On average, more then eight million people fly on an airplane every day. That is blank percent of the total world population. Flying is becoming a more popular form of travel as time goes on. In fact, according to Garfors.com, 37.4 million flights were scheduled in 2014, which is up 2.7% from 2013. And it means an average of 102,465 flights per day. In life, one must properly prepare for this experience, if ever given the opportunity – after all; it is getting more popular every year. Flying is stressful for the first time if you don’t know how, but after the first time, it is much less nerve-wracking. Last summer I flew by myself for the first time to Texas, and remember the process very clearly. I was successful in my travels, because I …show more content…
It is recommended to pack all necessary luggage in a carry-on bag, in order to save money. Checking a bag is an option as well, (especially for longer trips where more items are needed), it just costs a fee. I would encourage the traveler to pack light, in order to navigate through the airport with less to lug around; this also decreases the chance of losing a particular item. Dimensions for what size/how many carry-ons are acceptable is either available online or available by calling the flight service. When packing, it is smart for the traveler to roll all non-wrinkling clothes in a cylinder, for this will save room. According to the TSA, it is a necessity for all people to fit any liquids fit in one clear, quart size, zip-top bag. (This includes all aerosols, creams and pastes.) Since TSA requires that they must be 3.4 ounces or less, one will need to buy travel sized containers. These containers can be purchased at the local drug store or grocery, typically. Before leaving the house, one must double check that everything vital is packed, grab the proper form of identification, (license for all flights and passport only if flying out of the USA), and leave for the airport. I would highly recommend to anyone to leave the house early to allow plenty of …show more content…
The gate number will be printed on the boarding pass most of the time. From here, since all airports are slightly different, one will have to follow the signs for direction. Sometimes, in larger airports, a shuttle is required if the airport is large. Taking the shuttle is also necessary if running late, or if one is not physically able to walk all the way to their gate. On the way to the gate, one will see big monitors with lots of airliners, terminal numbers, and times next to them, that display the status of all flights. It is highly recommended to check this, in order to see if it is on time. If at any given time the traveler is lost, they should not hesitate to ask a worker for help. They are there to assist all passengers in having a successful flying experience. Once the passenger finds their terminal, the rest is a piece of cake. Just wait for the flight attendant at the specific terminal to call each specific section to board, which typically happens about a half an hour before take-off. In the mean time, all travelers should have a seat, use the restroom, grab some coffee or food, and relax; All passengers should stay close to their terminal for any important boarding announcements.
As you can see, flying is a simple process, if one is explained
Handling and operating an airplane comes with great risk, but these risks that are present are handled with very different attitudes and dealt with in different ways depending on the environment the pilots are in.
Many people have issues with flying. Some are nervous that the plane might not make it to its destination while others think of flying as an overpriced, uncomfortable, and unpleasant experience. Than there are those who can afford to make their flight experience much more luxurious which are the passengers flying in business class or in first class. These are passengers that get the champagne in the plastic glasses and the chairs that stretch all the way out. David Sedaris is able to paint this picture of entitlement and lack of comfort throughout his article “Journey into Night.”
Wilbur Wright once said, “The desire to fly is an idea handed down to us by our ancestors who... looked enviously on the birds soaring freely through space... on the infinite highway of the air.” He changed American culture forever when he made the first flight alongside his brother Orville. This invention would have an even greater impact on our culture than cars. Although cars are used every day in America, planes have had the largest impact on American culture. Without planes, our lives would be drastically different, but not in a good way. Airplanes had a major impact on military, commerce, and travel.
Wouldn’t it be amazing to travel anywhere you wanted to go in the world without a plane to take you there? Well, we’ve all wanted the ability to fly at least once in our lifetime. We would have the luxury to travel anywhere we wanted and we wouldn’t have to worry about the constant struggle to find enough money just to get to the destination. We would learn more about the world by seeing things through a new perspective if we could fly ourselves to it in the blink of an eye. Judith Oritz Cofer as the author shows us this ability through the characters in the short story, “Volar”.
The concept of flight is typically thought to be synonymous with birds, so much so that it would be a surprise to most people to learn that there are currently about 11 known families of extant birds that do not have the ability to fly (McCall). Of these 11 families, there are about 98 species that are either still living or have gone extinct in the past few decades (McCall). Another surprising fact regarding flightless birds is that flightlessness as a trait did not appear suddenly among any flying vertebrates; they all took millions of years to fly (Paul). All flightless birds belong to the class Aves, which itself belongs to the phylum Chordata and the kingdom Animalia (Flightless Birds). Within the class Aves there is a superorder known as Palaeognathae, which includes most flightless birds (University of California Museum of Paleontology). Examples of well-known Paleognathe birds include ostriches and kiwis (University of California Museum of Paleontology). This group is further divided into two groups, the tinamiformes and the ratites (University of California Museum of Paleontology). Flightless birds that are not found in superorder Palaeognathae are classified as Neognathae, another superorder which includes penguins, puffins and rails (University of California Museum of Paleontology). In literature all of these birds are often referred to as flightless, terrestrial species or aquatic species. It is generally accepted that although these bird species do not fly now, they did all came from an ancestor that did fly at some point (The Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County Foundation). It is also worth noting that flightlessness can be observed on a short time scale, as a rapid evolution rather than one taking thousands...
As a teenager, I discovered that life is a subjective experience that can be viewed from many perspectives. In an effort to open my mind to different views of the world, I organized a plan to take flying lessons, and completed extensive flight training as well as specialized courses in physics, mechanics, and weather to obtain my private pilot’s license prior to completing high school. I have always enjoyed tackling challenges, and independently piloting airplanes at a young age helped me develop a level of confidence, maturity, and drive.
It was a warm and sunny Saturday morning when my friend, Sivi, and I left our home to travel to the small local airport located outside of town. Just the previous night we had received 4 hours of classroom training in how to perform a successful "Skydive" and now we would receive 4 more hours of practical, hands-on training.
“ A family of five was traveling to Florida for a family vacation when the family was suddenly struck between two semi’s. The EMT’s pronounced the whole family dead at the scene earlier that night. Police have yet to release details on what the cause of the accident was but said it was an unexpected incident”, the local news reported said.
Tevlin, J. (1999, November 21). Cabin pressure-the sky is the limit for millions of Americans who are afraid to fly. But a Northwest Airlines program helps people tame their terror. The Minneapolis Star Tribune: Newspaper of the Twin-Cities. p. 1E.
My heart was pounding as I boarded my flight leaving the Bangkok International Airport. A flight attendant in a grey dress with a red bow draped over her shoulder announced; “Welcome aboard flight AA350 to the United States.” My journey began that day.
Flying by private jet charter has many benefits, and if you have the money to do so, you can choose to use this option, which is the preferred traveling method of many professional athletes, business executives, entertainment celebrities, defense officials, politicians, and wealthy individuals. It is true that using an aircraft charter has redefined how citizens travel, in comparison to traditional commercial flights. The perks associated with a private charter are more luxurious, and you have more availability in terms of direct flights to remote locations around the world.

“Flight 208 to Los Angeles is now boarding. Section N you may now take your seats”. You looked down at your carry-on bag to make sure you have everything packed up, even though you took nothing out, and headed toward the flight attendant and handed her your ticket. As your walking through the tunnel, the sound of the planes jets put just enough pressure on your body, causing your pulse to increase. “Why are you nervous, you been on planes before”, you ask yourself.
