Training and education needed: Before becoming an electrician’s helper and getting your foot in the door, there is not much education needed. Completing high school or having a GED are all that is required. Some people that want to start out higher up will go to a technical school giving them an edge. Once on the job, workers are not licensed electricians yet but are apprenticing to learn from those above them about the trade.

They work inside and outdoor mainly dependent on what type of job they have. In manufacturing, electricians usually work indoors but are usually in constant contact with noise.
Importance of job: The work done in the electrical field is very important in our constantly more electrically dependent culture. Since the basis of our energy distribution is electric, we need electricians and linemen to be able to set up and maintain our energy grid.
Why a good career choice: Deciding why something is a good choice as a career is based mainly on three things. First, does the field have the ability to sustain me financially. In this area, electrical work shows promise. Its median pay is over ten thousand dollars more than the national average median pay. More than enough to sustain an individual. Secondly, does it show promise for continued growth in the future and is it something that we will live without in my life time. The use of electricity is expensive and expanding. It is being used in increasingly more areas of our lives and in the world. For this reason, it is safe to say the need for electricians will not cease in the life time of this generation.
