Optimism and pessimism are alike in a way because individuals apply both outlooks into their daily life causing an impact. The difference is the application of positive or negative perspectives. Someone who is optimistic will make decisions that are based on positive outcomes. A person who is pessimistic will expect the worst outcome. I consider myself to be a pessimist, because I prepare myself for life’s disappointments and in doing so, I feel more adapted.
Optimism is a person’s way to have an expectancy of hope and to eventually believe that anything he or she had done that did or did not work out as planned had a positive reasoning behind it. The benefit of being optimistic is that it promotes happiness. An example as to how optimism
Though to a pessimistic person, it is just a different way as to how to get to the goal they have prepared for. The person who is pessimistic will already have the mind ready for failure or prepared for success. A benefit for being pessimistic would be to think the worst and receive the best of something, whether it be a job, goals, or getting a good test grade back on a test that the person was not so sure about and continuously had the thought of failing. Pessimists are like walking to the finish line, meanwhile, optimists are running with it because they are so eager to get to where they will go in life. I am proud to be a pessimistic person because I will be prepared for any tough or easy setting in my life. I have nothing against an optimistic person because we both do cooperate in the world differently, but a pessimist, like myself, depending on the optimistic people for the positivity that is carried along with them, tend to help with our motivation. The only difference is that pessimist looks at a glass half empty and an optimist look at it as half full. It is the same thing just described differently. I just rather prefer the negative side of things, because I am then hardened from what I have learned and will not be as let down as I already have been once
