Now is that what we want in our schools, violence due to sugary drinks. Come on people open your eyes sugary drinks should be banned. Based on an interview I have conducted this individual says drinking sugary drinks leaves her dehydrated. Let’s remove all sugary drinks from the vending machines, and promote healthy living. According to an article on CNN a new study suggested drinking sugar-sweetened beverages, may make certain cells in the body age faster, as my grandma would say “you old before you young”. Who would want to look forty when they only 20. I strongly believe that if we remove sugary drinks from our daily routine the level of diabetic’s patients would decrease and also less obese individuals as well. The more sugary drinks you intake the more body fat you will gain and this is when it becomes a problem. Know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from god, you are not your own. You were brought at a price. Therefore honor god with your body. 1st Corinthians 6 verses

In the documentary “Fed Up,” sugar is responsible for Americas rising obesity rate, which is happening even with the great stress that is set on exercise and portion control for those who are overweight. Fed Up is a film directed by Stephanie Soechtig, with Executive Producers Katie Couric and Laurie David. The filmmaker’s intent is mainly to inform people of the dangers of too much sugar, but it also talks about the fat’s in our diets and the food corporation shadiness. The filmmaker wants to educate the country on the effects of a poor diet and to open eyes to the obesity catastrophe in the United States. The main debate used is that sugar is the direct matter of obesity. Overall, I don’t believe the filmmaker’s debate was successful.
Consuming sugar is not bad for your body if you know your limits and know when to start. Sugar should not be regulated because not everyone abuses it. Why would we regulated a substance that only affects the person consuming it. Unlike smoking where not only the person smoking is getting affected but also the people who are near him. Also alcohol can affect others because if a person is drunk and drives they are putting everyone's life at risk who is on the road with them.
According to the article, Too Much Can Make Us Sick (http://www.sugarscience.org/too-much-can-make-us-sick/), “Heart disease. Diabetes. These chronic conditions are among the leading causes of death worldwide. Increasingly, scientists are focusing on a common set of underlying metabolic issues that raise people's risk for chronic disease. It turns out that the long-term overconsumption of added sugars is linked to many of these dysfunctions.” This means that people living today, have a lot more trouble with diseases because of our unhealthy sugar intake compared to the
This finding can be linked to two discoveries from the interview including, he does not generally consume breakfast, and his sugar intake through the working day is high. It is scientifically proven that sugar gives an initial energy burst due to a rapid increase in blood sugar levels, however this is shortly followed by a rapid decline in blood sugar levels, resulting in the feeling of fatigue and exhaustion (Bouchez, 2005). As a result of feeling lethargic the subject admitted to consuming energy drinks for a “boost” in energy. However, in recent years consumption of energy drinks have been proven to have many associated health risks, highlighting on additional reason for the subject to change his behaviour. Abbott (2010, p. 245) states that, “recent studies have discovered significant intracellular dehydration, hypertension, fatigue, higher rates of illness and mental health disorders among workers who regularly consume energy drinks”. This information provides valid and alarming reasoning as to the potential health risks of the drinks the subject regularly consumes. These studies give valid reason why the subject should begin to at least move from stage 1 to stage 2 of the Transtheoretical model. It is evident that a diet rich in fruit and vegetables is necessary for the subject to significantly reduce the causes of chronic diseases, reduce weight and improve overall health and wellbeing. This statement is strongly supported by the development of The Australian Dietary guidelines, which were developed explicitly to “aid in the prevention and management of diet related diseases and promote health and wellbeing among Australians (National Health and Medical Research Council, 2013, p.1). A potential goal for the subject to work towards is broadening his knowledge on the subject of nutrition; he could then attempt applying it to his personal life in order to achieve the related health benefits
First I would talk about the relation between energy drinks and anxiety, second I will talk about how it takes your organs and lastly I would talk about how it affects your wallet.
For years doctors have been saying that refined sugars are empty calories and consist of absolutely no vitamins or minerals that people need to survive. Dentists warn that sugary foods encourage tooth decay. Many people avoid sweet food because it can lead to obesity, heart problems, diabetes and cancer. These negative responses by people’s bodies are actually warnings. Maybe people eat sugar for other reasons than the sweet taste. The human body's negative responses to sugar may be a similar purpose to the reason kids feel pain when they are playing too roughly. People’s consumption of sweet foods might also serve as a sign of defiance against their bodies’ health limitations. What many people do not realize is that their tasty treats can affect their mind and emotions.
We are all familiar with sugar. It is sweet, delicious, and addictive; yet only a few of us know that it is deadly. When it comes to sugar, it seems like most people are in the mind frame knowing that it could be bad for our health, but only a few are really taking the moderate amounts. In fact, as a whole population, each and everyone of us are still eating about 500 extra calories per day from sugar. Yes, that seems like an exaggerated number judging from the tiny sweet crystals we sprinkle on our coffee, but it is not. Sugar is not only present in the form of sweets and flavourings, it is hidden in all the processed foods we eat. We have heard about the dangers of eating too much fat or salt, but we know very little about the harmful effects of consuming too much sugar. There still isn’t any warnings about sugar on our food labels, nor has there been any broadcasts on the serious damages it could do to our health. It has come to my concern during my research that few
Would you drink something that is associated with health problems and even death? Well energy drinks are highly caffeinated beverages that many people have become depended on to get through certain things that need done. They are used to give individuals a quick energy boost to get things done. Today many people question how safe energy drinks really are for the quick energy they supply. In fact, a sixteen year old girl died of cardiac arrest just after ingesting an energy drink, while on vacation with friends. Almost everyone who enjoys drinking energy drinks, knows that high levels of caffeine are in these beverages, and they continue to drink the ignoring the risks. But some people are fine with the high levels of caffeine and just drink them because it makes them feel energized. They seem to accept the shocking circumstances because it helps them gets things done when they need the most energy. On the other hand, some people disagree and think that it is not only bad for individuals
After six months, daily consumption of sugary drinks increases fat deposits in the liver by 150 percent, leading directly to both type 2 diabetes and heart disease. Sugary drink consumption is especially high in undiagnosed diabetic populations. In 2003-2006, 45% of diabetic adults in the U.S. consumed a sugary drink on any given day. Undiagnosed diabetics consumed significantly more (60% versus 38% of people with diagnosed but uncontrolled diabetes) (Sugary Drinks and Obesity Facts Sheet) Rates of obesity, which is a major risk factor in diabetes, has more than doubled for adults, tripled for adolescents, and nearly quadrupled for 6-11 year-old
The massive appeal for artificial sugars and sweeteners in America started out in the 1970s and 1980s and has affected American eating habits ever since by its dominance as the most used form of sugar. (Frincu-Mallos). Parallel to its introduction to the food industry, American society at that time was struggling with an onslaught of health problems and diseases. Some have wondered if there is a relationship between the introduction of artificial sweeteners and the rise in American health problems. Stemming from this inquiry, research has been conducted, purposing to find relationship to artificial sweeteners and chronic diseases and illnesses. Some research has provided proof of artificial sweeteners negative effects on health living. Surprisingly, most consumers do not hear of it. American children are being fed these products and parents are unaware of the dangers presented by them. Artificial sweeteners pose a threat to American health. Health issues associated with the introduction of artificial sugars to the American food industry need to be thoroughly researched and publicly addressed.
While some experts will say that sugar is not a dangerous substance, but rather a “pathological obesity”, others will counter-argue to say that it is one of the most dangerous substances of this generation (Krans). Sugar can have an effect on a human, just like cocaine or heroin, which gives them the rush that they want and/or need to feel. Refined sugar can be up to eight times more addicting than cocaine (“Sweet Poison”). The happiness experienced from the consumption of sugar can drive someone to addiction, with the obsessive behavior and constant reaching for it. Just like any other addiction, sugar demands
One of the main health concerns associated with soft drink consumption is obesity, especially when discussing the health of developing adolescents. Many medical personnel agree that when people drink soda, they add extra calories into their diet, which is one of the main reasons weight gain occurs. Also, when sugar and calories are ingested through liquids, people tend to consume more, because liquid sugars do not take the place of calories in foods, but add to them (Murray). For example, theDietary Guidelines for Americans suggests that the amount of added sugars ingested per day should be limited to 12 teaspoons, but recent intakes of added sugars have been measured at 200 to 300 kcals over this suggested limit (White). However, although there is strong evidence that illustrates a correlation between consuming soft drinks and obesity, it cannot be said definitely that these two things are directly linked. Another negative effect of drinking soda is the decrease in the consumpt...
Sugar is a form of carbohydrate consumed by body that transform into glucose to provide energy in our diet. Sugar occurs naturally in every food that human consumes such as fruits and dairy products but in few cases sugar is added artificially to increase sweetness on food like cupcakes, biscuits, juices etc. Rather than providing sweetness, sugar is also essential to maintain boiling and freezing point of foods and add color and flavor to non – sweet foods (Sugar, n.d.). This paper will highlight on the argument whether the government should regulate sugar as like tobacco and alcohol or not. Different researches were carried out in order to visualize if the consumption of sugar lead to negative or positive impact on human health. Based on
Sugary drinks are a major cause of obesity. Most children and young adults are overweight or obese because they are consuming too much of a sugary drink. “2 out of 3 adults and 1 out of 3 children in the united states are overweight or obese.” Most of the time children and adults consume some type of sugary drink and then afterwards will not do any physical activity. Mainly sugary drinks like, soda and energy drinks is advertised to children between the ages of 2-17. Obesity is a big thing in the U.S. Many Americans will develop type 2 diabetes throughout their lifetime because they consumed too much of a sugary beverage. They consume but do not get any physical activity. In order for a person to be fit and healthy, they must get up you 30-60 minutes of physical a...
