His cause is something that most people don’t know about, E-waste. E-waste (electronic waste) is electronics that are not recycled or reused. According to http://www.takepart.com/article/2010/04/05/alex-lin-teenage-activist, in 2004, when Alex was only 9 years old, he read a news article in a Wall Street Journal article about E-waste. This all started team W.I.N. or the Westerly Innovations Network. This is Alex’s team of friends that tries to stop E-waste. Subsequently, Alex realized that reusing computers is more efficient than recycling them. This resulted in Alex Lin creating 7 media centers with refurbished computers that team W.I.N. have collected. According to http://www.takepart.com/article/2010/04/05/alex-lin-teenage-activist, Alex lin stated, “We recognized that the true sustainability of our project lay in legislation.” Meaning that they would try to pass laws banning E-waste. Teen activists are inspiring and helpful. They are the ones who are determined to make a difference in the world. They are the ones who never give up on their dreams and hopes. Through their thoughts, sacrifice, determination, and their inspiring heart, they make the world happy, so everyone can live equally. The protest was filled with music, art, scenery, and dancing. A large number of people were arrested for protesting, but that didn´t stop the protest to continue.

Anyone today can form an activist organization which supports a specific cause. There are a lot of organizations that strive to positively influence the world. A good example of a Canadian organization which is trying to change things around and is succeeding in doing so is MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving). Mothers Against Drunk Driving is an organization which aims to minimize impaired driving as much as possible in order to prevent the accidents that result from it. It was founded in 1980 by a woman called Candy Lightner who lost her daughter to drunk driving and strongly believed that it was an issue that needed to be dealt with. A lot of people joined her organization and today MADD has over 3 million members. MADD holds awareness campaigns in order to spread awareness about the dangers of driving under the influence.
