How did the Ice Age help change the landscape of North America?

North America and the rest of the Earth's continents formed very slowly over hundreds of millions of years. Once apart of a single supercontinent, North America broke away like the other continents forming the oceans as we know them today

Mountains were formed across every continent due to the shifting and folding of Earth’s crust, some formed about 350 million years ago

It also anchored the northeastern corner of North America

The Canadian Shield is thought to be the first part of what became the North American landmass to have emerged above sea level

2 million years ago ice covered a majority of the Earth called the Ice Age

Ice as thick as 2 miles crept from polar regions to cover parts of Europe, Asia and the Americas. In North America, ice crept south as far as current day Pennsylvania

Summary: After the formation of the Earth, continents, once apart of a single supercontinent, slowly move away from one another. The shifting and movement of the continents created geographical landmarks such as mountains and large oceans. Later, enormous sheets of ice covered large areas of the Earth in a period known as the Ice Age. When the ice retreated from North America, it left the landscape as we know it today.

The melting of ice in what is now Canada and the US allowed for the people in North America to immigrate southward and eastward across the continent

The people migrated all the way to the southern tip of South America and everywhere in between creating countless tribes and over 2,000 separate languages

Some tribes such as the Incas and Aztecs created extremely sophisticated civilizations. They had agricultural practices for harvesting corn and used large animals to aid with work

Along with the use of animals and large scale farming, the Incas and Aztecs had some talented mathematicians who made very accurate astronomical observations

Summary: The Ice Age aided in the peopling of the Americas and those people migrated across the entire continent. The migrating people traveled as far south as the southern tip of South America and created countless tribes everywhere in between. Some tribes, such as the Incas and Aztecs, were much more advanced as other tribes in the Americas.
