It is advancing sustainable tourism through addressing the needs of hosts, guests, and the communities and implementing effective strategies related to the efficient use of existing resources, which, as a result, has positive impacts on social, economic, and environmental development.

Airbnb addresses the needs of hosts, guests, and the communities in a sustainable way. It implements policies related to a more efficient use of existing resources. For example, in New Orleans, Airbnb worked with local government to put rules in place that promote home sharing and the economic benefits of travel (Airbnb Policy Tool Chest 2.0). It also joined forces with the Caribbean Tourism Organization to promote the local history and culture and to diversify local tourism industry in order to benefit the residents economically (Airbnb Policy Tool Chest 2.0).
Moreover, Airbnb integrates sustainable practices into their platform. It has partnerships with solar-panel and smart-home tech companies to give their hosts reward for adopting energy-saving tools.
