Characteristics of God - The Significance
"What comes into our heads when we think about God is the main idea about us." So says A.W. Tozer in his timeless novel in the characteristics of God, The familiarity with the Sacred. Why would he make this kind of extreme pronouncement?
In our hearts we understand the preceding is accurate. It's not sufficient to follow "God." Then we're simply creating an idol in our heads, if we all simply make up our own thoughts concerning what He's like.
Characteristics of God - The Foundation
Jesus came to show the God of the Bible. And God has shown Himself in His novel. Any deviation with that penetration from Him is a made up God. Tozer in Knowledge of the Sacred uncovers 18 features of God in the Bible. These features are reiterated here, even though not in exactly the same sequence.
The Bible says to praise God for who He is, particularly in prayer. Much of Psalms is a good case of this. Most people focus their praise in just a few places, including God's love, and then spend the remainder of their prayers asking Him for things.
Aspects of God - The Characteristics
Wisdom: Wisdom is the capability to devise perfect endings and also to realize these ends by the most perfect means. Put simply, God makes no errors. He is the Father who actually knows best, as Paul explains in Romans 11:33 “Oh, how great are God’s riches and wisdom and knowledge! How impossible it is for us to understand His decisions and His ways!”
Infinitude: God knows no bounds. He's without measure. This characteristic by definition impacts all of the others.
Sovereignty: That is the aspect by which He rules His whole creation. It's the application of His other aspects of being all-knowing and all-powerful. God is in control ...

In the first chapter of God Behaving Badly, David Lamb argues that God is unfairly given a bad reputation. He claims these negative perceptions are fueled by pop culture and lead many to believe the lie that the God of the Old Testament is angry, sexist, racist, violent, legalistic, rigid, and distant. These negative perceptions, in turn, affect our faith. Ultimately, Lamb seeks to demonstrate that historical context disproves the presumptuous aforementioned. In addition, he defends his position by citing patterns of descriptions that characterize God throughout the Old Testament. “Our image of God will directly affect how we either pursue or avoid God. If we believe that the God of the Old Testament is really harsh, unfair and cruel, we won’t want anything to do with him” (Lamb 22). Clearly, they way Christians choose to see God will shape their relationship with Him.

This paper is written to discuss the many different ideas that have been discussed over the first half of Theology 104. This class went over many topics which gave me a much better understanding of Christianity, Jesus, and the Bible. I will be addressing two topics of which I feel are very important to Christianity. First, I will be focusing on the question did Jesus claim to be God? This is one of the biggest challenges of the Bibles that come up quite often. Secondly, I will focus on character development.

We know that Christ is someone unique and distinct in many ways from every other man, especially in his incarnation. This word Incarnation basically means `made flesh'. This passage shows the unique and miraculous events which were involved in Christ's incarnation.
... understanding of ourselves and the world by thinking things in a rational and procedural order. This understanding allows us to peruse a type of freedom that gives order within a conflicted system. By gaining some understanding of reality as an integral part of our system and recognizing our place within this whole of god, we come to participate in god’s divine nature.

Benchmark Assignment: Gospel Essentials There are several aspects to consider when exploring the Christian worldview. There are many facets and denominations and they each have their own distinct beliefs and practices, but they all share the same fundamental beliefs. In this paper we will explore the character of God, His creation, humanity and its nature, Jesus’ significance to the world, and the restoration of humanity, as well as my beliefs and the way that I interact with Christianity and my personal worldview. God In the Christian worldview, God is the one and only God. He is the sovereign creator of everything.
