From the beginning of 2016, Canada received international students from all over the world to continue their education after graduating from the high schools supported by the Canada express study program. A lot of students came from southeast Asia, where it is unusual for them to have the four seasons, spring, summer, fall, and winter, which occur in Canada. Many students were surprised by the weather in the different seasons, which also affects the Canadian lifestyle. The obvious differences between winter and summer have a big impact on food, activities, fashion, and transportation. First of all, many Southeast Asian students were worried about the weather in Canada even when they had already known, so they need some information to prepare …show more content…
In fact, Southeast Asian students can enjoy summer in one of 58 free outdoor pools open in mid-June in Toronto; moreover, the students who want to communicate with local residents to be familiar with their culture could join some free outdoor activities including outdoor movie screenings, running events and food festivals around Toronto (Whatson, 2017). Also, Canadians usually visit their families and friends with whom they enjoy playing baseball at a park or volleyball on the beach while spending free time after hours at work without the difficulty of bad weather. However, after the wonderful weather, wintertime would be the cold season with snow. People favor to play outside, but with different kind of activities that are recommended for snow including skiing, snowboarding, also ice skating. In addition, if the students visit Niagara Fall, they can enjoy spectacular sightseeing of the light festivals, which is occurring in Winter every year, also there are fireworks and excitement in Canada day which is celebrated in July. (Niagara falls tourism, n.d.). Of course, in winter, making a snowman or experiencing snowball fight, which absolutely could not be forgotten. For instance, in the active season as summer, people prefer wearing energetic clothes, shirts with jeans, T-shirts with shorts, and maxi dresses with the accessories, sunglasses are their choices; besides, they decide to wear jean jackets or light cardigans for informal occasions. Unlike summer, cold weather is the special time for outerwear clothes. To prepare for the cold, sweaters and winter coats are common clothes for the students to keep their body warm who are not used to the cold of the wintertime; moreover, they would choose scarves and gloves for accessories; for example, one of the most popular and commendable brands for winter clothes made in Canada is Canadian Goose which never goes on sale, even during big shopping (Shea, 2017). Shoes are also contrasted in summer and winter, which are the waterproof boots and thick socks for wintertime comparable with high heels and running shoes for summer. Furthermore, there is a difference in the color provided for each season. In wintertime, darker and duller likely to be used; contrastingly, in the summer, it is
Hi, I am here to talk you about the pros and cons of driving in the summer and winter. The reason I say that is because I have been hearing different opinions about driving in the winter is better than driving in the summer, and of course, driving in the summer is better than driving in the winter. Although, it depends on what you are driving in and how you drive when driving. I say that because you could drive in the winter and still be cold because you did not turn on your heat. On the other hand, you could drive in the summer and still be hot if you do not let down any windows and or turn on the ac.
First we will discuss summer driving. Driving in the summer is really just driving, nothing more, and nothing less. Cars do really well in warm conditions, they start good and the roads are warm for great traction. Although there are a few setbacks such as, fluids run out quicker like coolant and oil, which are working double time to keep the engine running smoothly and the right temperature.
As the sun began to hide behind the clouds and began to rain, Margot felt the rain to drip down her face. As she stood in the rain, her classmates then came to give her the flowers that they had got for them.
I have noticed that the clothing worn in Canada during the winter and summer season is similar to the apparel worn in China. Canadians wear down coats, insulated boots, gloves, mitts, scarves, and toques throughout the winter season. I know for a fact Canada has very cold winters which is why people wear many layers and down jackets. China also wears similar clothing in order to keep themselves warm, although it is common to see padded jackets instead of down coats. Summer clothing of both cultures are alike because they both wear clothing that
The story of Summer, by David Updike, is set during that idyllic time in life when responsibility is the last word on anyone's mind. And yet, as with all human affairs, responsibility is an ever-present and ever-necessary aspect to life. What happens when the protagonist, Homer, loses his awareness of a certain personal responsibility to maintain self-control? Homer's actions increasingly make him act foolishly, internally and externally. Also, how does Homer return to a sense of sanity and responsibility? To a degree, I would say that he does.
We’ll Always Have Summer written by Jenny Han is the third book in the summer trilogy, the first being The Summer I Turned Pretty and the second It’s Not Summer Without You. As many would have guessed after reading the book titles, it’s a story about summer love, which eventually turns into a life-long love. It’s a story about a girl named Isabella Conklin, or “Belly” for short, who is caught in a very tough situation. She’s in love with two different boys, who just happen to be brothers. We’ll Always Have Summer takes place during the character’s college years and Belly is now attending the same college as one of the brothers named Jeremiah Fisher, who she has now been dating for two years now, but when she finds out he had cheated on her during one of their small breakup periods she begins to question everything. Jeremiah then asks eighteen year old Isabella to marry him and surprisingly she accepts. But as the couple struggle to get support and continue on planning the wedding, the first brother, Conrad Fisher confesses that he’s still in love with her and wants her to marry him instead. The whole book is just a huge whirlwind of emotions. In the end, the book boils down to Belly finally making her choice – will it be Jeremiah or will it be Conrad?
Most kids are influenced by what their parents do and how they treat them. In “The Veldt” by Ray Bradbury, the kids’ parents want them to be safe and have a good childhood. In “All Summer In a Day” by Ray Bradbury, the kids want to see the sun very desperately and they would do anything to see it because they have been waiting for a very long time. In both books they use dialogue to show and how the characters acted because they wanted something very badly. It also shows that desperately wanting something can change your life and other people’s lives for the worse or the better.
I have been to a place that has lots of interesting snow and others. It is Lake Tahoe. It is a place that I will never get bored of that it has a lot of snow! Mostly you could do anything with snow. But most of all, beating your older brother up in a snowball fight. I really loved when each time I went down the big mountain. It was really amazing. I was also really happy of building snowmen and building snow forts that I never even knew I can build. It was amazing for all of what could be crafted with snow. The fantastic trip has come to the start!
“All summer in a day” by Ray Bradbury, is a story about jealousy, this is shown through this quote: “When people hate on you, it's because you’ve got something they want.” All Summer in a day is set sometime in the future, maybe soon or maybe far, and the earth is overpopulated. Margot was sent from Earth to Venus at the age of four. Margot remembers the sun, and for that she is constantly bullied and harassed, since the other school children don’t remember the sun like she does, because they were just two years old. “All Summer in a Day” has some very good themes, like jealousy, regret, and bullying. Jealousy can cause people to do things to the victim who has, or is something the bully desires. William was jealous of Margot for seeing the sun, so he locks her in a closet where she will miss out on one of the most
In Kelly Link 's short story, The Summer People, the overall theme is that of debt, relationships and wealth. The story is about Fran, a teenage girl who lives in rural North Carolina. Her father, who comes in and out of her life, has gone away to Florida to find God. The mother abandoned them and left Fran in charge of the summer people. The short story starts out with Fran having the flu and now is taking care of herself. She decides to go to school, but later realizes that she can’t do it. She convinces an old friend, Ophelia to drive her home. Fran sends Ophelia to the summer people to get her medicine. Fran convinces Ophelia to sleep in the room. Fran finally feels free because she decides to make her escape. In her short story, The Summer People, Kelly Link helps Fran escape the Summer People House, just like her mother, via her renewed friendship with Ophelia.
There are four different types of seasons. They are Summer, Spring, Fall, and Winter. They each hold its own period in which they occur. Some days are long and some days are short depending on the season. Different weather, daylight hours, holidays, and different events are all events in which occur throughout the season. The events that can occur also depends on what’s the season. In each season, there are different activities that can be accomplished. For example, some seasons contain certain holidays that occur in them like Christmas, which only happens in the winter. There are a numerous amount of great activities to do during each season, but one specific season tops all of them. Out of all of the seasons, winter is the best season.

In the following section, I will apply C. Wright Mills framework to my own career aspiration to become a dermatologist and pleasure in running. In Freedom Summer, the author compared the volunteers in the freedom summer project between those who simply filled out applications and the results of the summer experience using those who did not go as a control. Although I have no “control” for my own experiences growing up, I believe with certain aspects such as schools and extracurricular activities, my older brothers can serve as an example of another path I could have taken and the possible results of the path. I chose my desired career and favorite leisure activity because I feel as though they have informed how I spend a majority of my time
The biggest difference between summer and winter is the climate. One of the main attractions of summer is the warm weather. I like being outside on a bright sunny day, and letting the sun warm my body. I also like that we get an occasional thunder storm. The excitement fills the air when I see the thunder clouds rolling in. The sound of thunder, and the lighting shows that come from the storms are fascinating. On the other hand winter i...
Currently, I feel that I lack in certain aspects of what it means to be a great leader. I can be pessimistic, and lack trust in the system. This can have a negative effects on subordinates, peers, and supervisors in different ways. However, I think that if I can apply some of the concepts outlined in Course 15, I can improve not only myself but also how I am perceived by my coworkers.
