This tale shows one never to give up and persevere and no matter the odds. Many time the youngest son was doubted, though he continues forward to succeed in his quest. Even the king, his own father was suspect of his son’s chances saying , “ Your older brothers perished on this quest, and you who are still a tender youth will perish even sooner than they” (Afanas’ev 315). Likewise it teaches one to be wary of others no matter if you know them as they may be looking to take advantage of you. The maiden Dunia takes advantage of the eldest brothers tricking them into slavery just by asking them , “lie closer to her, so that they would be warmer” which cause they to fall through a trapdoor into the cellar ( Afanas’ev 314). The story Golden Goblet is written by Eloise Jarvis McGraw, and the novel took place in ancient Egypt. The story is based upon a boy named Ranofer who is an orphan whose parents have died and lives with his evil half brother Gebu. Ranofer wants to be a goldsmith just like his father, but Gebu wants Ranofer to work for him instead. First of all, The most important event occured when Ranofer finds the goblet in Gebu’s room because, he can tell the queen about the goblet and can catch Gebu, and Ranofer will be thanked and rewarded for turning Gebu in, Ranofer can spy on Gebu and make a plan to catch Gebu and get him in trouble, since Ranofer has found the goblet he can tell the queen and she will believe him, she will reward him and he can get what he wants because he can work with Zau and become a master goldsmith just like his father and get a donkey just like he had always wanted and also live a life without Gebu bossing him around since he will be in the dungeon locked up.
In the text a background story regarding the “SLEER” was taking place. When Bod stumbles upon the lair of the SLEER, he discovers himself talking to a undefined figure. The SLEER begins to speak to him about their master. In the text it states, “ The SLEER guards the treasures. The brooch, the goblet, the knife.
In the book The Golden Goblet, the most important event is when he tells the queen that Gebu is stealing from the tomb because, Ranofer tries really hard to tell her, Gebu will finally leave him alone and also because he will be able to work as a goldsmith.
The Golden Goblet by Eloise Jarvis McGraw was about an Egyptian boy named Ranofer who had to live with his evil step brother Gebu. When Ranofer breaks into his room he finds a golden goblet which changes the story. And here are some reasons why I think Ranofer finding the goblet is important to the story. One reason is Gebu is hiding something. The reader knows that Gebu is hiding something because he hid the goblet in his bed room which Ranofer found in his clothing chest.
This event is the most meaningful part to the story because if Ranofer never found the goblet he would have never known that Gebu had been robbing pharaohs tombs. This is critical information because if Ranofer did not outsmart Gebu, Ranofer would had never of told his friend Haqet, Haqet has an idea to tell the master goldsmith(Zau). When Heqet and Ranofer get a chance to meet Zau they tell him about the robberies and since Heqet started working for Zau they agreed to meeting in the thicket after Ranofer was done at the stone cutting shop (midday) and they would exchange food and water while spying on Gebu and Wenomon (Gebu’s “partner in crime”) to “see what they’re up to”. The text explicitly states “I will keep my ears open. I will grow ears like that donkey yonder.
Attacus Greeb was a man that lived in a old pigsty and had a farm. He was very poor. One day he got a goose, but it was no ordinary goose it was one that laid golden eggs. One reason is because it says “Oh how I wish had money to buy a horse-drawn carriage.” This shows that he didn’t want to buy back his farm that his father gave him.
The first character to be introduced is the old man. Just like every other character, the old man does not receive a name. He has a blue eye that appears to have a film over it. According to the story he has quite a bit of gold in his house. The old man was also nice to the narrator, as he has never done anything to him that would provoke the murder:
