Telecommuting is a chosen work option that may be appropriate for some employees and some positions, functions, and activities. The arrangement will not change the terms and conditions of employment. The success of telecommuting success depends on the unit and the employees; this means all telecommuting must be transparent to all individuals involved this includes the telecommuting peers and co-workers. The advantages of using telecommuting begin with enabling employees the freedom to choose their work hours as well as their work location and as a result it gives employees the flexibility to balance their work responsibilities with their personal obligations. Statistic show that often employees working from home have the potential to be more productive because they do not have added distractions. Telecommuters are prone to be content in their jobs and are therefore more likely to remain with the company(Doyle). The advantages of the communities are telecommuting decrease traffic accidents; it takes the pressure off our transportation infrastructure thereby reducing the wear and tear of our roads. Endorsing workplace camaraderie is difficult through a computer screen and phone; however, with a lot of work it can be done. The implementation of an overwhelming schedule can lead to burnout. Creating a work schedule and sticking to it daily can cause stress. It is imperative for employees who participate in telecommuting to get out of bed and dress as if they were going to the office. After all it is the employee responsibility to manage their career while balancing a flexible schedule (Healy).
My recommendations are by implementing telecommuting MedEx would have the advantage of incurring flexible hours which would be a benefit for the employee by reducing high stress levels and balancing their other responsibilities. MedEx would benefit by reducing the high turnover rate and costly overhead. MedEx can improve their profits while helping their employees to improve their home and family environment by saving time and expense on resources thus maintaining and sustaining valuable
