INTRODUCTION This topic came in my head during a lecture in History Class. The term “Guerrilla Warfare” was already interesting to me. It was discussed for a little, but it didn’t satisfy my curiosity. I never thought of it as a term paper topic, but something to search about until the opportunity to read a lot about it came. It was always on my mind and it caught my attention whenever I hear or see the term “Guerrilla Warfare.” It was hard for me to look for topics until I remembered it out of nowhere. I started making ideas for it. Without asking anyone whether I should or not, I just wrote ideas for what it should contain. I enjoyed making more ideas from it over again. Guerrilla warfare is a stealthy type of warfare that is quickly done and involves a lot of ambushing and hit-and-run attacks without the enemy being alert. It is usually used by groups or nations that are weaker than larger and stronger groups like the military or foreign colonizers. People who use guerrilla warfare or “guerrillas” also use it to steal supplies like food and weapons. Spying was also involved in guerrilla warfare find weak spots, gather information, or disrupting and sabotaging the opponent. The Americans thought the Philippines needed to be taught to stand on its own; otherwise another country could rule over and abuse the Filipinos. The Philippine-American war started on 1899 when an American soldier shot a Filipino soldier on a bridge in San Juan del Monte. The Philippines wanted independence instead of having to be ruled and abused by another country all over again, so Filipino nationalists fought with Emilio Aguinaldo as their leader. He was captured by the Americans on March 23, 1901 in Palanan, Isabela, but the war did not end until 1902 with the Americans winning the war.
