PROBLEM AND ITS BACKGROUND The vocabulary of most college students specifically the sophomores and the juniors is acquired through modern media of watching films. Related studies discussed the effects of watching films in vocabulary learning and effects of subtitling in movies.

There are advantages and disadvantages to the people using this kind of medium. Television is one of example of this, which we frequently used in our everyday life. It exposes us to different kinds of information about lifestyle, sports, business, economy, showbiz etc. but it also show us violence, sexuality and other negative data which affects the viewer’s social behavior. Radio is often used to listen to songs, can be old songs and trendy songs, live program shows like Papa Jack Wild Confessions and updated news about traffic advisory and weather condition that can give us accurate information.
