What are conspiracy theories? According to dictionary.com, a conspiracy theory is “a theory that explains an event as being the result of a plot by a covert group or organization; a belief that a particular unexplained event was caused by such a group”. Conspiracy theories can affect society in many ways depending on which ones you come across. They can affect you negatively, psychologically, and pit you against or for something. First and foremost, you might be wondering who comes up with these conspiracy theories. People who come up with conspiracy theories are called “Conspiracy Theorists”. The document talked about five main ideas. The first idea talked about the CIA’s concern with criticism of the Warren Report. In the document it says, “From the day of President Kennedy’s assassination on, there has been speculation about the responsibility for his murder…. In most cases the critics have speculated as to some kind of conspiracy…”. The second idea talks about how the conspiracy theories is a concern to the government and the CIA. Also, it talks about how they chose the members of the Warren Commission but the second paragraph is the most interesting to the second idea. It says, “The aim of this dispatch is to provide material countering and discrediting the claims of the conspiracy theorists…”. The third idea talks about the actions the Warren Commission, the Government, and the CIA should take and be handled in public. This idea tries to counter the publics critical thinking and scrutiny. The fourth idea talks about how the matter should be taken care of “in private to media discussions”. In this idea, the CIA is saying they must persuade the media to cover the evidence the Warren Commission found and steer them away from the conspiracy theories. The fifth idea is a conclusion to CIA Document #1035-960. It says, “Where possible, counter speculation by encouraging reference to the Commission’s Report itself” (JFK …show more content…
So, where do conspiracy theories come from? We can say that Herman Melvin and Vanilla Ice were prophets just because if we align the text of Moby Dick, in a rectangle, it predicted the assassination of Martin Luther King and the death of Princess Diana. If we did the same for Vanilla Ice lyrics we would find a pattern, but to say that they are prophets would be false. The reason that \we can find these surprising patters is due to the Ramsey Theory. The Ramsey Theory sates, “Given enough element in a set or structure some particular interesting pattern among them is guaranteed to emerge”. In explanation, “specific patterns with seemingly astronomical odds can emerge from a relatively small set, and with a very large set the possibilities are almost endless”. The possibilities of text, music, and sounds concealing foretelling future events are extremely high. Human beings have evolved to notice patterns and even signals among noise. Conspiracy theories accuse others of a cover up by secret planning. They may be based on a hunch or even backed by evidence. To the curious mind, they bring about unanswered questions that have attracted the attention of many people throughout history. Among some of the more popular theories are the assassination of President John F. Kennedy; the death of Princess Diana; alien encounters in Roswell, New Mexico; and the idea that Elvis may still be alive. Perhaps the most intriguing theory, because of our neighboring location, is the underground bunker and seemingly strange characteristics at the Denver airport.

The assassination of John F. Kennedy led many Americans to distrust their own federal government. Vice President Lyndon B. Johnson appointed the Warren Commission to investigate Kennedy's death, but the way that they handled it resulted in many American citizens to lose trust in their country. The Warren Commission concluded that Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone in the assassination of President Kennedy, but the view of the general public was that the killing was a conspiracy. They believed that the Warren Commission withheld important evidence about the event that took place on November 22, 1963. Many also accused the Warren Commission of not fully investigating the crime which caused a large number of American citizens to lose trust in their own government.

I somewhat believe that the death of Dr. King was a conspiracy. So many questions about the assassination have not been answered, and the ones that have, are filled with loopholes. I think that the government knows more than they tell us they do, but maybe not knowing certain things is better.
