It is unethical for companies to target uninformed consumers, if a product doesn't receive much recognition because it lacks a certain aspect they should view it as a source of improving their product. On another note perhaps the product was lacking advertisement. If this is the case then the company top priority should be to focus on commercials or social media to inform consumers. It is a very shady act to target the uninformed because from a persons point a view they might get the image that a company isn't confident or prideful in themselves. So they rely on taking shortcuts to achieve financial success instead of being a noble company and providing the resources necessary to reach that success.

The company should launch out surveys about their product to see what is the problem. Then start working on making changes so the product can be the best out on the market. With this companies should be on fast track to making more profitable sales, they should also improve the information on the products box. Companies should be able to learn from the mistakes with the first product for the future. If a company can figure out was wrong with the failure launch of the first product they can avoid those mistakes. Thus they don't have to spend more money on research …show more content…
In some cases it may not hurt the consumer but it could hurt a companies image with that customer and spread. A great example would be Bungie's game Destiny. People were more than angry when a year after Destiny's release Bungie released the same game with the 2 DLC's (downloadable content) plus the new The Taken King expansion for more than a mere $40 USD. Now this may confuse some people and they might think "Whats the big deal?" the problem was if a consumer was a veteran player and bought all the content for original price they payed a whooping $145 USD. Another reason consumers were angry was because special gear was also awarded to new players that veteran players couldn't receive. Bungie got serious backlash from the community because players who supported them from the get go didn't anything special reward from Bungie. This has hurt the companies image because now they get nothing but backlash whenever they make a post on social media claiming that nobody will remember Destiny and other major hyped games will be the final nail in the coffin for Destiny and its
American’s and people in general are an audience targeted for various commodities, advertising being a major contributor. The world of advertising has become a multiplex science, as mentioned in “What We Are to advertisers,” Twitchell divides consumers into 8 categories and Craig, in “Men’s Men and Women’s Women,” concludes there are specific times of day for advertisements to be displayed to reach specific audiences. “Mass production means mass marketing, and mass marketing means the creation of mass stereotypes,” claims Twitchell. These stereotypes of men, women, and humans in general are how advertiser’s reach their targeted audiences.
Is it ethical to target uninformed consumers? Direct-to-consumer (DTC) advertising refers to one of the marketing strategies in a pharmaceutical industry. As pharmaceutical products directly affect people's lives and health, many industrialized countries ban DTC advertisements; the United States and New Zealand are the only industrialized countries that allow DTC advertising of prescription medicines. However, there is a controversy over whether DTC advertising, as one of the most effective forms of mass communication, should be more regulated than it is now. This debate is ongoing. This research argument, however, contends that people need stronger regulations against many DTC advertisements in the pharmaceutical industry because they are usually manipulative and misleading to people.
At first I was a little hesitant, walking by the small market stand full of hair styling products I have never seen before. As usual, there is a salesman standing on the other side trying to persuade every individual to buy their new products. That may seem familiar and yes it can be very annoying. Targeting uninformed consumers is extremely unethical because the consumer most likely is not interested and they may be getting lied to. Many people know they will say anything to them to buy their product. In fact, two thirds of salesmen admit they lie about products they sell. Usually when someone is interested in a product, they will proceed to the salesman to learn more. But now, the salesmen are going out of their way to inform others about
Companies realize what people need and they take it as sources to produce commodities. However, companies which have famous brands try to get people’s attention by developing their products. Because there are several options available of commodities, people might be in a dilemma to choose what product they looking for. In fact, that dilemma is not real, it is just what people want. That is what Steve McKevitt claims in his article “Everything Now”. When people go shopping there are limitless choices of one product made by different companies, all choices of this product basically do the same thing, but what makes them different is the brand’s name. Companies with brands are trying to get their consumers by presenting their commodities in ways which let people feel impressed, and that are some things they need to buy. This is what Anne Norton discussed in her article “The Signs of Shopping”. People are often deceived by some famous brands, which they will buy as useless commodities to feel they are distinctive.

...increase. Now a day they done anything to earn more money. For some time they are taking advantage on some people especially for those people that lack of knowledge. Usually this type of people always take an advantage and try to manipulate and use it for a legal use. The action from the legal use may give lot of benefit to them. But for the victim of the product may facing with lost. This is because the amount of money that been spend are not equivalent to the quality or the function of the product. People now days are very smart where they will find the best even thought it was expensive. They thought that why must spend for twice to have a best product. As usual human weakness is they are easily trust to people that just tell the product without checking the record of the product. So bluffing ethical may be happen.
This doesn’t affect them, as there is no competition consumers can go to so they are either forced to either not buy the good or service or pay an extremely high price for it. This is why monopolies are bad for the economy. They take advantage of the vulnerability of consumers and exploit the very system that was designed for competition. Speaking of competition, it is the essence of what free market is supposed to be; businesses fighting to grow within a vast market filled with companies like themselves. Perfect competition involves unlimited demand, many buyers and sellers, businesses being price takers and not price makers and everyone having perfect technology to produce their goods or supplying their services. Competition is the best way for the public good. The prices are low as companies try to distinguish themselves from the rest of the market and therefore lowering prices to stand out which is good for the consumer. Everyone is awarded for hard work, as there is no monopoly to have an unfair advantage in the market, which is good for businesses. When there is perfect competition everyone is treated fairly. But as it is the case with many theories, it doesn’t work well in real life because of

In addition, it should make sure that it maximizing the areas such as China that have proven to be beneficial in terms of sales (Luo, 2001). In neutralizing the threats, the company should work on producing unique products, that are highly effective and affordable.

The failure to disclose, product disparagement, and flawed and insignificant research all constitute false advertising (False Advertising, n.d.). Advertisements can be considered misleading if they contain misstatements or partially correct statements that fail to disclose something that the consumer should know. Product disparagement is when one advertisement maligns a competitor’s product. Advertisers boasting claims that have not been validated can be faulted for flawed advertising for failing to the research and test necessary to substantiate their claims (Advertising FAQ's: A Guide for Small Business,
