A girl from Sarajevo Bosnia settled in Florida along with her family after escaping Bosnia as war refugees. Since her aunt lived in Florida, she helped facilitate the proper paper work for acceptance into America. In the interview we discussed, gender roles, spiritual beliefs, food, in addition to the benefits and disadvantages of being part of this cultural group. It was a fascinating experience to learn about her family, history and culture.
The first alternative of keeping the plants in the US would mean that Eletrocorp obeys the strict environmental and safety regulations, pays its workers $15/ hour, but avoids the loss of jobs in the US. The company would incur high production costs. The second alternative of relocating plants to South Africa would create a job loss in the US. The company would save costs by hiring workers for $10/ day and obeying less strict safety and environmental standards. The strong labor union could cause problems in the future. The third alternative of relocating to Mexico would have the same effects as relocating to South Africa, except that the wages for workers are $3/ day. A larger amount of costs could be saved, although Electrocorp would have to pay attention to citizen health groups which could cause bad publicity. The last alternative of relocating to the Philippines offers the highest cost savings due to the least strict safety and environmental regulations, no activist groups and the market pay rate of $1/ day.

Through a series of interviews he conducted with Presidents Hugo Chávez of Venezuela, Cristina Kirchner and former president Nėstor Kirchner of Argentina, Evo Morales of Bolivia, Fernando Lugo of Paraguay, Lula da Silva of Brazil, Rafael Correa of Ecuador and Raúl Castro of Cuba, Stone was able to compare firsthand information from the leaders themselves with that reported and published by the media (“Synopsis,” n.d.). It gives light to the measures these leaders had to take in order to initiate change in their respective countries, even if their public identities were at stake. Several instances in the film showed the mismatch between these two sources, pointing at the US government’s interests for greatly influencing the media for presenting biased, groundless views.

He uses all three appeals: pathos, ethos, and logic in his writing, in specific, he mostly uses pathos throughout of his entire article with a purpose for the reader to sympathize and to feel compassion for him. The use of these appeals attract many readers, they can feel and understand his purpose is to ask for others to join and support other people who undocumented immigrant like himself. We don’t realize how hard it is for immigrant parents to get their children education, and we judge and hate on something we have never been through. I guess it’s true you never know someone’s pain unless you go through it. Not everyone has the same privileges as others, some have to work twice as hard to try to give their children an opportunity towards an education on the contrary some American families have it simpler. I not blaming people who have families who were born here or say it’s wrong, but many people tend to affront children of immigrant parents and feel like they have the equitableness to say they aren’t suitable to receive public education.
At a young age, my teachers and parents taught me to believe that I could do and accomplish anything that I set my mind to. I grew up thinking that I was unstoppable and that the only limit to my achievements was the sky. However, during my second year in high school, I began to realize that I was not as unstoppable as I had thought. I began to experience the consequences of my parent’s decision of bringing me to the United States illegally. United States usually known as the “melting pot” and it is a typical immigrant country. In the past 400 years, United States has become a mixture of more than 100 ethnic groups. Immigrants bring they own dream and come to this land, some of them looking for better life for themselves and some want to make some money to send back home or they want their children to grow up in better condition. Throughout the history there’s few times of large wave of immigration and it is no exaggeration to say that immigrants created United States. For this paper I interview my neighbor and his immigration story is pretty interesting.

Also how everyone a long time ago only wanted to be with people like them. That it was very taboo to be with someone from a different country who was different from you. The story The Immigrant Contribution was about how immigrants were a big contribution to America, and all Americans have been immigrants or descendants of immigrants. Also, that the American economy has benefited from the immigrants who came here and contributed to our country like in the steel industry, the meat packing industry and electricity. Overall immigrants make up America and if everyone was the same, America wouldn’t be the great country that it is today.
