The Art of the Designer
The art of the designer is either shown as an important feature in the
setting of the play or is noticed through looking out of place. The
main features the designer has to concentrate on are:
The costume-which the character has to wear, if it reflects the
individuals personality e.g. red lipstick- confident.
Set Design- If the items co-ordinate with one another e.g. floor tiles
green and back cloth red, these two colours clash with one another.
The way the room is presented especially how the Club identity is
shown, being the main attraction.
Props- this is the extra equipment used to bring the setting to life.
Since concentrating on the theme of an 80's cocktail bar, the props
have to reflect an 80's style.
Lighting- this is the best way in which the designer can reflect off
the individual's mood, surrounding, character and time. This can be
done during change in atmosphere e.g. from the supermarket into the
bar or the change into male characters.
Special effects- these are used to exaggerate the setting if required.
Could be used to separate the bar from the dance floor, special
effects could be cast on dance floor to show this change.
Music- is not considered part of the design of the play, matter fact
it is important as it plays a role in the atmosphere of the Shakers
bar and the clothes shop. It can help show the time of day e.g. loud,
upbeat music for the daytime to attract lively customers and then a
much calmer suttle beat for the evening time.
As you can tell the art of designer also has a fairly important job in
the art of playwright. In the following paragraphs I am going to
explain the art of designer in full detail to give a better
understanding of the role.
The "Shakers" outfits are made in a way to represent an 80's style so
this has to be taken in consideration by the designer. They have to be
Not just designers, but also other artists that influence our daily lives like architects and animators and industrial designers. Practically any field you could possibly think of.
then it is crucial that as designers we are aware of the responsibility we hold
Graphic design is a type of art that has been around almost since the beginning of time. Its main purpose has always been to communicate something to the viewer, and this communication is being done through visuals and in some cases typography as well. An era of graphic design that revolutionized design into what we now know it as today is the Swiss design era. Specifically, work done by Armin Hofmann. His work is what kick started modern graphic design. His designs have a clean, minimal feel, which is popular even in today’s graphic design. Hofmann as well as other Swiss graphic designers in the modern art movement really set the bar for designers who came after them. The post-modern
Globalization accompanies with the localization. People often read design via their recognitions of visual signals. By creating a more humanistic approach to visual design, a global design consisting of localization, graphic signal, research, marketing, and both linguistic and semiotic communication to breakdown the global code of design (Jones, 2011).
In the United States, fine art education in public schools have been a controversial topic for years. Due to fundings, imagine your child had to choose between art or math. Well of course a parent would choose a math course because they would not survive society in their future without counting. Although, fine art gives an opportunity for a student to express themselves with their thoughts and feelings through the participation of the fine arts. As in today’s society everything is consider “art”. That everything could be in fashion styles to the structures of building such as the Space Needle in Seattle.
The Bauhaus was the most influential modernist art school of the 20th century as it laid many foundations for design theory and helped us understand the importance of art in relation to society and technology. Although the school was in operation only between 1919 and 1933, it was a major influence in the fields of architecture, graphic design, typography, industrial design and interior design long after it has closed.
Intro: International designer India Mahdavi’s name is a reflection of the stalwart herself, exotic, feminine and dramatic. Her work elicits a chic and universal sensibility capturing her design essence and draws influences from the memories of her gipsy life. From restaurant to a private residence, a furniture piece to an installation, each of her projects, carries a distinctly modern yet familiar quality. Playful and chic are just a few synonyms for her signature style.
In A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man, Stephen Dedalus defines beauty and the artist's comprehension of his/her own art. Stephen uses his esthetic theory with theories borrowed from St. Thomas Aquinas and Plato. The discourse can be broken down into three main sections: 1) A definitions of beauty and art. 2) The apprehension and qualifications of beauty. 3) The artist's view of his/her own work. I will explain how the first two sections of his esthetic theory relate to Stephen. Furthermore, I will argue that in the last section, Joyce is speaking of Stephen Dedalus and A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man as his art.
For example, the industrial designer's job is mainly to make discrimination based on social or cultural judgments may be regarded as aesthetic bad or good (Margolin, 2007). In addition, Tony Fry further claimed that these forms of judgments are different from one community to another community or culture to. As mentioned earlier, the quality of industrial products is seen as a major determining factor, can be regarded as "good design" for the eternal. Therefore, the appreciation on behalf of the historical research and design methods is crucial, as it tries to focus on the design development and production of products based on taste, timeless, good design products on behalf of a representative. As mentioned earlier, fried, historical appreciation designed products based on the recognition by representing local production and consumption (Margolin, 2002; Fry,
Aesthetics is the theoretical study of the arts and related types of behavior and experience. It is traditionally regarded as a branch of philosophy, concerned with the understanding of beauty and its manifestations in art and nature. However, in the latter 20th century there developed a tendency to treat it as an independent science, concerned with investigating the phenomena of art and its place in human life. Yet, what in a field with a hazy line in between being classified as a science or study of beliefs is considered data for determining what can be studied? It can simply be drawn to the only three things involved in the process of art : The creator, the person experiencing, and the art itself.
Fashion takes on many different facets and concerns many subsets— a model sashaying down the runway in a gown encrusted in real gems, Lady Gaga’s infamous dress made of cuts of raw beef, a teenage girl obsessing over the season’s latest styles— it is all an expression of our minds and who we are or want to be, made tangible. It is a medium just like any other, for while artists wield brushes and paints, designers use thread and cloth to illustrate their vision. The artistry is none more so apparent than in the exclusive world of haute couture, a world of extravagance that caters to aesthetics, producing one-of-a-kind wearable masterpieces that are made to be admired rather than worn. It is without doubt, high fashion and its design is an art.
Throughout the ages art has played a crucial role in life. Art is universal and because art is everywhere, we experience it on a daily basis. From the houses we live in (architecture) to the movies we see (theatre) to the books that we read (literature). Even in ancient culture art has played a crucial role. In prehistoric times cave dwellers drew on the wall of caves to record history. In biblical times paintings recorded the life and death of Christ. Throughout time art has recorded history. Most art is created for a specific reason or purpose, it has a way of expressing ideas and beliefs, and it can record the experiences of all people.
... life. Artist like their viewers to learn form their artwork or even be inspired by their artwork. When you look up art in today’s society you notice that it is the ones that establish the most unique strongest emotional bond between the audience and the artist who created the beautiful masterpiece that is being viewed. When you look at design today you know that the designers job is not to just invent something that is completely new to the viewers eye, but to communicate to the viewer. The designer wants to communicate with the viewer something that already exists for a purpose. The designer is trying to communicate a very specific message or visual to the targeted viewer. Distinguishing between art and design should be simple. Key things to keep in mind when thinking about art and design is that art is a form of expression and design is a form of communication.
‘You cannot hold a design in your hand. It is not a thing. It is a process. A system. A way of thinking.’ Bob Gill, Graphic Design as a Second Language.
In this age of technology, art is fundamentally essential for our society. Art brings beauty and creativity into the society. It is very important because it makes our society a better place. Art brings a sense of enjoyment and pleasure. Art allows for the expression of truth and beliefs. It portrays various ideas, feelings such as triumph, love, happiness, sorrow and boredom. Each and every message behind art shows ideas that are relevant to the society. The society can only be complete when there is a good balance between mechanical human capital and artistically inclined human capital. A healthy Malaysia is not only requires a good number of engineers, doctors, IT consultants, but also artists, designers, poets and singers to emerge as
