With the utmost enthusiasm, I would like to express my interest in “The View” Production Internship for Fall 2018 position with Disney ABC Television Group. During my free time, anyone can find me watching YouTube clips of “The View” over and over as if I haven’t already seen them once or twice before. My interest in talk show production began in 2012 when my friend and I decided to produce and host our own talk show on Youtube called “The Continuous Conversation”. Our target audience was female and male millennials and we discussed current events, entertainment news, and social debates. We were able to garner a substantial amount of viewers and I fell in love with being able to help other millennials deal with life through our open conversations. That experience ultimately led me to pursue my passion. Since then I have worked in many areas in the media/entertainment industry all in pursuit of building my resume and learning as much as I can in preparation for working in day-time television. I have been looking forward to embarking on this journey since I heard about this organization freshman year. I am truly elated to be one of the many students that qualifies, as I know the standards of excellence and character that must be exemplified and met.
The Honors Program is less about reward and more about the push for personal growth for myself. The last four years have shown to be a challenge, from being the first year student in Pre-calculus to being the junior who is aiming for a five on the AP test. I came from having mostly A’s, with few B’s, to being the student who earned A’s in every class. Personal motivation led me to this achievement. The Honors Program at CSU looks like a program to help me continue my journey of gaining knowledge. Being a member of this program would give my motivation to continue to strive for those higher grades. It is in my interest to be in this program to keep my performance in classes at the upper level. This program would allow me to focus on academics and strive for the best grades personally possible.

“Speak” by Laurie Halse Anderson presents Melinda’s (a teenage girl) life as she drifts through her adolescent years, where she struggles to overcome internal depression, as well as typical issues, involving her social life. Melinda’s life in an obscure world, where enigmatic challenges constantly clog her path towards a normal and healthy life, she feels lost and betrayed. Likewise, the boy that raped her attends the same school as her, causing her to have constant memories of the event. Thus, Melinda’s defective life compromising of rape, lack of communication, and depression mirrors the lives of many teens around the world. In addition, this book revolves around the dominant theme of adolescence, resulting to an effect of a realistic- fiction novel.
At the start of the semester, my oblivious state of nature associating with the Chinese culture reached an unacceptable level. Implementing a necessary change, I decided to educate myself on different cultures starting with China. I failed to ponder that such a rich, deep culture existed outside America. Encompassed by this country’s unique yet suffocating melting pot culture, my outlook believed ideas such as uniformity between American Chinese food and Authentic Chinese food. After this course, my bigot perspective widened as I witnessed diversity in the world. Before this class, when I thought of Chinese food, my connotation jumped to thoughts associated with chop suey, but as I progressed my education, my mindset gradually pondered foods like steamed buns or “New Year Cakes” with authentic Chinese food.
When I think of the National Honor Society, I think of a group of hard-working, talented students dedicated to their future and their community. In my high school career, National Honor Society members have always been people to look up to, not only for their status, but for everything it stands for.
An example of how this all came together was the Chartwell Senior Star competition – an American Idol for seniors. A seven-year national TV special, as the In-house Producer and Creative Director. I was responsible for the print and online promotion, in-house production and venue coordination as well as approving the final edits for broadcast. I never once thought by watching a television show I would find what I wanted as a career. It all started when one of my best friends Raman introduced to me, an amazing show, criminal minds. I have always liked shows where it had me thinking who murdered them and how can I stop them from hurting more individuals. I had no doubt in mind I was gonna get addicted to that show. Seasons and episodes passed by with me still intrigued with the criminal’s mind.
Passion for Family, Community, Business, Technology and Intellectual growth are what motivate me on the daily basis. These are vital parts that have contributed to framing me into the person I’ve become. They have also shaped my short-term and long-term goals in life. It’s critical for one to have a vision for their life and what they anticipate to accomplish. Without a vision or desire there is no hope for one to continue and to purse anything. My experiences with in my passions have helped me aligned my vision for my life. They have given me the valuable knowledge that have set me up for success to get to this point in life.

Going into college everyone expects us to know what we want to do with the rest of our life. That is a huge decision to make after living only 18 years. As teenagers we can’t decide what we want to where the next day, how are we supposed to choose what we will do for the rest of our lives? With the average cost of college ranging between $8,500 for a four-year public college and $29,000 for a four-year private college per year. (College Board) Can college students afford to make the wrong decision? Shocking facts reveal that around 75 percent students will switch majors from the time they start college till their graduation day.( Freedman) This just adds more money on to the two words no one wants to hear, “Student loans.” When we finally get to graduation the excitement is short-lived with the way the economy is going now. A college degree may not be enough to land a job that will pay the bills and 6 months later we start to get the bills for that degree.
