The Character that stood out to me the most in “The Art of Racing in the Rain” is Enzo the dog. The whole story is narrated by Enzo. Enzo is a dying dog but he is a thoughtful spirited dog who lives with a family that loves him. He has a knowledge of a human. Even though Enzo is dying he is ready to die because his ultimate destination is to be reincarnated as a human. While I was reading the story I could tell how much passion Enzo towards Denny. He wants the best for Denny. They do everything together, he would help Denny with his racing, and he has a lot of support to Denny.
In my life I experience a lot of hardships and heartbreak. I believe going through hard times can be a good thing because I learn more about myself, how I handle situations, and it may also teach me to be more humble. Life is tough and sometimes I have to face my challenges, but I don’t have to face my problems alone. Some say a dog is a man’s best friend. It’s because a dog can read

Each chapter that I read I get to know more and more of each characters personality. Making Enzo the narrator was a brilliant idea because it was interesting making a pet dog the narrator and knowing what is going on in Enzo’s brain. I believe they made Enzo the narrator because he has a knowledge of human and that people would say things in front of him without thinking that he understands what they are talking about, but Enzo is different, he understands. My favorite part of the story is that when Denny and Enzo reunited at the end of the story. Enzo was reincarnated as a young boy who is car racing fanatic and he is the number one fan of Denny. I would change nothing about the story, although I would want to see another book about Denny on his later years and life or how Enzo lives his life as a
There are some things I would have changed about the novel to make it more interesting reading and to broaden the type of audience it addresses. In my opinion, the book was kind of targeted at a feminine audience, especially single mothers. When Taylor and Lou Ann get together, Lou Ann sounds kind of pathetic saying " Who in the world would want to move in here with us" (102), yet they develop a strong friendship regardless. I had kind of a hard time focusing on what was going on and who was doing what mainly because the story wasn't interesting enough to attract my attention. Perhaps by throwing in a little more suspense or more action, the novel would have been more fun to read.
That exact statement makes me or any reader feel that failure doesn’t always have to be perceived to be negative. Failure can improve personal growth. We are always scared out the outcome failure will bring, but that is the silver lining for our personal growth. If we concentrate more on the effort we put into a certain task, we can grow by the steps we take along the way. Anyone can succeed, no matter their
Tough Times in The Shipping News. & nbsp ; & nbsp ; & nbsp ; & nbsp ; & nbs People in society tend to face many challenges that occur in their lives. Some of these challenges can affect people's lives in a positive or negative way. If they face their challenges in the negative way, they will suffer for a long time. Having confidence in themselves is considered the best way to overcome the suffering they have in their lives.
Living things have many different emotions, and because of that, they can react to the same situation in myriad ways. Garth Stein’s The Art of Racing in the Rain follows a family of three and their beloved dog on an adventure that involves love, grief, happiness, and death. Enzo is adopted by Denny when he is just a puppy, and observes as Denny’s family grows, along with his bliss. Nevertheless, this does not last when it is discovered that Denny’s wife, Eve has cancer and she soon after dies. Because of Eve’s death and some of the many other events in the characters’ lives, the characters in The Art of Racing in the Rain are all realistic and have many varieties of traits.
The Art of Racing in the Rain is, by far, the best book I have ever read. The story takes place in Seattle, Washington. It is told completely through a dog’s eyes. This special dog, Enzo, is adopted from a small farm in Washington when he is just a puppy. His view of life is interesting; Enzo only has gestures. He cannot communicate like humans can. Life is very humble and simple through the eyes of a dog.
This quote helped me feel better and concentrate for my better future. I just want the people that read this to know everyone goes through hardships, and there is an ending to the pain and sadness you feel now. I’ve come to realize sulking won’t get me anywhere and I need to move on and become who I want to be, and this quote helped me do
In theory, political campaigns are the most important culmination of the democratic debate in American politics. In practice, however, the media shrouds society’s ability to engage in a democratic debate with unenlightening campaign coverage. Because of this, it is difficult—if not impossible—to have educated political discourse in which the whole, factual truth is on display. After years of only seeing the drama of presidential campaigns, the American public has become a misinformed people.
Everyone has a different viewpoint on what it is like to go through a hardship in your life. Some people view struggles in life as a strength and that they build character. Others view struggles as a sign of defeat and that they should just give up. For example, the hardest thing that a middle class, 17 year old girl might have had to endure in her life so far is a heart-wrenching breakup with her first boyfriend of three months. While a lower class, 17 year old girl has had to take over the role of mother in her house with 4 young siblings, no father, and a mother who is at work all day, barely breaking even at the end of the month. Both girls are going through a hardship in their lives, but one might view the other as less severe of a struggle
A Mark IV Toyota Supra and Chevy Camaro SS pull up at a red light on a lonesome stretch of flat road amongst a dimming blue sky; the drivers nod at one another, rev the engines, and jam the accelerator pedals. When two drivers try to outrace each other on public streets, automobile driving makes a turn into the illegal form of motor racing known as street racing. Several possible causes to this aggressive street driving include a recent release of movies that inspire racing by the desire to fulfill the adrenaline rush raging in young people, the overall convenience of street racing, and most importantly, a way for teenagers to achieve nobility status in a short a time.
Do you know that all the struggles you have in life are there for a reason? Do you know that when you think you cannot go on anymore there is God there to pick you up? Be thankful for the struggles you go through because they make you wiser, stronger, and more humble as a person. When you think why me, why did I have to get this? No matter how low you are there is always someone there who can pick you back up on your
In his story “On the Rainy River” Tim O’Brien is explaining to us how he had to chose to either go to war or stay at his home. He had to make a big decision about if he really wanted to go to Vietnam War. Some things that stand out about the main character is that he is a very brave person and will give up his body to do what is right. While reading this I can see that the main character is very powerful and very unafraid of certain things. At the same time he also was afraid of certain things because he does not believe in the war. He doesn’t necessarily believe in the war he really just doesn’t support it at all. Even though he really doesn’t support this he still ends up going because it’s in his religious to do things like that. Another
I believe a lot of people have a pet dog, and most of the time people are wondering what they are thinking. The art of racing in the rain will be a really good choice for them, it is a fiction written by Garth Stein. Throughout the book, the author used an Irish terrier as the main character who talks about his life experience through the whole book. The dog’s name is Enzo, Denny is his master, who is another main character in the book, he works in an auto shop, but he really wants to be a professional racecar driver. Denny has a wife named Eve and Daughter Zoe, Enzo and Denny have overcome a lot of challenges together, which made Enzo a really special dog for Denny because he could understand Denny.
I agree with the piece by Balvin Kaur “ During the operation, some of them rode against traffic flow in their bid to escape from us. But they could not escape”, he said. (The Star, September 7). I like on what authorities had done to the illegal racing, they were very strict toward them. The illegal racing gives many effects to society such as, it can cause the traffic jam. Besides, illegal racing is danger to others and it can tarnish our country reputation.
People don't truly accept life for what it is until they've actually tasted adversity and went through those misfortunes and suffering. We are put through many hardships in life, and we learn to understand and deal with those issues along the way. We find that life isn't just about finding one's self, but about creating and learning from our experiences and background. Adversity shapes what we are and who we become as individuals. Yann Martel's Life of Pi shows us that adverse situations help shape a person's identity and play a significant role in one's lief by determining one's capabilities and potential, shaping one's beliefs and values, and defining the importance and meaning of one's self.
I am weak in some respects, but in others I am strong. My life is a balance of ups and downs. With my extremes however, my scales never fulfill the word "balance." The ups and downs equal a median on which I travel daily. I love those who understand me, who chose to come close to the fire, who stay long enough to love its warmth, and who know how to avoid being burned. I don’t trust people easily. I don’t throw around my heart. I’ve lost love from my lack of giving. I regret this.
