A abundant amount of high school students in the world don’t completely remember what they’re taught or how it’s being taught to them before they leave for college or begin their career. One of the reasons why students don’t understand is because they think they’ll obtain humiliation for not being strong or as intelligent in that class. Multiple students misconstrue in school because of embarrassment. Another reason why students might not get the education they need is due to the families financial status in their country. Not all countries are as rich as the U.S., so it makes it not as affordable for them to even have one school. Students not getting an education can be caused by them misunderstanding what they’re being taught. The way that the teacher explains it might not be enough for the students to understand what they’re being taught.
The most laborious subjects are physics, chemistry, and algebra. They’ve become the most laborious since people are having a hard time figuring the subject out and there isn’t any other way to figure it out, therefore it becomes immensely difficult.
Chemistry is the hardest to translate for students due to how it is understand.

Students think it’s a waste of time to memorize data that they don’t use or to find formulas for an artifact. It’s important for students to understand the subject because, the jobs they want or have may involve the topic in some form or fashion. Physics and algebra are challenging for students because they take up a lot of time. Students try to find an easier way to get the subjects completed, but it doesn’t usually work. The only way to pass the class is by doing it the way teachers are explaining it to them. Although, the most strenuous subjects aren’t the most failed, the subjects have over 60% of the class failing. The subject that has the highest failing rate was in chemistry. Students think it’s unnecessary to memorize the periodic table. They doing think they are going to use it in their adult lives. Although, the students don’t see the results of these classes, they could inadvertently affect their lives in the future. We need to change the educational systems all over the world so that everyone can get an education and enjoy their lives in the future. The U.S. educational system in the past had been very simple. It’s like saying ‘if you’re poor, you can’t go to school’. Mainly the wealthy citizens here in America were able to go to school and receive a scholarship. Those less fortunates would either be homeschooled or they just wouldn’t be taught. Life was hard for the people who weren’t as wealthy because they weren’t as intelligent. In the US, we’ve accelerated so much from the past that we’re even using technology to help educate students. Most students in the U.S. go to school not based on their wealth, although they have to pay to get into school. As, we explore more about the world and how they educate students, we use the knowledge we have to upgrade our education system and that helps most students. Unfortunately, since not all countries are as rich as the U.S., not all kids in all countries get an education. Colombia is failing the most in their educational system, and America is finding the flaws the make it not as successful so they don’t make the same mistake.
Although, schools in all countries are decreasing improvement in all areas of the educational system. Although not all students are in school, they are all taught in their own way. In the past, people in Alaska were taught how to survive in the cold winter. But, as soon as Alaska became a state in the U.S., the government made all the children leave the state and go to school there. Then, when they were finished with school, they’d go back home and learn their house chores all over again. While the children were in school, they weren’t able to speak that language in class. If they did, they would face
consequences. American politicians have kept trying to find the answer to what holds the key to the future. Recently, they believe that education is the answer, however, they can’t guarantee their work since they’ve been so stressed out about the educational system. In 2001, the government established a law that every student must pass their testing with a proficient score or higher. Another reason why the system is failing is parents aren’t involved. Parents normally have not had input on what classes their children take or how long their classes are. The teachers are in total control of how the students spends their time and the order the students have their classes. Many parents think that they should be able to give their opinion on what their children attend and how long their children’s classes are because they know more about their children than the school does. Another reason why the system is failing is because we use technology. Although technology is excellent with organizing and maintaining the students’ information, if their computer or piece of technology gets disabled, all of their work and information gets messed up, then they won’t be prepared for school, which can cause problems if the teachers don’t have paper work. So we should use more paperwork so that way in case our technology is disabled, it won’t deflect on our education.
All of this leads to obsessing over disciplining and having high test scores to compete with other school around the area. In Finland, they have no standardized tests that students need to take. When people are in trouble in Finland, an approach is taken to help them and support them. This is different in America. This supports the example of Harold as none of the teachers at the school took the approach to help Harold or even to support him. Many accusations were said that Harold is the problem and not the teachers. However, as Rose took a stand for Harold and helped him as he started to give up. With the standardized testing, it puts students with similar scores in the same classes. From this, Millie was put in a remedial class which was stated as an average class. As the schools soon start to care about the results of the standardized tests, the school start to focus on math, science, and reading which leads kids to being the same. This makes school not fun and the students end up dreading on going to school. In Finland, not only do the school focus on math, science, and reading they also focus on other important studies such as the arts, humanity, and physical education. Focusing on it all gives the students the ability to become creative and be their own individual person. Ken Robinson also proves that giving students the individual attention that they need helps them thrive to meet the goals that they have in education. Ken Robinson claimed, “Education does not go on in the committee rooms of out Legislative Buildings, it happens in the classrooms and schools. And the people who do it are the teachers and the students. And if you remove that discretion it stops working” (TEDtalks 13:15). When a teacher teaches a student will learn. Taking the actions to actually
Labaree discusses how the United State’s education is in a school syndrome, as people in America want schools to teach society’s ideals as well as let people express their individuality. These two demands are polar opposites that cannot be achieved. As the focus goes towards balancing these in hopes of improving society as a whole, the bettering of actual student learning is put on pause. Labaree talks about the beginning of education reform, in the 19th century, being the most successful in developing society; however, as education reform continued throughout time, its effectiveness wore off. He then addresses how the desire for education reform is more about improving society than it is about learning. He finishes his argument by providing possible solutions to fixing this problem, but states that fixing this problem will never happen because no one is willing to give up both demands. Overall, Labaree goes in wonderful detail explaining the problems of education reform. What made me choose this article was that he addressed the desire that people have on school systems in promoting both society normality and individuality. This correlates well with my topic in whether public school systems promote conformist ideals or individuality.
... are losing the opportunity to acquire more knowledge from their teachers who are more educated than their parents.
Education has always been in existence in one form or another. As each child is born into this world regardless of who or where they are born, life lessons immediately begin. He/she will learn to crawl, walk, and talk by the example and encouragement of others. Although these lessons are basic in the beginning they evolve as the child grows. However, the core learning method of a child does not change. Learning from others, they will watch, listen, and then act for themselves. Thomas Jefferson believed that an education would lead men and women to the ability to be self-governed and become positive contributors to society (Mondale & Patton, 2001). Today, we can see how true this is by the examples of others. Those that are given the opportunity for education are more likely to find jobs and develop skills that not only improve a community, but influence the economic growth of their nation (Ravitch, Cortese, West, Carmichael, Andere, & Munson, 2009, p. 13). On the other hand, if an education is not provided to individuals, they can become a hindrance to that nation’s growth.
Schools, Teaching, and Learning; Not Good for Everyone Never let going to school and taking classes get in the way of learning. There is more than enough blame to go around regarding the education and preparation for the recent generations of students entering adulthood. Some people, like Michael Moore blame politics on the poor state of education, others like Davis Guggenheim, blame the powerful teachers union putting their own needs before the students. I place the blame squarely at the feet of the parents, students and over all society for the current state of education.
Education is one of the cornerstones and pillars to the establishment and preservation of democracy. In history, countless scores of philosophers and political thinkers believed that only an educated citizenry can take on the quintessential task of upholding democracy. Thomas Jefferson, the primary writer of the Declaration of Independence, stated that “an informed citizenry is the only true repository of the public will.” A renowned defender of public education, Jefferson proposed plans for an education system that included grammar schools in his presidency. As a result of these relentless policies for education, the United States expanded on the concept of public instruction through the establishment and upkeep of a practical education system. The United States continued this tradition and established a reputation as one of the best education in the world. Currently, this is no longer valid as other countries such as Finland, China, and South Korea are competing for the dominant position through rigorous reforms that aim to boost student performances (“Best Education”). Meanwhile, the American system is inefficient, inhibited by political obstacles and gridlock while Finland, the top ranked country in terms of schooling, is continuing to improve. According to the PISA (Program for International Student Assessment) examinations that tested pupils across a variety of subjects such as reading, mathematics, and science of 2009, Finland’s students were ranked among the top (“PISA 2009”). The American students were ranked below average for industrialized countries in the world, revealing the reality of the educational crisis in the country. Finland’s education system, compared to the Americans, offers major differences that greatly ...
Schooling has a lot of problems that need a lot of solutions. Many of these problems stem from the fact that the American school system is notorious for wasting the time of students and teachers. Students rarely get the chances to learn and experience topics that not only interest them but are also topics that have the potential for being important in their future careers. Time is also wasted during standardized tests that do not give American students an accurate representation of their intelligence compared to the intelligence of others worldwide.
...is model of teaching leaves out the students from poor economic and social disadvantages. Failing to take into account that even if they receive the same education as someone from a middle-class background; these students still have to go home and deal with unfortunate circumstances.
This misconception will act as a disservice to these students because they believe that they “do not [need to] improve their mastery of a subject.” And once he/she reaches a point where they have to make a decision in the career path that they have chosen which requires said mastery and skill, they will realize that they have been misconceived and that they are not the intellect that they once believed they were. In the end, grade inflation is.
Compulsory education laws define America’s adolescent people today. Without these laws many people wouldn’t get the education they need in life or for their future. Compulsory education helps people develop or expand many skills that they will need in life, such as social and thinking skills. By abolishing compulsory education laws in the United States people wouldn’t develop such skills or be prepared for life ahead of them. By removing this you would have a generation full of young people who wouldn’t know how to think.
Many people believe that “having an economy that places a greater value on skills and education is a good thing” and that is the thing that is needed to improve people’s lives and futures (Baicker, Lazear). If what our economy is trying to do a good thing they why are so many students still suffering? The main issues are the low-income education that many students have. Many schools are getting money from the government but that is not enough to pay for everything students need. Educational standards have continued to increase throughout the years but that does not help the students who are unable to pay for the better education. These students who cannot pay for the better education are stuck barely getting by with a low education. A low-education can affect many areas of regular schooling. The students who are at low-income schools do not know what type of disadvantage they have compared to other students across the country. These students believe that they are getting the best education, but there are many students who are getting a better education at a school that has the funds to pay for everything their students need. Low-income students are suffering due to the environment they are in at school and they continue to suffer throughout their life due to it. These students will continue to suffer unless something is done about the low-income schools and improve them for the future. Improvement has to come from all areas, not just one aspect of schooling but from all aspects. Although education has improved along with technology many low-income students still suffer from the vast inequalities. These inequalities will take many years to find a way to fix and even more years to actually fix, until this happens the students will...
This is due to public school systems continue to follow the same teaching patterns over the years without offering any new learning incentives for students growing minds. What is needed in the educational system is a way to motivate. Motivation lights a fire in a child brain-actively wants to accomplish something helps students better focus, understand, and process the information needed to accomplish their
“Since the last 100 years, it seems like the learning has changed the educational system. Within these changes our country has been changing the way they teach; students because they have ways many new methods to help increase the student’s education levels. More likely, the new education system works for students who are failing behind and for the students are struggling a little in their learning. Foremost, education has changed because every child receives the same education; and gets to be although in the same classroom. For instance, the special education gets a chance to learn the same as the regular students; but still get assistance in class. Furthermore, special education has changed over years because the
Learning occurs when each child is developmentally ready, and this happens at a different pace for each individual child. I experience this daily in my Kindergarten classroom. Although a lot has changed in education over the course of my career, I try to focus on the constant that each of my students can learn on any given day and that I must challenge all of my students to reach his or her potential. This is my school’s motto, and we recite it daily. Education has faced many challenges over the years with politics, the economy, students’ culture, and legal issues. Politics does play a crucial role in education. Different school systems and population areas receive more or less government funding. Educational dollars can play a key role in a school system receiving the latest technology, updated facilities, educational funds for teachers, and curriculum needs. I have been able to experience this for myself by transferring schools from the city to the county school district. The social aspect of learning affects children in different ways also. Different cultures of schools are negatively and positively affected as well. Having taught in an inner-city school for 9 years, I was able to witness firsthand the downfalls and negative effects that come into play for students who come
In 2009, teachers of a New Jersey school banned foreign languages and stated, “any language other than English will not be tolerated" (Debaron 1). This situation was soon no longer allowed. While over ten percent of the total adolescent education systems contain emergent bilinguals, a whopping sixty percent of those students are educated in only English (Bale). Maria Estela Brisk, a Boston College Education professor, believes, “schools has wasted much energy in the search for a "perfect" model and the best way to learn English” when they could just focus on proving “quality education” to every student in the system (1). Teacher’s main priority should consist of effectively teaching their students to prepare them for the future, but currently there are a lack of certified bilingual education teachers. When students are taught more in different ways, they can educationally benefit their cognitive abilities, involving the brain with “mathematics, problem solving, logic and memory”, can be improved to create an overall better student. Even by learning another language at a earlier age can contribute to __________. Learning another language will be
