1. Describe the study. Be specific and thorough. Describe what you did as a subject in the study.

The purpose of the study was to look at the Dark Triad of personality, and preference for parenting skills in a prospective partner. I am participant that completed personality questionnaires assessing the dark triad and self-objectification.

2. Describe what you think the study was about. What are the psychologists trying to prove or find out through the study. What do you think the "hypothesis" was?
The Dark Triad (i.e., Machiavellianism, Narcissism, and Psychopathy) is a constellation of seemingly adverse personality traits, characterized by manipulativeness and selfishness. In this study, I think, they wanted to look at how these personality …show more content…

Do you think the psychologists are getting a representative sample? Does it matter in this case?
I don’t think they are getting a representative sample but somehow there’s a relationship between dark triad and difference in parent-child relationship quality.

4. Which of the four "goals" of psychology does this study seem to be trying to achieve? What is your reason for this?

I think this study trying to achieve the goal of “To Predict”. They are predicting how the sample think and act and related to dark triad personality. Once we understand why it happen and what happens, we can make the information/data to make prediction about how it might happen again in the future.

I understand that prediction can also allow our psychologists to make guesses about human personality/behavior without understanding the mechanisms underlying the human personality.

5. What is your overall evaluation of this research study? Good? Bad? Why? Given what Chapter 1 says about ethics in psychological research, do you think this research is ethical? Why or why not? Does it seem to violate any of the ethical guidelines mentioned toward the end of the chapter? Is the method of research used appropriate for the research
