts when we are making are planes to spread the gospel around the world by serving with humility.
This experience was really out of my comfort zone. It was hard to be an outsider and not prepared for what was to come and not speaking one of the languages used to understand the entire service. This service learning project gave me the opportunity to try a new church and gain a deeper respect for a different religion. Everyone at the service was very educated on speaking the sacred texts and participating in the rituals practiced. I hope to have gained a better understanding for those who are new to religions and are nervous to come to a worship service. I will make more of an effort to be welcoming and accommodating to those who are new to our church.
I spent every spring and summer in middle school doing mission work and community service. I loved the opportunity that it gave me to build relationships and share my beliefs with people I didn’t know. Little did I know that this would pave the way for a life-changing experience that I would encounter one day. Each spring my church would host a missionary event called “The Ignite Project.” I felt an urge to join the group, recognizing that it was a calling to profess my faith in Jesus. These mission trips helped me to go out
In the essay, “The Second Great Awakening” by Sean Wilentz explains the simultaneous events at the Cane Ridge and Yale which their inequality was one-sided origins, worship, and social surroundings exceeded more through their connections that was called The Second Great Awakening also these revivals were omen that lasted in the 1840s a movement that influences the impulsive and doctrines to hold any management. Wilentz wraps up of the politics and the evangelizing that come from proceeding from the start, but had astounding momentum during 1825.The advantage of the Americans was churched as the evangelizing Methodists or Baptists from the South called the New School revivalist and the Presbyterians or Congregationalists from the North that had a nation of theoretical Christians in a mutual culture created more of the Enlightenment rationalism than the Protestant nation on the world. The northerners focused more on the Second Great Awakening than the South on the main plan of the organization.
My first visit was a simple observation visit. I met with Gary and Dina at the Kingdom Hall for the 1pm Bible Talk service and the Wa...
I don’t believe that bondsmen and bounty hunters promote additional crime and law-breaking. I do believe that there should be limits to what bounty hunters and bondsmen are allowed to proceed with when it comes into bringing in criminals. Even with the amount of law enforcements on the field, criminals are able to slip by undetected and this makes it difficult enough already for law-enforcement to do their job. If bounty hunters and bondsmen have the right type of training, it would benefit law enforcements. Although civilians do not have the right to take justice into their own hands, bounty hunters and bondsmen would be acting as an extension of law enforcement with the proper training. This would help with the issue of vigilantism, since
As my friend Jenni and I entered the hall of the big church, a feeling of apprehension overwhelmed us. Our feelings were soon comforted when we entered a sea of smiling faces and outstretched hands. A sense of belonging engulfed us. Ms. Shirley, an older colored woman was first to extend her arms. She did not know us from Adam, but it did not matter. She threw her arms around us. "You girls have the prettiest smiles", she declared. "I am so glad you came to be with us this morning." Words can not describe what the act of kindness did to our feelings of apprehension, and that was just the beginning.
Many people want to attain and hold influential positions in society whether it would be in the field of science, politics, education, or in public service. However, many people tend to forget how servitude is one of the main life highways to travel in order to arrive at that successful destination called “Leadership.” Nevertheless, there was one man who knew how powerful the concept of servitude was in order to grasp the reigns of successful leadership. Socrates was a phenomenal philosopher, scholar, teacher, and servant. Socrates leadership style was unique in regards to letting students communicate among one another in an articulate theological reasoning process by questioning and probing at one’s belief system in order to seek self-purification.
The method of evangelism that I used for my witness report was the “Four Spiritual Laws.” I chose this method because it is simple straight to the point, and has facts that I believe cannot be disputed. It is also quick and simple to explain. How I started the conversation was simple actually, for a while one of my family members has been confused about if there is a god or not and the last time I came home we spoke about what I have learned down at Liberty. Thus I thought it would be a good idea to bring up what I learned during these past few weeks from this class. of course what I have learned from this class are different ways to evangelize and that is how the conversation started.
The known world was impacted by the spreading of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, which was done by the first century church with great passion. These early followers of Christ set the world on fire, by relaying the Good news of Jesus Christ, first to the nation of Israel then to the gentile world. The Bible tells us that the Apostle Peter was commissioned to bring the announcement of Christ’s death and resurrection to his Jewish brethren, whereas, the Apostle Paul was chosen by Christ to bring the Gospel message of salvation to the gentile world. The early works of the church are recorded in a series of letters that have become known as the scriptures of the New Testament.
Each time I come to the Evangelic Church something changes inside myself for the better.
I have been a part of Bethlehem since early childhood. Around 7th grade I became active in the youth group. I believe this group has impacted me the most in the church. We have taken many trips but the two that stick out to be were both in 2014. The entire year brought many fond memories and chances for me to grow closer to God. When we traveled to Memphis for choir tour we stopped at a camp for special needs kids and we got the chance to hang out with some of them one on one. The girl I was paired with, Julia, blew my mind by being so inspirational, always thinking positive, and constantly having a smile on her face. We also sang to all of them as a group and I was moved by the fact that all of the kids were in the audience dancing and singing
I was afraid, but I continued to pray and asked God for directions. Fay states, “God has called each of us to share our faith, in obedience. He has called each of us to evangelize. If one of your excuses for not sharing your faith is, “I don’t have the gift of evangelism,” then you need to examine Scripture. You find the command of the Great Commission to evangelize, to encourage evangelism, and to urge evangelism.” I really enjoyed spreading the gospel because it gives me joy. I am willing to meet the needs of people when given the opportunity. I love God and I love people. I am willing to go where God wants me to
It gave me the chance to see how other people worship or fulfill their spiritual need. I was able to see and get a better understanding of the things that go on. It seems that we all share the same goals. To be good people, listen and receive the Word of God and to go out and spread to other people what we have been
For the first time in my life I don 't just feel like a disciple of Christ, but how it would feel to be an apostle. Social ministry is what got me saved having my best friend talk to me about Jesus on the car rides home from school which prompted my education at Palm Beach Atlantic University. Social ministry doesn 't just have to be a grand gesture as we have to recognize our own ministries since the Holy Trinity lives in us. I feel like a candle that burns itself out as a willing servant to shine light for everyone who wants to see. It 's not that I 'm not living life, but I was given life and I want to give life to others. Most people I know have a certain kind of people they minister best to and for me it 's not getting people to become Christians, but strengthening the Christian walks of broken down believers. In my own Christian walk I went from being a religious hypocrite to becoming a true disciple but I can get broken down and it means the world when a fellow brother or sister in Christ raises me up again like Jesus would. I feel an even more specific calling to homeless people. I see them all over the country and I always think that could be me. I wonder why I am so blessed to have a home and a family, and what God wants them to learn from being barren of everything. I feel that ministry can be so helpful. Leading homeless people to better lives and reacquainting themselves with Christ in process. People get frustrated when their lives get thrown into the trenches however, a lot of times “that’s where God’s power comes in. God releases an explosion of His power to give you a miracle if you need one, if you believe He’s a miracle worker (Hayes 115).” People think just because things aren 't going according to their own plans that God must not be there and I feel called to confront that. Just because we don 't always see the sun shining behind the clouds doesn 't mean that it is not there
