Business Ethics – Task 1 Business Ethics Cherena Roland Student #000381109 In order for a business to be successful it must have a strong policy on business ethics in place and a culture that is developed based on core values that should be clearly defined. An organization must do everything within its control to uphold promises made to employees as well as commitments to partners, such as the community where they are located. TechFite is known for leadership development and employee empowerment. The purpose of his policy is to provide employees with options to further their education in an effort to develop as a leader. for Techfite to reimburse a portion of the cost to the employee. 2. The ethical and legal issues at stake in the scenario i. Excessive bonus payouts to executives when non-executive employees are given reduced hours and no benefits due to a lack of funding is unethical and does not support the company’s culture. Bonuses should only been paid when all company goals and budgets have been met as well as maintained employee satisfaction. ii. The agreements made by TechFite to the employees included full-time hours and benefits which is an implied agreement. Corporate social responsibility (CSR) is the key to any company’s success. While the traditional role of being a CSR company was primarily focused from a regulatory perspective; Techfite believes that their role as being a CSR company is to maintain a balance with the company’s priorities of being a great place to work paired with their social and environmental responsibilities as a being corporate citizen. They also believe that they must use their powers of success as a tool in being a contributing partner of society through improving the prosperity and durable setting when it pertains to their employees and the community.
