At Arizona Christian University, most of the student population consist of athletes. But besides nourishing their bodies through exercise, athletes also need to feed their bodies with healthy substances as well. With a good workout and a healthy meal plan, every athlete can be empowered to improve in sports. Most of the time students don’t think that substances such as black and green tea can help maintain their metabolism and energy; however, studies have shown that these teas can improve physical and mental capability. If ACU began offering black and green tea, then student athletes’ performance could be enhanced by healthier bodies, due to a decrease in weight and better metabolism.

Since the research doesn’t describe how much the mice were given, student athletes may like the result, but also overuse the substance, which can affect their weight too much. This can lead to major downfalls in the student athlete’s performance inside and outside the classroom. The research also does not give an alternative besides green tea. If the tea was provided, it might not be used because of the taste. Another downfall could be that students who are allergic won’t be able to take advantage of the metabolism boost because of medical reasons. A student may not know that the tea has caffeine in it and may not be able to drink a large amount because of side effects, including “headache, nervousness, sleep problems, vomiting, diarrhea, irritability, irregular heartbeat, tremor, heartburn, dizziness, ringing in the ears, convulsions, and confusion” (WebMD). On the other hand, if ACU students are directed to the correct amounts and educated through coaches, black tea should be safely …show more content…
If ACU served black and green tea in the cafeteria and Phoenix Shop, it might push athletes to drink it. Coaches could be educated on what these teas can do for ACU athletes, in order to ensure healthier all-around athletes. In the study, researchers say, “When black tea molecules stay in the intestinal tract, they enhance the growth of beneficial bacteria and the formation of microbial metabolites involved in the regulation of energy metabolism.” Regulating a healthy metabolism can help maintain athletes’ performance and weight. Black and green tea can influence athletes to use this healthier alternative than Gatorade. Overall, black and green tea could improve the school’s performance as a whole. Improved performance could lead to more championships and national titles, in addition to higher

In a nutshell electrolytes are substances that are soluble in water and after being completely dissolved, they give ions. Our body consists of Cation and Anion electrolytes which are nutritionally referred to as Macrominerals. As stated before the balance level of electrolytes is every crucial for the human body, and if imbalanced the person can have serious and life threatening issues. But the only way to restore our electrolytes level is by consuming these sports drinks, so this is the main reason as for why even though the sports drinks have some negative aspects to them they are one of the cheapest and easiest ways a person can get the required electrolytes for their body.
For my 6th grade science fair project I chose to find out which drink is better for you and which drink improves performance more, Gatorade or Powerade. I chose this topic because I am an athlete, and it would be nice to know which drink is healthier, along with which drink replenishes better. My group members and myself formed hypotheses to answer these questions. I hypothesized Powerade would be healthier because it has vitamins B-3, B-6, and B-12, while I thought Gatorade would improve performance more because it has more electrolytes, sodium, and potassium. We tested our hypotheses by doing research online and performing experiments.

The Development of drugs and supplements used by mankind has evolved from what it once was in its early stages of existence. As with all man-made things, it is said that anything made by man can be improved (Moore, p35). With this concept, almost anything in nature can apply. In this case, the development of anabolic supplements and the human body. In the later years, the usage of supplements in sporting events have helped athletes achieve new goals which could not have been accomplished through training alone. With the Human body, there is only so much room for improvement until a limit has been achieved in the progress of a persons developments. With these limits in the development in the human body, certain frustrations can result from witnessing no benefits in physical training. Even for those individuals who are ill and plague with a disease, the usage of supplements can aid that individual back to health. The same reasoning can be applied to a bodybuilder who has reached his maximum and can no longer attain new goals. But certain questions arise when the usage of supplements are in to play, "Do they (supplements) actually working?","Are supplements hazardous to the health?","Are the supplements just a waste of money and don't benefit anything?". All of those questions are what the developers of chemist, doctors, and training consultant take into consideration before actually creating a new product or recommending someone to use supplements. The question that I would like to answer for myself, "Are supplements actually beneficial in attaining new gains and do they genuinely produce results?" The answer ...

Two-thirds of the world’s population consumes tea.1 The three major types of tea are black, oolong, and green. These types of tea differ in how they are produced and if they are fermented. Black tea is produced by oxidizing the leaves. This method intensifies the flavor and turns the leaves a dark brown color. Oolong tea is made by partially exposing the leaves to air. It is considered to be an intermediate between black and green tea in terms of flavor and caffeine levels. Green tea is the only type that is non-fermented. It is produced using young tea leaves and sold for consumption after withering.2
Historically, tea – especially herbal teas – have been popularly credited with lowering disease risk and have been used to treat specific health conditions. Interestingly, recent scientific and clinical research supports some, if not all of these claims.
This study was conducted by M. L. Bradlee, M. R. Singer, and L. L. Moore for a journal on nutrition and dietetics. They found that

Traditionally homeopathic medicines used in Chinese culture have helped to create a consumer base which is more accepting of caffeine based sustainable functional beverages. Some definite examples to support our argument is the popularity of herbal teas which help in digestion. Also, Asian speciality drinks such as peanut milk and almond juice are popular as it is believed that vegetable protein from the beverages can prevent obesity. These consumer beliefs have opened the doors for functional and health-focused beverages like ours. RTD teas such as President, Master Kong and...
...ont of Crumbs & Cravings. My observation took 40 minutes. Based on it, I noticed that most of the UOG students had a bottle of water on their table or they are carrying it with them. This implies that many UOG students are aware and recognize the health benefits of drinking water such as to stay hydrated and reduce their calorie intake. However, there are still some students that purchased one or two cans of Mr. Brown coffee and drank a Monster, Rockstar, or Redbull Energy Drink. Caroline Spivack, an undergraduate student from Mt. Holyoke College, describes caffeine as “…the lifeblood of college students…[and that] Regardless of how it’s consumed, caffeine and college students share an intimate relationship.” In my opinion, I agree with Spivack that caffeine helps college students to stay awake and pull an all-nighter especially during mid-semester and/or final exam.
However, a number of studies have suggested that the addition of milk and sugar to tea may decrease
