The Assassination of J.F.K. On November 22, 1963, American history changed forever. That day the presidential motorcade of President John F. Kennedy traveled down Elm Street in Dallas, Texas. As the limousine went down past The Texas School Book Depository shots were fired. These shots, said to have been fired by Lee Harvey Oswald, struck President Kennedy and Governor Connally. The wounds to President Kennedy were fatal. This event will never be forgotten by the American people. This event and the proceeding Warren Commission investigation will be causes of arguments in this country for a long time to come. With the uncertainty of this event, it seems that everyone has their own opinion on what actually happened. These opinions range from believing the official report of the Warren Commission, to believing that the Russians assassinated Kennedy. Despite all of the other theories, the most believable theory is that the federal government was involved in the assassination of the President. The federal government involvement in the Kennedy assassination can be seen through the quick findings that Oswald acted alone in the assassination, through CIA and FBI actions after the assassination, and through the actions of President Johnson following the assassination of President Kennedy. There are many other theories about the assassination of President Kennedy. One of these is the Lone Gunman theory give by the Warren Commission. This stated: The shots which killed President Kennedy and wounded Governor Connally were fired from the sixth floor window at the southeast corner of the Texas School Book Depository. This is due to the conclusion that the bullets were fired from above and behind the Presidential limo... ... middle of paper ... ...less room to question the evidence in this theory. Unlike many other theories this one seems to be better supported by the evidence of the assassination. So it is shown that this is the best explanation for what really happened in the Kennedy assassination. Bibliography: Works Cited Allen, Matthew D. "Who's to Blame? : President Kennedy Assasination." When all the evidence is noted (and there is even more beyond that which is stated here), one can not ignore the overwhelming presence of a
Kennedy assassination. The single-bullet theory was introduced by the Warren Commission in its investigation of the assassination of President John F. Kennedy to explain what happened to the bullet that struck Kennedy in the back and exited through his throat. The Warren Commission that investigated the Kennedy assassination established that the reactions of Kennedy and Connally happened too close together for two single shots, even from the same gun, to have been accountable for their injuries. In an interview with Piers Morgan Stone said, the single-shooter theory and the "magic bullet" theory "fall apart, if anybody in their right mind looks at it." "It angers me sometimes, to think of the degree of stupidity about Oswald and the Mannlicher-Carcano (rifle) on the sixth floor making these shots. It's almost as if we don't believe what we see with our own eyes in the Zapruder film," Stone
In 1976, the US Senate ordered a fresh inquiry into the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, who was murdered in 1963 during a motorcade in Dallas, Texas while campaigning for re-election. People who had been involved in the original Warren Commission investigations were asked to make fresh statements. The FBI and the CIA were persuaded to release more of their documents on Oswald. New lines of inquiry were opened and individuals who had not previously given evidence were persuaded to come forward. Most important of all, pieces of evidence such as photos and sound recordings were subjected to scientific analysis using the most up-to-date methods and equipment. The House Select Committee on Assassinations (HSCA) completed their investigation in 1979 and they finally came to a discrete verdict that Lee Harvey Oswald fired three shots at Kennedy, one of which killed the president. A fourth shot was fired from the grassy knoll, which was contradictory to the statement printed by the Warren Commission 16 years earlier. They concluded that John Kennedy was assassinated as the result of a conspiracy.
On November 22,1963,President Kennedy was in attendance at a Dallas parade. One of the biggest tragic moments happened in U.S. history before the naked eye.President John F. Kennedy was assassinated around 12:34 p.m.as he celebrated with the Dallas crowd to show admiration towards them and their city(Mintaglio 60).The suspected assassin Robert L. Oswald,a former U.S. marine, was afterward caught not long following the assassination in a near by theatre(Newman 56).Later to discover he himself was assassinated by Jack Ruby while he was being escorted publicly to the court room.A study of the John F.Kennedy assassination would include the conspiracy theories, the plans of the assassination ,and the alleged suspects‘ connections.
The motorcade took off about 10 minutes behind the scheduled time. The convoy had negotiated the turn at Elm linking Dealey Plaza, about 5 minutes away from the Dallas Trade Mart, when three successive gunshots were fired at JFK who at this time was standing and waving at an estimated 200,000 cheering Texans. The gun shots came from the 6th floor of the Texas School Book Depository. One of the shots pieced JFK’s throat and another shattered his skull, spilling his brain all over the limousine, JFK was rushed to the Parkland Hospital, Dallas, but died shortly after.
“Officially 3 bullets were shot from a high powered rifle. The first missed, the second hit him in the throat, and the third fatally hit him in the head. The single bullet theory says that 1 bullet was fired and hit Governor John Connally and JFK it states that the bullet would have
The single bullet theory was started by the Warren commision. It was where one bullet killed both Kennedy and the Governor that was in front of him. This bullet according to the warren commission was fired by Lee Harvey Oswald. The trajectory of the bullet passed through Kennedy’s neck and went into the governor's chest and embedded the bullet in the governor’s thigh. In this paper I will go over the single bullet theory.
The sniper, Lee Harvey Oswald, was waiting in a “snipers nest” at the Texas School book depository (Dallas) and raised his rifle as the president drove pass, 12 meters underneath his feet. Pulling the trigger as Kennedy was half way down the road a 6.5 millimetre bullet pierced Kennedys coat from the rear, puncturing his spine, exiting around the Adam’s apple and following through to hit Connally. The pullet shattered Connally’s fifth rib bone, exited, broke a wrist bone, exited, and ended deep within Connally’s skin around his left
But all of this information does not answer the question of why Lee Harvey Oswald assassinated President Kennedy. We have determined that he acted alone in committing the deed, but did he act as a part of a larger conspiracy? Suspicious circumstances such as Jack Ruby’s actions two days after the assassination certainly seem to suggest a cover-up. If this were true, however, who is leading the cover-up? Was it the federal government? If so, was the investigation just for show? What about the Mafia, Cubans, Russians, or other interested parties? Did they play a
First, even though most everyone knows and thinks that Lee Harvey Oswald killed the President, there is no factual proof. The police were never able to actually question Oswald because Jack Ruby killed him just a few days before his trial. Supposedly Ruby shot Oswald because he was made at him for shooting the president, but that is not concrete. There is only speculation that Oswald was the man responsible for Kennedy’s assassination. The man the really shot him could still be out there, and we would never
John. F. Kennedy was in Dallas, Texas in a car driving down the street near the Texas book depository and a grassy knoll, when three shots were fired that ended Kennedy’s life, hitting him directly in the bottom neck and then the next shot fired went straight to his head, the second shot was fatal. While Lee Harvey Oswald was calmly eating his lunch in the Texas book depository in which he worked, they found a Carcano Model 91/38 infantry rifle on the sixth floor and again Oswald who was calmly eating his lunch, was the only one in the building. He was on the second floor when the police took him into questioning but while they were in the police station a man named Jack Ruby shot and killed
Detectives have intently scanned Kennedy’s autopsy and expressed, “…the fatal shot entered the president’s head from the front, not the back” (Rockwood). Oswald was positioned on the sixth floor in the building directly behind the motorcar at the moment Kennedy was shot. Although the President’s head was also penetrated in the back, the fatal blow entered from the front; therefore, conspiracy is a likely depiction. The guns were most likely shot simultaneously, considering that only two explosions were heard, yet more than two bullets were actually shot. Two assassins are required in order to launch two bullets at the same time from opposite angles. Continuing the search for evidence, CNN reporters interviewed Robert Groden, a conspiracy theorist, asking him what happened. Groden answered confidently, “The shots came from at least four different directions,” (“Did Lee Harvey”). Oswald would be unable to shoot Kennedy from four different positions. He must have had accomplices in order to target Kennedy in multiple spots. Grodens’ statement supports the autopsy study that indicates that Kennedy’s death was not an act of Oswald alone. Oswald would not be able to change position fast enough to shoot Kennedy in the penetrated areas of his cranium. The analysis of Kennedy showed that multiple bullets
There are many theories that go with this question. Here’s the list of the most known and compelling ones the CIA, the Mafia, sitting Vice President Lyndon B. Johnson, and the Babushka Lady. Ruben Castaneda, a conspiracy theorist/ journalist, stated "Based on the evidence, it is likely that JFK was killed by a coalition of anti-Castro Cubans, the Mob, and elements of the CIA." A show series named Buzzfeed Unsolved covers most of the CIA theories. The two hosts were explaining how the route of the motorcade had many turns that slowed down the ride and passed by so many windows. These former secret service agents Winston G Lawson and Forest V. Sorrels were sent out to check the route and noted that there were over 20,000 windows. Since they didn't have enough men they decided to inspect none of the windows. Seems very suspicious right? Not only that, but president Kennedy wanted to make some changes that the public and government didn't agree much. This is some evidence leading up for people to think that the CIA was involved. Now for the Mafia’s theory. Three mobs have separately claimed the assassination of president Kennedy. The Chicago, Miami, and New Orleans mobs all have a connection with the Mr.Kennedy and his family. Robert Kennedy, JFK’s brother, had made moves on these mobs to stop their crimes and end the posies. Jack Ruby, Oswald assassin, had connections with the mafias and some believe the CIA teamed up to get rid of Kennedy. Next is Lyndon B. Johnson’s theory. For this conspiracy many people believe that Johnson had Kennedy killed for political power. Some say that Kennedy and Johnson had words the day before of assassination. Lastly is the Babushka Lady, this lady had witnessed the whole thing with some odd details. As the president was getting shot the lady stayed there and had completely recorded the whole thing without running away. One conspiracy theorist said he had found
Countless witnesses of the assassination say that the direction of the bullets came not from the Texas School Book Depository, as was stated in the Warren Commission’s findings, but rather from the grassy knoll (Jack Hill). Jean Hill, who was standing on the south side of Elm Street, had an excellent view of the presidential limousine, and, more importantly, an excellent view of the grassy knoll. Less than an hour after the shooting, she said “The shots came from the hill [the grassy knoll] – it was just east of the underpass.” Charles Brehm was an ex-soldier and another eyewitness to the assassination. He was standing on the south side of Elm Street and was behind and to the left of the limousine, when the fatal shot occurred. Brehm saw a piece of Kennedy’s skull blown backward and to the left. The told newsmen that “the shots came from in front or beside the President” – the direction of the grassy knoll. Bill Lovelady was another witness to the shooting. He was standing on the front steps of the Texas School Book Depository Building. He said sounds of shots came from “right there around that concrete little deal on that knoll.” Lovelady told the FBI that he did not “at any time believe the shots had come from the Texas School Book Depository.” Lee Bowers was a railway signalman, and yet another eyewitness of the assassination. During the shooting, his attention was drawn to the area near the fence on the knoll, where he had seen the two men standing. Bowers reported that there was a “flash of light or smoke or something” that caused him to look at that spot. Kenny ...
Before the history project, I knew very little about the assassination of the 35th president of the United States. From my prior knowledge, I knew that he was killed in Dallas by Lee Harvey Oswald. I also watched a History Channel documentary exploring the factor of their only being one bullet that killed the president. They called it the “magic bullet” theory. This theory proposed that one bullet entered
