Suisun City, population 29,000, is a small town in Solano County, California. Solano County is one of the nine counties of the San Francisco Bay Area, home to more than 100 individual incorporated cities. The unusually high concentration of cities in this region combined with the generally Mediterranean climate gives this part of California a character more reminiscent of Europe in terms of urban amenities than can be found in most parts of the U.S.
One of the benefits of having so many people concentrated in one region is access to better public transit than can be found in most parts of the U.S. It simply requires a certain population density for public transit to work well and this region has the necessary population. Thus, the area can

The dramatically successful revitalization project plus the town's location in the San Francisco Bay Area -- and the existence of the Amtrak station right here in Suisun City -- makes this a surprisingly sophisticated, forward-looking place to live. It does not have the usual small town vibe. In Barbara Berlund’s Making San Francisco American: Cultural Frontiers in the Urban West, Berlund explains how San Francisco grew from a young settlement which grew rapidly thanks to in part of the California Gold Rush which took place in 1949. Of course with the growing of this small settlement came it’s conflicts and how it rised to where it stands present day. A primary factor which helped San Francisco flourish a ton was the influence from those who had power and chose what would happen throughout the city, for example the Big 4. Those who were wealthy did not make this city what it is today without the help of people who made up the middle class as well. Every establishment within this city set the social order as to how the inhabitants of San Francisco would go about their life in society.
...ally. It has brought positive impacts in the form of a renewed downtown area, a boost in the local economy, and help with major and minor natural disasters. Some negatives are losses in tax revenue and an increase in crime.

Chinese first established their community in Los Angeles at today's El Pueblo Historical Monument. About two hundred settled by the year 1870. This number gradually increased over the years when the Southern Pacific began to construct a railroad from San Francisco in the 1870s. They were farm laborers, servants, road builders and small shopkeepers. Even with heavy discrimination during this time, Chinese held a dominant economic position in the Los Angeles laundry and produce industries for several years. Due to this old Chinatown explained its' boundaries eastward from the Plaza across from Alameda Street and grew to a population of over three thousand.

Gentrification is a highly important topic that has not only been occurring all over the United States, but especially closer than we may have thought. San Francisco is home to hundreds of thousands of people who have been a part of how amazing this city has become. San Francisco is one of the most visited places in the world with many of its famous landmarks, endless opportunities not only for daytime fun but also has an amazing nightlife that people cannot get enough of. People come for a great time and could not be done without the help of the people who have grown up to experience and love this city for what it truly is. The cost of living in such an important city has definitely had its affect of lower income San Francisco residents. For decades we have seen changes occurring in parts of San Francisco where minorities live. We have seen this in Chinatown, SOMA, Fillmore district, and especially the Mission district.
I myself have always lived in the Bay Area until now, when I recently moved to Chico. Pleasanton, Ca is a suburb in the East Bay where I have lived the longest in the Bay Area. However I have also lived for other short periods of time in the cities San Jose, Union City, Fremont, and San Francisco. This is not the case with some of my other family members. My mother, and her side of the family, where born on the Island of Pico. Pico is located in the Azores, which is a chain of islands right off the coast of Portugal. My mother stated that, “She, my uncle, grandma, and grandpa decided to try to flea the Azores because of fear that my uncle would get drafted into Portugal’s war with Angola” (Orozco). When my mom was fifteen years old, her family migrated to Santa Maria, California. They settled in Santa Maria because of its large Portuguese community. Both of my grandparents worked hard labor jobs to try to support my mom, and uncle. My grandpa worked in construction, and my grandma worked in the fields harvesting crops. After five years of living in Santa Maria, my grandparents decided to move the family to San Jose, California because my grandpa had found a higher paying construction job. They permanently settled in San Jose, which is in the South Bay Area, and that is how my mom’s side of the family came to living in the Bay Area.
In 2012 the state rail authority decided to build the first operational segment of the $68 billion project from LA's Union Station into the Central Valley, ending well short of the final goal: a 2 hour, 40 minute trip from LA to the San Francisco Bay Area.
According to Tamura & National Library of Australia (2007), Kobe is situated in Osaka bay and is also a natural port whose use dates back to 1180 when it was used as a dispatch point for imperial embassies to China. The city of Kobe is long and narrow located between the coast of the north pacific in the Osaka bay and high mountains on the other side. This location however acts as a hindrance to the expansion of Kobe leading to the construction of two artificial islands namely, Port Island and Rokko Island (Dodd & Richmond 2001). The city is however prone to earthquakes of a relatively high intensity. An example is the Great Hanshin Earthquake in 1995 which led to massive loss of life and damages amounting to approximately 2.5% of Japan's GDP at the time.
Hong Kong is a major city, the Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China. It is located in eastern Asia, on the southeast coast of China. As a city it has no capital.
Everyone hates how the city is neither cold or warm, but everyone loves the opportunities that San Francisco has to offer. San Francisco is the home of technology, music and art, and there is a way in for anyone. Another great feature about the city is how open it is, too all the different cultures. My parents themselves would never go back to their homelands, because San Francisco is better than Belarus or Ukraine. People are free to think and act, and are not controlled by the government. As someone, who was born in the city, I am thankful for all the people not originally from our small city. I have the chance to meet people from all over the world, some from different countries, states, and even those just a few cities away. With San Francisco being the home of technology, music and art, it allows different genres of people to mingle. Katy was a director for Disney, Phillip had his own pool company, both my roommates are in tech, and my parents are in real estate. Everyday I am thankful for being born into such a beautiful
Transportation systems and the routes they use have greatly influenced both how and where people live. Reliable transportation allows a population to expand throughout a country's territory and to live comfortably in remote areas far from factories and farms. The growth and expansion of the United States were directly related to the means of transportation available at the time. The more compact cities of the U.S. eastern seaboard are the result of early human- and animal-based transportation systems that allowed only short trips. The more sprawling cities of the western United States are the result of an automobile-based transportation system that permits much longer travel distances.
