Why a Utopia is Impossible? Is a perfect society possible? What is a community without violence, love, color, or phones to use the internet? The purpose of this essay is to inform you about utopias and why a utopia is not possible. A utopia is an island or an area that has no problems with contended borders and is basically a perfect society. There are sometime many strict rules in a utopian community. Everyone in the community gets the same education, families are traditional, and towns are well-planned with no poverty. In The Giver, it says, “Jonas and the The Giver had gone over it and over it, late into the night hours.”(pg.158) Jonas was planning his escape from the community and was trying to find Elsewhere. “The Giver” helps prove that a utopia is not possible because color, violence, love, and many other great things in life are taken away from the community. The community was not the same and ultimately failed without those great things that we have in life. Another example is in the article “4 Utopian Communities That Didn’t Pan Out.” On the second page of the article, in the Pullman’s Capitalist Utopia, it says, “The experiment lasted longer than many of the other settlements, but ultimately failed. Pullman began demanding more and more rent to offset company losses.” Pullman’s Capitalist Utopia has been one of the most successful communities, but ended due to a loss of money. The community lost six million dollars in just the first three years. This is also why a utopia is not possible due to the owner asking for more rent or for the members of the community to work more hours. Strict rules and money are more reasons why a utopia is not
