The organization I chose for my Social Media Analysis paper was The Boys and Girls Club of America (BGCA). The Boys and Girls Club of America has been aiding children and their communities for years. BGCA provides different programs for low income children 6 to 17 years old, which will help them develop into hard working, productive individuals. They offer different programs based on interests and age. Their goal is to provide a safe environment for youth to develop self esteem and future goals for themselves. The children in this organization learn about freedom of expression and aid in preventing bulling. The program has succeeded and provided the communities with hard working stand up individuals. The people who attend this organization’s
Some of my extracurricular activities include Science Olympiad, STEM Academy, International Club, Advanced Academics Club, and Chem Club. During high school I have participated in various community-based organizations, the two most common being Beta Club and National Honor Society. However while these clubs have allowed me to give back to my community in numerous ways, it was strangely not either of these clubs that expanded my interest in the following particular social issue. Rather it was my involvement in Science Olympiad, specifically volunteering to help run a local Elementary school tournament, that expanded my view of the STEM field.
A recurring theme when it comes to many stories, either novels or short stories, is a realization of one’s identity. It may be either the main character or supporting characters that undergo an epiphany. While it is uncertain if his views were changed, the narrator of Sonny’s Blues by James Baldwin went through a catharsis by the end of the short story. After reuniting with his former heroin addict brother, Sonny, the narrator tries to make him conform to the society. Sonny, on the other side, would much rather enjoy art such as Charlie Parker. Likewise, In Hell-Heaven by Jhumpa Lahiri, through the conflict between the parents and the younger generation, the inner conflict of cultures surfaces. However, through the use of the symbols such as the trembling cup in the final scene and the conflict in Hell-Heaven, Baldwin and Lahiri demonstrates the realization and struggle of the main characters.
The California Youth Authority or the CYA as it is more commonly known, is an institution which provides a range of education, treatment, and training services for youthful offenders committed by courts. This system has been plagued by multitudes of problems for many years that need to be fixed.
I was very excited when I heard that I had been invited into National Junior Honors Society. The first time I heard of NJHS, it instantly became a goal of mine. When my older sister left for college I was very sad, so I think that this is a way for me to keep a part of her. I have always been that little girl no one understood, because I’m always very excited to learn and get back to school after summer break. I’m very happy to see that I’ve been invited, but this is why I should be accepted.
National Junior Honor Society as a nation premier organization started to recognize outstanding middle-level students. NJHS is a way to honor students who have demonstrated an extraordinary amount of excellence in the areas of the five pillars which are, scholarship, service, leadership, character, and citizenship. This organization that was started in 1929 is a great opportunity for me to show my family and teachers how hard I work to get this far. I am deeply honored to be among the exemplary student who are being considered for this program. This organization the so many great things in society, and knowing that I could potentially be a part of it and play a part in futuring the impression that the organization has already made. I am a determined student, and will do anything to do my absolute best even when something hard is thrown my way. I have always hoped to be a part of something big like National Junior Honor Society, and I hope that this will be my chance to be a part of something big. In my essay I have provided several reasons why you should consider me being on National Junior Honors Society.
It is with great honor to be considered among the students of my class to be a part of the National Honor Society. the National Honor Society (NHS) has been an organization that has displayed great interest to me, with new leadership skills and responsibilities to take upon. I believe that I hold the leadership skills, service, character, and academic excellence that is required to become a member of the National Honor Society.
I believe that I would be a good representative for the National Junior Honor Society because I have great ideas and I am focused on making our community a better place. If I become a member I intend on holding fundraisers that can help people and animals who are in need. I think that holding campaigns for those less fortunate is very important because not only does it engage the public, but also it could be life changing for those in need. I also feel I would make a good representative because I am a straight A student and I am a hard worker. I work hard for what I want and I will not let anything get in my way. In my opinion, to be a member of the NJHS, one must possess certain qualities such as compassion, kindness, dedication, and motivation to make the world a better place, and I indeed have those qualities.
Imagine a world where the physically weak have a powerful weapon to fight against the strong. In this kind of world, that mean kid who beats you up, steals your lunch money, and copies your math homework has no power, whereas the weakling who gets his lunch money stolen has all of it. Through the aid of social media, individuals, teens in particular, who are usually quite docile have a chance to fight back at their oppressors, or they might, in the heat of the moment, begin to victimize someone else.
This research paper is brief information about my senior project topic “The affects public recreation and community centers have in communities”. The reasoning for this selection of this topic is because when I was younger every weekend and summer I would go over to my local community center to play basketball with other kids from the neighborhood. I chose recreation and community centers to research because I’m interested in the funds of these centers, the adults who take the time out of their lives to interact with these children, what these recreations and community centers have to offer for children and the community as a whole, their partnerships and there missions. I hope to accomplish with this project is to make sure that
To protect the student from the undue influence of social media platforms such as Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram, a parent must acknowledge that using social media can lead to both negative
“Social media has also created an exciting outlet for the people to see news and stay updated on current events in the world” ("Are Social Networking Sites”). The majority of the media broadcast the troubles and trials the United States has and to some extent people could get ideas from the bad broadcast and could do the same things. Maybe if the media could limit the broadcast of bombings, gun shootings, killing police officers, and much more, all of it would gradually disappear. This report describes the impact of social media on children, adolescents, and families. The author, O’Keeffe, presents the benefits of children and adolescents using social media; he also presents the rise of youth using social media.
Social media can have detrimental effects on the formation of an adolescent’s identity, such as social isolation, meaning that the individual will spend excessive amounts of time attached to any electronics that will provide him with social media access. Social networking has been debated to have beneficial or detrimental effects, as overuse and abuse of the Internet can be harmful to someone, such as an adolescent. According to the National Crime Prevention Council, over one million teenage girls are victimized psychologically as well as physically, through social media. Discrimination through media causes teenagers to isolate themselves from the world, as well as implement online socialization and not having the capacity to communicate with another human being in person. Furthermore, this is the effect of media abuse.
The correlation between the development of youth and social media has become blatant. Although few of the consequences are favorable, the majority have displayed a negative impact. The drive social media can implement on youth is exceptional. The pressure and strain social media can place on our youth is an enduring force which leads individuals to question themselves as a person and feel inclined to fit a norm expressed in media and social media of our society. The underlying force social media can play in the lives of the youth is astonishing and is a force that must be dealt with and controlled, for it not only holds the power to give an individual strength, but also to break them down.
We live in a world that has become addicted and dedicated toward social media and it is driving America’s youth into the ground. Teenagers and adults are so wrapped up in social media that is runs their lives every day. Constantly people are checking their phones for the latest on social networks. They have to see pictures, tweets, statuses, comments, likes, and the list goes on and on. Social media is becoming the focus point in the modern American society that it is beginning to control people’s social skills, communication skills, and their livelihood.
This research paper is going to be about how social media impacts an individual. Then it is going to be about how much of an impact it has on businesses. Afterwards, we are going to go over the pros and the cons of social media in society. Then this research paper is going to conclude on where social media is heading towards in the near future and so on. Social media can impact the life of an individual at many levels.
