Would you believe that you were visually impaired because you were stupid enough to stare at an eclipse for hours? In the novel Tangerine by Edward Bloor, Paul and his family move to Tangerine County, Florida to pursue the Erik Fisher football dream. Only, when they get there, the lies planted by Paul’s own family start to slowly leak out. Mrs. Fisher had the greatest impact on Paul because she didn’t tell him the truth about his vision, signed Paul up for an IEP and “lost” the same IEP. An important choice Mrs. Fisher made that affected Paul is signing Paul up for an IEP. Paul’s mom gave Paul an IEP because she wanted an all access pass tour of Paul’s new school. To get her wish, she said Paul was legally blind and was hoping to get a run through of the school before hand. Fisher made both positive and negative choices that affected Paul. A negative choice Mrs. Fisher made was at the school, Mrs. Fisher signed an IEP form for Paul so she could get a tour of the school but didn't realise Paul would get kick off the soccer team which had a negative effect on him. To make it up to him, she made a positive choice by “losing” his IEP form so he could play for the Tangerine Middle War Eagles. The last negative choice Mrs. Fisher made was hiding the truth behind Paul's eyesight so he wouldn't forever hate his brother Erik. Mrs. Fisher meant well, but twice she negatively influenced Paul into hating himself and losing the privilege to play on the Lake Windsor Downs soccer team. If Paul's mom never made these choices, Paul could have played on the Lake Windsor Downs soccer team and the Tangerine Middle soccer team and Mrs. Fisher could've skipped the trouble of signing and “losing” an IEP form. If Paul knew the truth about Erik, he would have been in fear of Erik his whole life, it would extremely affect Paul's actions and his personality would be
