Learning new things is as easy as breathing. Everyday we learn something new. We even learn from our mistakes. Since I was a child, learning something new was an exciting experience. From fishing to riding a bike;however, there’s one in particular I consider the most memorable that was when I learned how to drive.
Driving is a necessity in life because a vehicle transports someone from one place to another and is faster than walking. I’ve always enjoyed car rides especially road trips, but being a passenger for 14 years I lost interest in cars. Therefore, I decided to become the driver. I taught myself since my mother never agreed upon teaching me, for she was afraid to drive with me. I never really had someone to teach me but myself, so I

After a few days of practice, I felt ready to tell to my mom, but I knew if I had told her she would’ve lost trust in me for using the car without her supervision. So, I had no chance to drive until my mom decided it was time to teach me, and I knew that wasn’t anytime soon. I wasn’t sure if I was ready to drive because I had never drove on an actual road I was used to just driving down the street from my house. I didn’t have much experience, but being a passenger for so long I had time to understand the rules of the road. I had to wait for my opportunity to prove to my mother I was worth driving. My mother wanted me to learn by taking driving classes which is understandable, but I wanted to at least know the feeling of driving before I enter class. Eventually, I would have permission to use the car. One night, my friend, Edgar, had spent the night, and my mother was watching a movie. She wanted snacks;however, she didn’t want to drive to Walmart so she sent my friend and I to go. I knew this was my moment, so my friend drove down the street and I took over as the driver. I was thrilled to be driving but at …show more content…
The instructor taught well, but being in a room for hours bored me to death. Within the first week, I had my first test, and I passed it with a 90. Since I passed it, I had my permit waiting for me to retrieve it, but first I needed a VOE (Verification of Enrollment) from the school. Without it I basically had no permit. So, the first thing I did was I head to the front office and asked for one. It took about two days until I got it because the principal was busy. Once I got it, my mother pick me up early from school and we went to the Dps (Department of Public Safety). We waited about one hour until I heard my number called. The lady attending me was kind and sweet. She asked for my signature so I signed ,and she took my picture. She told me in a week or so I will receive my hard copy of the permit by mail. I was so excited to hear that. All I could think about is finally being able to drive. Now that I have my permit, I needed driving hours to finish driving school. I needed seven hours of driving and seven hours of observation. My driving had improve with the class; therefore, when I finished with everything I asked if I could take my mother out for a ride, and she said yes without a
My car slows as it approaches a stoplight. I take this opportunity to allow my mind to become engulfed with my surroundings: the bright fierce red of the traffic light, the brilliant blue sky with its specs clouds, and the mass of hurried people. The four corners of the intersection are filled with people who are preoccupied with their fast-paced lives to notice the little things, such as animals and anxious cars awaiting the traffic light. My thoughts vigorously put all of the information that my mind has gathered from the intersection to order.
I was a careful driver with my parents in the passenger seat. I followed the speed limit and obeyed all traffic laws. On
After obtaining my driver's license at the age of eighteen, I quickly began to believe that I was the reincarnate of Dale Earnhardt. No matter where I was driving to or for what reason, speeding was always a part of the equation. Young and uninformed of the risks associated with my reckless driving habits, I had convinced myself that I was not only invincible, but above the law as well. After receiving a speeding ticket and other traffic citations as the result of an accident, I was forced to re-evaluate my belief that I had no obligation to follow the law and in turn the notion of my invincibility. After much reflection and and soul searching, I came to the conclusion that life, like driving, is a gift that is very fragile and should not be regarded as irresponsibly as I had been treating it by driving so recklessly.
I have been wanting to drive because it will be one of the most useful life skills after I graduate from high school. To me, being able to drive means to have a convenient, interesting life, and being a helpful person. My life will be more convenient when I can drive by myself. I am jealous of the day students who can drive off campus to have food when they do not have classes. For those of us who can not drive, the only chance to get out of the school is to up for the school shuttles that can only go certain destinations.
The automobile has come to play a major role in our consumer society, which has, in turn, enabled the car to become a universal experience. As America's population moved out of the cities and into the suburbs, obtaining a driver's license and purchasing that first car became a right of passage for the majority of America's youth. Today nearly every adult has a driver's license and car to drive. This helps us understand why the car is the number one choice when we need to get from place to place.
A skill that I am now aware that I learned through the Natural Human Learning Process is the skill of driving. I was motivated to start drive because, I didn’t want to ask my parents to take me anywhere, and I was also tired of being late to events. I began practicing by...
Driving is something everyone does. It is something that teenagers look forward to. Something that parents dread coming because it shows that they are growing up. It is a mile marker that everyone reaches at some point in time. But, when it comes down to it, driving is one of the most serious things people do everyday, one mistake and everything could be over. The increase in technology has led to an increase in distracted driving, especially in teens or adolescence.
When I took driver?s ed. I was a little scared, but very excited at the same time. It was nice for me because they provided the class right at the school, therefore I didn?t have to pay for it. The class wasn?t very long it only lasted one quarter. I enjoyed going to class because I wanted to do good, and I liked to learn about driving. Overall I did very well I received an A, now I had to take the big test.
She went so fast that she lost control and hit a tree! I got out, and pulled her out of the ranger. Luckily, she wasn’t hurt or injured, but the side-by-side wasn’t coming off that tree very easy. So after she and I had realized what we had done, and how much trouble we would be in, we made the call to my grandpa. We didn’t tell him how bad it was, we just told him that we had a wreck and to come very quickly. When he got there, he was worried, then he got mad. He was very angry. Me and my little cousin got in the truck with him, and we went back to his house to get the supplies needed to get it off the tree. My little cousin stayed at the house, while me and my grandpa loaded it up and brought it back home. The whole thing happened in silence. He didn’t talk to us until we got home. He sat down with my little cousin and I and gave us a talk. It was about how he was disappointed in us, that we aren’t allowed to drive it anymore, and how we had to help him fix the front of the side-by-side.
There was always times where I just wanted to throw in the towel and call it quits. However, I just knew that my persistence would eventually kick in! Also, I had to accept the fact I would not do so well at first. When I first drove a car, my nerves throughout my body were completely shocked through the roof. It was because I did not know how to do it since I had no previous driving experience. For some people, they like to drive four-wheelers or dirt bikes before driving a car, so they have some experience, but I am not that type of person at all and never will be. So, me and my dad went down to Buckeye Career Center one afternoon for me to practice driving for the very first time in my life. At first, he would go through the course to show me where I would go. The course included turning both left and right, parking into a space, reversing, and many more things. My dad would always say the same things to me: “Turn the wheel, Coast, Brake Earlier.” These are just some of things he stressed to me. Turning the wheel was a problem I had early on because I would always do the wrong technique. I would always turn for part of the way but not all the way. The next thing he would say to me would be is just coast. To be honest, I did not know that a car could do such a thing. Coasting to me seems like taking a little break from driving. Also, I did not know how far you could go when coasting a car. A big thing I learned from my
Indeed, people who do not have any experience in driving may be afraid to drive among other cars on the street. For example, most of women from Iraq do not have any driving experience because they always depend on their families to provide all their necessities. Therefore, those who do not have any courage of driving need to hire a driving instructor to teach them how to drive and overcome their fears, which they suffer from. Those instructors can provide individuals with highly advantaged instructions. Furthermore, frequent practicing with someone close for at least one hour per day is a good practice to gain self-confidence themselves and pass the exam readily. Hence, practicing to drive a car with professional instructors is incredibly usef`ul to acquire a driver
My experience with learning to drive started in middle school where kids were too young to enroll in driving classes. My parents were a busy pair and I was an athlete who was determined to do my best for my team. This of course meant I was required to train with my team to build a chemistry with them. I drove myself to
This essay is to inform you about certain aspects of driving. In this letter I am going to talk about the effect of response time, a safe following distance, how the stopping distance depends on speed, how to decide what to do at a yellow light and how you have to change your speed around a curve. In the next following paragraphs I will explain each of the topics that I have listed and I will give you a better knowledge of how to be a safer driver.
Whether or not teenagers should be allowed to get their driver 's license at age sixteen is a known topic across the United States. One of the causes for this argument is the number of fatalities caused by young drivers. Evidence shows, “In 2012, 1,875 drivers between the ages of 15 and 20 died in motor vehicle crashes and an additional 184,000 young drivers were injured, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration,” (“Teen Drivers”). Most accidents are caused by young drivers. In the United States of America, citizens may receive their driver’s license at sixteen, if they meet the requirements. Some people argue that sixteen year olds should not be able to receive their driver’s license. Other people argue that sixteen
With my drivers’ license I could pick up my friends without my parents around, making the friend experience a whole lot better. I could go on dates without the embarrassment of my parents driving me. On any given day I could do anything I wanted because I could drive. I could feel the textures of the roads, smell the fresh air when my windows were down, see the beautiful terrain that I drove through and I could hear any type...
