It is a very daunting question that looms over many Americans. “What does our future hold?” is the frequently asked question. When people are faced with this question, there is a lot of uncertainty. Many people do not know how to answer. Despite what many might think, America 's future is well known across hundreds of nations all over the world. America 's future has actually been a question people have asked since the beginning of this great nation and has a very important meaning in the lives of many. There are many factors that will affect the United States future. These factors include culture and education, economy, resource management, politics, and protection of freedoms. In this paper, I will give each factor a grade in terms on future …show more content…
Generally, America 's future would be thought to have no effect on our economic situation, but there are in fact some effects. Since the market crash in 2008, the U.S economy has slowly recovered. Today, the United States of America is still the world 's largest overall economy, representing 22.4% of global GDP and 16.6% of global GDP (PPP). The United States ' GDP was estimated to be $17.555 trillion as of 2014. The United States also has a labor force of 156.397 million. The U.S has also now become a primary producer and distributor of oil, which provides our nation with jobs and billions of dollars, but will this new position of strength will be nowhere to reverse the 18 trillion dollar debt we are facing? It would be safe to say that America 's future plays an important role in American economics and shouldn 't be taken for granted. To me, the economy is a glass half empty, but it is looking to be filled and the United States is taking the correct steps to do …show more content…
Every single person involved with the government has a say in our nation’s future. That being said, so do our people. One thing that must improve is our voter turnout in elections. If people want their voices to be heard, voting is the best option available. Everything that happens in politics shapes our future. The ability of the Supreme Court to review and define the Constitution and its amendments is an integral part of our future. As is protecting our civil liberties, which both of these go hand in hand. The political factor also coincides with the cultural factor. Today, we see things get very heated between different Parties and candidates. If this problem is not solved, it could be very detrimental to the United States’ future. What America truly needs is a strong, visionary leader that believes in limited government, personal freedoms and the overall greatness of American ingenuity and Can-Do spirit. Somebody that the American people can rely on to give us hope and to fight for what is right in this nation. As it stands today, our political situation is a glass half empty, but this can be changed with the right political
...ssments in various ways. What the future may prove, how intelligent they may become, with what eyes they may look upon the interests of the state in which they may reside, I cannot say more than you can.
Are black people that different than white people? This is both a question and concern society focuses much attention on today, is there cultural assimilation in the United States or does the country still remain segregated? Realistically, America has a long way to come before saying it fully integrates both races equally. Donnell Alexander, author of “Cool Like Me” approaches the topic of the prejudices whites have of blacks, arguing that there exists no cultural integration and the United States is still separated. With many lucid examples using expressive tones and personal examples, he compares the coolness of himself to the coolness of other blacks and other cultures in order to get the reader to identify “cool” and relate it as a black quality and observe it in American culture as a style and a way of thinking.
However the interest we pay on our nation 's debt is very small compared to the overall budget. According to the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities only 7% of the total budget is spent on interest which is relatively low compared to things like social security which took up 24% of the budget in 2014 (Policy Basics). As long as the United States can continue to keep the interest rates low the debt will continue to be a begin threat. If the creditors of the U.S. were to spike their interest rates, America would be in trouble, however America has fairly good credit, and it should remain that way unless there is another scare like the government shutdown in 2011 (Riley). Overall the threat of the nation debt is a very minute problem in the grand scheme of things. According to The Richest, only five nations in the entire world are completely debt free, which is astounding when you consider that there are about 195 countries in the entire world (Mathers; How Many). These figures show how extremely difficult it is for a country to run without having a certain amount of debt, and America having debt should not be a concern. America is not even in the top ten countries whose debt make up the majority of their GDP (Country List). Which means that at the moment American’s should not be overly
As we look back upon the 20th Century we see the birth of American prominence. The century is marked with glorious American achievements ranging from the birth of the Space Age to the development of the Information Age. Now, as we venture through the new millennium, the potential of further American prosperity is enormous. At times this journey will be a perilous quest, but with valiant leadership this nation shall flourish. Only the Democratic Party is prepared to guide America towards this future.
America. It was a dream come true in a New World that was envisioned by artists, politicians, and monarchs alike. The ones who believed that anything could be achieved by God, the mind, and manpower. Even through opposition from governments, kingdoms, nobles, and naysayers, these brave individuals strived to establish a better life for themselves and their families, aimed to retain a secure future in the process, and wanted to worship God in their own way.
The transformation of America is often discussed in both popular media and academic dialogue. Each generation has a name, new technologies define new eras, and events seem only notable when they are “historic”. While major events catch the interest of a broad spectrum of the public consciousness, subtle interactions between actors and slight shifts in beliefs are constantly changing the realities of the world. When the twin towers fell in 2001, the United States seemed to be thrust into a new world of Weapons of Mass Destruction, Jihadists, and a global fight against terrorism; bombs were dropped, ground forces were deployed in foreign states, and anyone who publicly questioned the urgency of war was at risk to be labeled a traitor. This one event was indelibly branded on the consciousness of the world and if often seen as a moment of sudden transformation. Most Americans believe that the troop presence in Iraq and Afghanistan are due to the terrorist attacks on the United States and while it is hard to deny that the 9-11 attacks was the impetus for putting boots on the ground, it is imperative that the chain of events following the horror of September 11 are seen to reflect the willingness and wants of actors in control before the towers fell.
Friedman also expresses his opinion on countries that he believes will succeed in the future, and which ones he believes will fail. In fact, he has an entire chapter dedicated to studying the future of a currently major power in the world - China. Friedman believes that by 2020, internal factions and economic stress will lead to their collapse and destruction as a possible major influence in the world (92). With the second largest economy in the world with an extremely high GDP of approximately $11.2 million, it is hard to believe that a country with such an economy will collapse. Although their growth has not been as significant and staggering as it has in the last thirty years, it is still sufficient (95). Moreover, China is the largest foreign
Most of us know that America is one of, if not the most influential country in today’s world. We’re also the wealthiest and most powerful. But as the Roman and Greek Empires have shown us, such nations usually can’t remain in this position forever. So, assuming this will be our fate, when will it happen? When will we stop being “on top of the world?” Bob Herbert and Alan W. Dowd provide their own answers on the matter.
Mankind has always wondered about the future and what is in store for society. The key to success

How does learning about government and America help us become future guardians of the liberties? It teaches us to be involved. Being involved doesn't mean just being involved in the latest politics gossip at school or work . Being involved has a whole different meaning. Being involved means actually understanding what is going on and stating your opinions on our government and what is going on in America. In order to be involved you have to watch the news or get online and read or read a newspaper for once. You can't be a guardian of our liberties if you are just trusting what everyone is saying about our government. Everyone has different opinions. One person might think that the government is perfect for our country while other may think
One of the most important responsibilities of our nation is to protect and serve its citizens. As the new millennium begins, our nation must overcome many challenges that affect this responsibility. Three of the most important are terrorism, illiteracy, and the lack of moral values.
The importance of American landscape painting in the nineteenth century extended far beyond the borders of the art world. The nineteenth century in America was a paradoxical time in which great nationalism and “enormous self-confidence and optimism” merged with growing disunity (Wilmerding 54), and the glow of “progress” was inextricably tied to the destruction of the majestic landscape that was a source of American identity and pride. Landscape painters at this time were faced with the difficult task of reconciling these conflicting aspects of American culture and identity. Their paintings blend physical descriptions of the American land with cultural descriptions of the American national identity.
I don't know what the future holds but I know who holds the future. Days go by and how time flies, seasons always changing. When we contemplate the future we envision mind-warping technology and global warming destroying the Earth. Change is inevitable but it's up to our supremacy what we and our planet Earth change into. Will we help or hinder our future survival? One sentence from America's Declaration of Independence has some relevance to this matter. 'But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object, evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security'. In other words if something is wrong, those that have the ability to take action, have the responsibility to take action.
In his book, The Future of Freedom, Fareed Zakaria writes that we must make democracy safe for the world. The American democracy sets the standard around the world for liberal democracies, but transitions across for other countries across the world toward a liberal democracy is often difficult and with poor decision making, close to impossible. Liberal democracies are the systems in which people choose their government and live in an environment of freedom. In Zakaria’s book, he warns the readers of several telltale signs that their process toward a liberal democracy is in trouble. He uses examples of different countries doing it right and doing it wrong- the ones discussed in this essay will be Russia and China.
