Introduction
Person centred care is important as it ensures that the patient is involved in their care and is treated holistically, with respect, is empowered and given realistic choices about their treatment and care. (Royal college of nursing, 2015). I will be developing a personal development plan to reflect on my strengths, weaknesses, concerns and expectations in relation to my personal and professional development as a Student Nurse relating this to the professional values of nursing. I will be performing a literature review of texts relating to points raised in my SWEC analysis.
Using a SWEC analysis I will pick 3 points for each area and then discuss 3 of these points in more detail. See appendix 1 for full SWEC analysis. The 3 points I have chosen to look at are; my strength, clinical experience, my concern, transition from health care assistant to student nurse, and my weakness, dyslexia.

This means that the student risks being treated as a knowledgeable Health care assistant instead of a student (Hasson, Mckenna and Keeney, 2013). This is my main concern about transitioning from health care assistant to student nurse. Having spent many years working at my local acute hospital I have a good working relationship with many of the staff there, I worry that if I have a placement in this hospital that I will still be treated as I healthcare assistant and not a student nurse and that I may upset the staff if I try to pull away from the health care assistant
