The director is the individual who actively oversees the realization of a film from script to a finished product, coordinating the creative activities of the personnel involved in the production processes. They will consult with each department, discuss various creative and/or technical options to be enforced, and arrive at a decision that is consistent with the requirements of the work. The director's job has two elements: The creative aspect and the technical. Director Adam Burke was born and raised from Green Bay, Wisconsin. He went on to get his Bachelors of Fine Art from the University and Arizona and his Masters of Fine Arts from Northwestern University in Theater Directing. Adam was the founding artistic director at Chicago Theatre for Young Audiences. In addition, he received a national Theatre Communications Group New Generations Fellowship; with this fellowship he spent two more years as an artistic associate at a local professional theater—Childsplay. Adam Burke had been living in San Antonio for the past five years until his move to Charlotte last June. He worked as an assistant professor in the theater department at St. Mary’s University. Additionally, he is the artistic director of the Scioto Society, which produces the drama “Tecumseh,” in Chillicothe, Ohio. Burke is currently working as the artistic director at the Charlotte Children’s Theater. Recently, our class had the tremendous opportunity to interview Mr. Burke with questions relating to his process in directing.

Generally speaking, film theorists have concluded that it is the director of a film who is the auteur, the most important creative figure.

Many account the spectacular success in movies to the producers, directors, or actors, but how did they all find one another to make a spark on screen? A key player in making the connections and acting so amazing is the casting director, but many overlook this role. Essentially, casting is assigning a part in a movie, play, or other production, thus the casting director must find the perfect person for the job. What would be Forest Gump without Tom Hanks, or more recent parts such as Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss— we can 't image these roles played by anyone else. The casting directors picked them perfectly and knew what talent they would bring. Casting directors are crucial people when making a movie come to life and deserve more credit for their strenuous and imperative task.
A crew includes a screenwriter, whose job it is to provide the written blueprint version of the entire film. This is basically the starting point for any movie. Next there is the producer. There are many types of producers; executive producers, co-producers, assistant producers and line producers. They all do very different things. Some are the producers are responsible for raising the funds for the movie while others are responsible for the production that goes on during the filming of the movie and still other producers are in charge of what physically goes on the set. Then it is time for the director. The director is in charge of the actors. The director works with the actors to visually bring to life what was written on the screenplay (Fortunato, Who Does What on a Film). Now the idea needs to come together. The idea of writing, “what you know” is not always true and writing, “what you come to know” is in fact a more accurate way to write. Other good ways to formulate ideas are to use existing plays, novels, short stories, life stories, new articles, or even past TV shows and film. The people and places exemplified throughout the work of Mark Twain in Huckleberry Finn are widely influenced by both their encouraging and degrading views of religion, specifically Christianity. The perceptions and lifestyles of all of the characters in Huck Finn have some sort of relation back to their personal beliefs. Throughout American History, Christianity has made the largest impact on how people live their lives. It, therefore, fits that a story rooted in American mannerisms and beliefs should rely heavily on the ideas put forth through religion. This idea is primarily presented when looking at Huck himself, Jim, and Huck’s religious influences in life: Miss Watson and the Widow Douglas.

Cinematography refers to the process in film of lighting a shot and achieving quality in the visual images that are captured. The cinematographer in any film is also known as the director of photography and may be either an artist or a technician. It is this individual who is responsible for ensuring that the images appearing on screen are presented to reflect the mood or the emotional effect and the style seen by the film director, producer, and writer as essential to conveying its meaning. The director of photography works closely with the director and interprets the action of the story in terms of light, shade, composition, and camera movement. Other responsibilities include selecting the type of lens to be used for a shot, which influences the appearance of the image, and determining the camera position and angle. The director photographer rarely operates the camera directly; this function is usually the responsibility of the camera operator.
The sound editor works closely with the director, producers, post-production supervisor and picture editor. The sound editor will carry out the vision of the films sound and will be in charge of creating, developing, editing, mixing and overseeing all aspects of the post-production sound. The sound editor is ultimately responsible for designing and creating all aspects of a film's sound from the dialog, ADR, sound effects to the re-recording mix of the final masters for the film. Combined with a viewer’s desire to escape the everyday parameters of life, and the excitement of enthralling themselves deep into another world, many people enjoy what films stand to offer. With the rising popularity of films across the world, the amount of film makers increases every day. Many technological innovations mark the advancement of film making, but the essential process remains the same. Pre-production accounts for everything taken place before any shooting occurs, followed by the actual production of the film, post-production will then consist of piecing the film together, and finally the film must reach an audience. Each step of this process contributes to the final product, and does so in a unique right. The process of film making will now start chronologically, stemming from the idea of the story, producing that story into a film, editing that footage together, and finally delivering that story to its viewers.
