In first grade, I got the student of the month award and that shaped who I am today. I remember coming back from physical education class and my teacher, Miss Rizzo, coming up to me and telling me that I have been chosen as the student of the month. She made me go to the front of the classroom after everyone came back and told the class that she had chosen me as this month’s student. I was never outgoing and did not know why she chose me. I forgot my teacher’s exact words, but she said something like thank you for being a nice student and for helping other students out with their classwork. She said that I have been an excellent student and achieved greatness in class and on the playground. Miss Rizzo then went on to thank me for always smiling and passing out the papers. My teacher considered me a leader for always being on time to school and never absent. My classmates were proud of me and some were jealous that they did not get the award. I was a shy girl, so I was not expecting this award. …show more content…
I ran up to her very happily and showed her my trophy that had to be given back next month. My mom was so proud of my hard work and dedication to learning. Miss Rizzo told my mom that I am a brilliant student and that she is lucky to have a daughter like me. My sister’s, Rachel and Ronalie, were in sixth and third grade at that time. I remember happy dancing in front of them, and putting the trophy close to their faces. My mom took us out for pizza and ice cream to celebrate my achievements. I went home, put the trophy on the kitchen table, and waited for my aunt and dad to come home. As soon as they got home, I screamed and ran straight too them. I told them about my award, and they were both so happy and excited for me. My dad said that I have a bright future ahead of me. My aunt was filled with joy that she let me buy the teddy bear that I wanted from the store. I was bragging and bragging about my award all
In the days leading up to her graduation, she was so excited about receiving her diploma for her academic accomplishments, even though she hasn’t accomplished a lot in life by experiencing a little bit of it. She felt like the birthday girl with her pretty dress, beautiful hair, and the presents she received from Uncle Willie and her mother. She felt like it w...
My middle school’s dean smiles while handing me my certificate. I gave her my best fake smile and stood in line with the rest of my classmates who made the honor roll. I put my medal around my neck, held my certificate in my left hand, and put my right arm behind my back. I can’t believe I left my jacket in my mom’s car.
Out of nowhere my name got called to claim the award of “Most improved student of Class of 2014”. I was so proud of myself, it felt so good to know that I achieved something that I really wanted. I knew I could do something if I put my mind to it, and I did and I was so proud of
It was a warm April day and all of the students were let out of school for the day. I went home to finish packing with the help of my parents making sure that I had everything and I wasn 't forgetting. I was excited for a week now to go on the trip to Washington D.C. with the whole 8th grade class for a week.
I woke up Tuesday morning excited for the day I was going to spend with my mom. I was sitting at the kitchen table drinking fresh coffee listening to my mom and aunt tease and joke around about how paranoid my mom was about doing well in her classes, my aunt was telling her that maybe now that I was there, she would relax a little bit and have some fun. Our plan was to go to one of mom's classes with her, and then on a tour of UNC and then we were going to go to dinner and a movie.
I called Momma Defreese and asked if she could give me a ride to the game. She said “yes”. I was home alone so I had to make sure that I was ready before she got to my house because my mom wasn’t home to tell me when to start getting read. I decided it was time to start getting ready and when it was time for here to come pick me I made sure all the lights in the house were off, the doors were locked and that the dogs had been taken care of. I waited by the door and the saw Momma Defreese pulling up in the driveway.
When I arrived the group had just started circle time. To encourage bringing homework to work on the children receive tickets, this ticket will go into a bucket and one ticket would be drawn for a prize. At this time the teacher gave a few children jobs that they could do to help. They next recognized two children who had birthdays on that day. Each of these students were also allowed to choose a prize from the prize box. During this time the children all sat quietly and paciently.
My student inspired me to be a better, stronger teacher, while I inspired him to be a more cooperative and productive student, with fewer outbursts. From that moment on, I had a new understanding of the quote “so often you find that the students you’re trying to inspire are the ones that end up inspiring you” (Junkins). I was able to break down the walls of the students and not only become an educator, but a confidant. He could tell me if he had any outbursts that day and why or what he wanted to do after school or in the future for that matter. He started the class not speaking a word to me and by the time my field experience was completed, the student was holding conversations with not only the other undergraduate students, and his classmates, but also myself. He had made a complete turn around. This still brings a smile to my face and tears to my eyes, because at that very moment in time, during my last day with my student I realized how much I wanted to become a school counselor so that I could help thousands of other students just like
I am very blessed to be able to attend Oakleaf High School, it is a modern and technologically advanced high school and any outsider who walks in can immediately tell that the teachers really do strive to see us students succeed. In my junior year, a fellow student came into the classroom and handed a few students a rolled up piece of paper that resembled a scroll. It piqued my interest because something like this never happens. She placed the last scroll in her hand on my desk and quickly spoke up, "This one is for you," I opened and read it immediately, it was an invitation to join the National Science Honor Society. I was elated at the chance to join something that meant a lot to me.
It took a very large weight off of my shoulders. Many days after graduation I was feeling upset and troubled about not receiving the award. Not just any award but the award that was dedicated to my hometown hero. I had fallen into a rut and did not know what to do to convince myself that this was not the end of the world. My mother told me that it was only a silly plaque that I would have forgotten about once I started high school anyway, but that did not seem to help me.
It all started when today, was the day I would be the student of the month. I was so happy that I was finally my turn to be student of the month. I went to school and I got to wear the class crown. The class crown is a crown that the student of the month wears on the first on the first day. The student of the month get to choose what fun activities we get to do for the entire month after we finish our assignments. It was an honor for me to wear the class crown.
As always, my teachers and coaches loved me, and my parents supported me. I loved being the child everyone talked about. I loved to succeed and I loved to make people proud.
I spent most of my time in a first grade classroom. In this classroom I observed the children as well as the teacher and paraprofessional. This classroom had children with special needs and that is why there was a paraprofessional in the classroom for half the day. What I observed in this classroom was how children with special need should be handle and taught. The teachers in this room loves her job and each student in her class. While in the classroom the teacher allowed me to help with children with their work, read to them and help them with anything else that they needed. During this field experience I got to give back to not only a school, but to a community that is very near and dear to my heart. I hope that I touched each student in a special way, because the students that I got the opportunity to help learn touched my
Then, I heard everyone scream “Surprise!” I could not believe my eyes. There was decoration all over the living room, a cake on the table, music and a big bouquet of pink flowers. My eyes start tearing. I was delighted and humbled by how lucky I was to have such an amazing family. I ran up to my parents, my three brothers, and sisters in law and hugged all of them. We started singing and dancing I cannot forget those moments of my life. Then I realized time was running and that I still had to go to my cousin’s house to do my makeup. I rushed to her house leaving my family at home, so they could get ready, and we could later celebrate after the graduation. As, Sandra was putting on my makeup; I was thinking of how I was going to react when they called my name on the stage. I was smiling as I was thinking of the moment of my
I didn’t show up at the Miss Lanier pageant expecting to win. There were at least 15 other girls competing against me. I just wanted to have fun that day. I was nine years old at the time. I wasn’t nervous at all, not about the 15 girls competing against me, not nervous about the three judges at the front of the stage, not nervous at all. Now that I look back on that day, I realize that I should’ve been nervous; my hands should’ve been shaking, my stomach turning, and my brain in turmoil while waiting to step on stage. But I wasn’t. All I wanted to do that day was have fun and maybe make a friend or two. My mom and I stood behind the stage, waiting, just waiting. At one point the pageant director came to make sure nothing was wrong. Some of the girls next to me were acting like it was Miss Universe, but I was just treating it like a dressed up walk on a stage. Once she left we stood in a line at the back entrance to the
