Telecommuting as A Work Arrangement
Telecommuting is a chosen work option that may be appropriate for some employees and some positions, functions, and activities. The arrangement will not change the terms and conditions of employment. The success of telecommuting success depends on the unit and the employees; this means all telecommuting must be transparent to all individuals involved this includes the telecommuting peers and co-workers. Alternative phrases for telecommuting is working from home, or e-commuting. In short telecommuting is an arrangement in which employees work outside the organizations

The advantages of using telecommuting begin with enabling employees the freedom to choose their work hours as well as their work location and as a result it gives employees the flexibility to balance their work responsibilities with their personal obligations. Statistic show that often employees working from home have the potential to be more productive because they do not have added distractions. Telecommuters are prone to be content in their jobs and are therefore more likely to remain with the company(Doyle). The advantages of the communities are telecommuting decrease traffic accidents; it takes the pressure off our transportation infrastructure thereby reducing the wear and tear of our roads. Endorsing workplace camaraderie is difficult through a computer screen and phone; however, with a lot of work it can be done. The implementation of an overwhelming schedule can lead to burnout. Creating a work schedule and sticking to it daily can cause stress. It is imperative for employees who participate in telecommuting to get out of bed and dress as if they were going to the office. After all it is the employee responsibility to manage their career while balancing a flexible schedule (Healy).
My recommendations are by implementing telecommuting MedEx would have the advantage of incurring flexible hours which would be a benefit for the employee by reducing high stress levels and balancing their other responsibilities. MedEx would benefit by reducing the high turnover rate and costly overhead. MedEx can improve their profits while helping their employees to improve their home and family environment by saving time and expense on resources thus maintaining and sustaining valuable
The economic impact of telehealth is a critical factor to examine when looking at the feasibility of incorporating such technologies into practice. Exploration of economics is also essential as it has been posited that telehealth has the potential to deliver care to individuals that is cost saving in nature (Wade, Karnon, Elshaug, & Hiller, 2010). Furthermore, the estimated expenditure on telehealth services and technology is expected to reach into the billions of dollars (Berger, 2010). However, there are myriad individual elements that may be considered in the broad subject of economics, which complicates determining the economic impact in a parsimonious way (Bergmo, 2009; Wade, et al., 2010).

Teamwork has become increasingly important as workers no longer focus on just getting their own tasks or the specific tasks of their department done but with working together with their teammates and other departments in achieving corporate goals. As the textbook states, while interactions occur between a manager and their subordinate, interactions occur between a manager and other teams and groups (Landy & Conte, 2013, p. 502). Telecommuting is a way to offer a work-life balance while keeping key people. However, the leader is challenged with keeping track of these employees in regard to monitoring what they are doing and communicating with them (Landy & Conte, 2013, p. 502). Telecommuting is difficult as the manager has difficulty building a relationship with these employees as well as balancing how to keep them engaged in what is going on in the company. They should be in the office periodically in order to keep grounded with the company. Temporary workers are a way of filling a void when additional resources are needed. Temporary resources are used when a company has fluctuating production needs. The challenge is that they may not have the same level of commitment to or have the same values as employees that are full time (Landy & Conte, 2013, p. 504).
In the previous study, the authors stated that there are various studies about the telecommuting include references to corporate attitudes toward telecommuting, motivation, productivity, supervision and employee satisfaction.
Improving health is in the best interest of everyone, including non-health professionals. Health managers need to be constantly looking for ways to improve access to health care, the quality of the care, and cost containment. Often, the biggest barriers to accessing healthcare are cost and location. Lower income individuals just do not have the resources to have optimal healthcare, or cannot take the time away from employment to deal with health issues. One potential solution to help with these problems could be “telehealth.”

Dear Mr. Hall, I am writing to you concerning an article that you wrote on the explicit execution of Robert Harris. Its descriptive language is unwanted and it’s surprising that you were allowed to write this dramatized nonsense of an article. You should be ashamed of yourself for turning an inhumane execution into a shallow opinion piece which belongs only on the internet. Your views are thinly veiled and terribly shallow as you do not even try to delve into the other side of the story. The main theme is portraying how much of a monster Harris is and how he deserves death, however, the biased viewpoint and dramatized style is unprofessional.

A typical day for most people in today's world starts out with an early commute to work. People working in the city know what a hassle it is to deal with the many thousands of other trying to make their way to work. Dealing with long commutes and traffic congestion is a commonplace in today's fast-paced society. What if you had a chance to do most of your work at home? Would it be beneficial to you and your company? That is a common question one, which more and more companies are finding out is the future of business.
The good and bad of telecommuting Telecommuting may be the movement of the future, which will allow more people to work away from the office. Many people see telecommuting as a way to be close to home or allow them to be connected to their organization while working abroad. While telecommuting might work for some people, telecommuting is not for everyone. There are many disadvantages as well advantages to telecommuting which most people do not take into account. When considering telecommuting, the advantages fall for both employer and employee.
The workplace today goes beyond just the walls and ceilings that surround an office environment or office building. According to the International Telework Association and Council, 44.4 million Americans worked from home at least part of the time in 2004, up 7.5% from just on year earlier (Earthweb, 2005). Though it may be very convenient to work from home, the choice can bring its own set of problems. There are financial reasons, efficiencies, and even managing time are just a few to name that bring about many challenges and issues that any remote employee would face in that type of work environment.
What is telecommuting, and why would anyone want to either be employed by or employ others to work from their home? The telecommuting employees are “Salaried employees of an organization replace or modify the commute by working at home or a location closer to home than the regular workplace, generally using ICT to support productivity and communication with the supervisor, co-workers, clients, and other colleagues.” (Hoang, Nickerson, Beckman, & Eng, 2008) and according to studies 47 percent of telecommuting workers report that they are more productive while working from home due to a lessening of stress and increased satisfaction in their career - while their employers glean the benefit of saving 63 percent of the cost of absenteeism and save thousands of dollars annually over traditionally employed workers. (Potter, 2003) While some may say that in order to function properly in a workplace you have to be in the workplace, with minor adjustments in technology on both the employer’s and employee’s part telecommuting has become a proven, viable way for businesses to function profitably while their workforce remains able to reduce the stress of commuting on their personal and family lives.

Imagine the ability to obtain healthcare services from almost anywhere in the world where you have access to a phone or computer. Now, imagine being able to provide nursing assessments, diagnosis, treatments, and recommendations to your patients from your home to almost anywhere in the world. Lauren Stokowski (2008) noted in her article that one fourth of the United States has rural residents. That number may appear small in comparison to the urban residences; however, rural residents have a tendency to to have “higher poverty rates, larger percentage of elderly, and tend to be in poorer health”. Could telenursing be a solution?
