In the common school system it is required that students attend school on a regular basis. If students attend an inadequate amount of school days they are often reprimanded in some way, often resulting in them missing more school, and missing more content then they have already. Though students are given days off, those days are chosen by the school and are not within the students jurisdiction. This makes students feel as though they have no choice in their attendance and they lose the sense that they, as an individual, have an effect of the world. Therefore schools should offer students more of a selection in which days they attend school so as to give them more choice in their education, and positively encourage their sense of individuality. …show more content…

Though this schedule helps keep students organized and easy to find, it ruins any sense of freedom in their education. They got to choose all of their classes, but then are forced into this near non-negotiable schedule that they get punished if they step out of. Forcing students to conform with the schedule makes them feel like less of an individual, and more like their just another gear in the school system. If students were given more freedom with their schedule, instead of the mandatory schedule, then they would grow more as individuals that feel as though they can affect the world around them. Schools wouldn’t have to go out of their way to put these changes in place and begin remediation. Simply allowance students more options for their bell schedule. Referring back to the aforementioned source B students are on listed as having specific classes at times with only four minutes between classes. Perhaps giving classes at different times with attendance being available for each time, as well as giving students more time between periods for socialization and activities. The extent the schools push this doesn;t have to be drastic, little changes, like to students schedules, help
