The ability to consider yourself to have talent is to believe that your skills are good and outstanding. Meaning everyone has talent no matter the impact or “wow” factor it causes on others. Some examples of talents that usually don’t come to mind when thinking about the word talent are having great leadership skills. In the journal “Mindset embraces sales skills and talents” by Leanne Haogland-Smith, she analysis that people who have the attitude of a candid leader have a special talent that allows them to succeed in many management and business roles. The author further analyzes that these individuals strive with skills that not many people have as they build trust between people giving them an interpersonal talent. Having an interpersonal talent means you could have an empathetic outlook, great persuasion skills, or just being able to relate to others. Another talent is having a humorous personality, being able to change the atmosphere of a situation just with your personality is a talent that should be valued as not many have the confidence or personality type to make another person react positively because of your humor. In the end, it is important to acknowledge the fact that everyone has a talent regardless how insignificant it may seem. Even if you don’t think you have a talent that solidifies a skill you excel in, it’s only a matter of time for you to realize that succeeding in life is a talent in its
I enjoyed reading Disciplined Hearts by Theresa O'Nell because i find that many people today do not know a lot about the Native American culture and what they have been through. Their cultures history is not talked about as much the African American or Hispanic's are. Most Americans know about the hardships that the African American and Hispanics had to overcome to assimilate to the level that they are today. I think O'Nell is trying to talk about the history of the Native American culture because, she believes that the reason that their culture is not well-known because of the fact that they have chosen to keep living like their ancestors and not assimilate to the American culture.
The Overachievers by Alexandra Robbins is a non- fiction book that follows the lives of nine high school/ college overachieving students. On the outside they look healthy, happy, and perfect, but upon closer look the reader realizes just how manic their lives and the lives of many other high scholars are. It is no secret that high school and college has become more competitive, but the public doesn’t realize just out of control this world is. “Overachieverism” has become a way of life, a social norm. It is a world-wide phenomenon that has swamped many of the world’s top countries. Students are breaking under the immense amount of pressure that society puts on them. They live in constant fear that they will not live up to society’s, or their own, standards. People have put so much emphasis on students to succeed and to outperform their peers, and all before them, that it is changing them, and is having irreversible effects on them.
My best asset when communicating would be my ability to empathize with other people. I am very good at putting myself in others shoes and I think that makes me a better communicator. People appreciate when you feel for them, and feel cared
Outliers by Malcolm Gladwell was trying to convey that successful people such as Bill Gates, Steve Jobs and the Beatles were famous due to external factors such as birthplace, family status and right timing. Basically saying that it's not just the hardest working people who become successful. It’s the ones who were graced with the right opportunities and that successful people are the ones who take advantage of them. I have strong feelings about this topic and felt myself disagreeing with a lot of the books ideas and concepts. What is talent?

In order to succeed, one needs passion, challenges, and inspiration. Becoming a welterweight world champion doesn’t come suddenly, rather it’s a lengthy process that tests determination and perseverance to become such a great athlete. Without the overconsuming desire to overcome his odds, Peekay would be satisfied with failure. He wouldn’t have done all things he did to stand up for himself. In the book Power of One, Bryce Courtenay incorporates the theme, overcoming overwhelming odds, to display the impact of inspiration, give depth into Peekay's characteristics, and show how there is difficulty in accomplishing success.
One of my greatest skills is being able to be compassionate towards others. By placing myself into someone else’s shoes, I find myself being able to better understand where other people are coming from. I am an extremely caring person that will go to great lengths for anyone. I can easily overlook the differences in other people, and this is what helps me get along with almost anyone that I come across. In order to lead people in a positive direction you need to be able to relate to them on a more personal level. It is much easier when people feel comfortable around their leader. I always like to lend a helping hand or even a shoulder to cry on when it is needed. My strengths include integrity, optimism, faith, innovation, and adaptability. These strengths are important to have in leadership positions. Leaders should have a firm hold on their beliefs and morals in order to have a positive impact on people. Keeping my commitments is crucial to me, because I am a woman of my word. I think this is a good trait in leadership, because people need to be able to count on the person that they look up to. Optimism is also something I value. I belie...

Interpersonal communication can be used in our workplace, in our personal life and has even been found in the most recently developed type of communication through the internet. When dealing with careers it is very important, if the person is unable to communicate well with their coworkers and supervisors they will more likely not be able to succeed in their field as well as a person who has great interpersonal communication skills. Even though that person makes extraordinary presentations and is trying to convince their supervisors of their ideas, it may fail since they are not able to communicate effectively and convince their listeners that they have the confidence in their own ideas. Having the ability to effectively use interpersonal communication skills will be very helpful when trying to hold on to a job or trying to secure a job. Talent and skill are oftentimes mistaken and confused in perceptions and conversations. They both relate to the ability of a person to work and perform on a specific task, although the difference between the two is from where the ability originates. Many believe that people are born with a certain talent and that only these selected individuals will be successful. This, however, is not necessarily true, as the concept of talent should be open to different individuals' interpretations. No one is already born a scientist, a dancer or teacher, yet as individuals, we can develop certain skills to fit in different categories. While talent is an undoubted advantage for success in the people holding it, it is not fundamental to be considered flourishing in certain settings. Skills require determination and effort, and being at the disposal of all, can be the winning key to favorable outcomes in life.

I would say that my greatest talent or skill is the fact that I am bilingual, where I am fluent in both English and Spanish. The reason that I believe that being bilingual is my greatest skill is that it is important to be able to communicate my ideas and opinions to others.
The skill that I am the best at or at least would give myself the highest score in would be showing empathy. I am not sure why I am skilled in this it just seems to come naturally to me. I have always found myself to be a very empathetic person who is able to understand the thoughts, feelings, beliefs and, attitudes of others almost as well as my own. One way that I have shown empathy is by being open to learning about the experiences of others including other cultures, races and religions. Learning about struggles of others and the impact their struggles have on the world as a whole has increased my ability to show empathy. I think that my empathetic nature has both helped me and hurt me in my life. It has helped me as a counselor, as
