Compromising Integrity Integrity is about having morals and principles and it helps to define one’s character. When someone has integrity, they tend to stay true to their beliefs and values, they are more understanding, and they possess a sense of leadership. Furthermore, having integrity shows that you are honest and will always make the right choices. With it, you gain people’s trust and they know that they can rely on you. A person with integrity is more likely to move up in the workplace because their boss can see that this person is reliable and honest and will always make the right choice when it is necessary. With all of these great qualities that display integrity, some people have a tendency to compromise it. These people may have made a bad decision, or somehow been dishonest about something. Additionally, the consequence could change their reputation for the rest of their life. He chose to compromise his integrity because he thought he could get away with it and make extra profit from it. It’s also possible that he was paying his secretary to keep quiet about some of his actions, and for her to comply would be compromising her integrity as well. If it is true that she knew what was going on, the right thing for her would have been going to the board members with this information and stopping it before it ever got out of hand. She may have liked the extra money or she may have just been afraid of what could happen to her if she told and wasn’t able to provide solid evidence at the time. Hopefully, she never knew any kind of wrong doing was happening and she just thought she was doing the right thing as if it was part of her
