Have you ever overcome any challenges or obstacles? Well that is what a teen activist have to do. While teen activists are fighting for their causes they come up against groups that try to stop them. These groups use both physical and mental violence against the activists. Those are some challenges and obstacles that teen activism overcome. A teen activist is when a teen helps make changes in the world or make differences in the world. The first reason why teen activism overcome challenges and obstacles is physical and mental violence. Finally he simply became obsessed with and would go looking for any reason to fight people. He had slowly became the person he had feared as a child. After a long time he was sick of what he had become and turned to creativity to change that. He began to write and from that writing he realized that he did not need to fight he could write and that writing made him feel better than fighting ever did. Writer, political activist, and feminist Malala Yousafzai once said, “One child, one teacher, one book, and one pen, can change the world.” Education is not a luxury, but rather a basis for survival; sadly, thirty-one million females ages five through eleven are not in a primary school and seventeen million of these females are expected to never enroll in school (Education). Malala Yousafzai fought, and is currently still fighting for education rights for women and children (Van). Malala Yousafzai defied a law which she determined unjust and was prepared to pay the ultimate price: her life. Due to Yousafzai’s personal beliefs, she choose to participate in civil disobedience by protesting the ban on education. Malala Yousafzai was successful in her actions through the use of peaceful protest. Yousafzai committed an act of civil disobedience in the eyes of the Taliban. Civil disobedience is defined as peace protest that violates a law intentionally (Suber).In addition to
Charles Starkweather was from a respectable hard-working family in Lincoln, Nebraska. Though they were not wealthy by any stretch of the imagination, the Starkweathers always provided for their large family. As a child, Starkweather suffered from several ailments that made him different and a target of bullies (Allen, 2004). In fact, he used his physical strength to get back at many of his childhood bullies. He was able to release much of the anger he held inside when he was able to physically bully those that had bullied him. Overall, Starkweather lived much of his life as a social outcast and blamed many of his problems on his inability to “blend-in” with his peers.
Alex Rider made it very clear near the middle of the book that he is not the cowardly character I truly thought he was. He changed a great deal from the beginning of the story from a fearful fourteen year old boy to a courageous young man at the end of the story. Alex learns about how sometimes, you should put other’s needs (and in this case lives) in front of his own. This is a great lesson he learned because the people who follow this teaching are the people who make a difference in society today. This whole idea links all the way back to my thesis that courage is necessary and is measured by someone’s ability and willingness to express courage, not by their size or strength because that lesson definitely requires courage.
In protest to this, Malala Yousafzai, a Pakistani girl, refused to follow these rules, and even began a blog for the British Broadcasting Corporation, detailing her life under Taliban rule. In response to her protest, a gunman approached her, and shot her three times. This assassination attempt started a global movement in support of Yousafzai and her beliefs. Like Thoreau, Gandhi, King, and Yousafzai, one must realize when others are being oppressed and take action against those in power who oppress the people they rule. Otherwise, there will never be change, and the world will never see justice.

Teen activists are inspiring and helpful. They are the ones who are determined to make a difference in the world. They are the ones who never give up on their dreams and hopes. Through their thoughts, sacrifice, determination, and their inspiring heart, they make the world happy, so everyone can live equally. Three teen activists, Malala Yousafzai, Alex Lin, and Iqbal Masih, use their personalities and inspiration so that they can stop unfair education, pollution, and child labor. They are willing to sacrifice to help the world and change history.
American teenagers are often criticized for being irresponsible and immature. Some in the older generation will also state that kids are taking too long to move out of the house. These views of young adults are pessimistic and demeaning to the current generation. While the adolescent stage has been extended, American kids are taking an ample amount of time to accept the responsibilities of becoming an adult.
Every good writer has to overcome obstacles to be successful. Authors Sherman Alexie and Frederick Douglass both describe a common obstacles that they share in their essays, they both have to rebel against society to better themselves and to help others.
