It is crucial to recognize how important it is for a social worker to apply the proper engagement strategy. Every person is different, so not every engagement strategy works for everyone. In order to engage effectively, a social worker would have to consider the client’s strengths, challenges, and countertransference from the social worker toward the client. The case that will be examined is an 87-year-old Iranian Muslim male who is being treated for end -stage liver cancer and does not speak English. It would be important to engage with the client and his family in a compassionate and effective manner as well as with the respect for their culture, religion, and spiritual beliefs.
students do not learn the same way as their peers. We have to modify and try to explain things to
...on my students work so that they know how they are progressing. I will always be sure to hit my instructional focus on the children?s strengths before working on an area of development with the children.
I listen to my students. I allow time for their individual impute in what they are learning, and adjust accordingly. I really believe that is why students can be so into the idea of being taught, because they are all encouraged to lead the discussion and projects before them as it relates to the curriculum. I try to learn from my students by listening to their interpretation. I am learning what interest them, and feed off of it in the work that needs to be performed. Work towards a positive social society, with this education does takes place for our students, teachers, and community, all for a better future, one that is full of knowledge and acceptance. What could be any
Instead of teaching us how to do projects and essays, how to use the quadratic formula, how to understand the concept of war, teach us instead the art of persuasion. Teach us the ways of entertaining an audience, the dilemmas that the world faces. Teach us that there are an enormous amount of issues in the world and they come with an abundant amount of solutions. To learn how to engage an audience is to learn how to teach one.
In my twelve years of teaching experience, one thing that most of my colleagues have struggled with at some point in their career has been classroom management. Classroom management is one many keys to instructional success. Unfortunately, many have left the teaching field due to lack of knowledge of classroom management best practices.
In Damien Chazelle’s 2014 musical drama Whiplash, the titular hero, Andrew Neiman, is a protagonist who is willing to risk it all to achieve greatness. Andrew’s blood, sweat, and tears are sacrificed in his pursuit of becoming a highly esteemed drummer while believing that any and all company he keeps will only set him back, whether it be his friends or his girlfriend. Curiously enough, the only person he does allow in his head is his teacher Terence Fletcher, an elite professor known for his harsh style that has supposedly driven some to insanity and even suicide. As the movie progresses, the audience can only witness Andrew’s mental state crumble and deteriorate under Fletcher’s constant litany of humiliation, leading us to question why Andrew puts up with Fletcher’s barrage of not only physical, but mental abuse. In Whiplash, Andrew’s quest to become one of the greats by means of immense suffering is a type of self-justification in which his miseries are rationalized and pushed aside.

Through organization students feel the teacher is more prepared and has a good clear idea about what the children are to learn. Activities for teachers to implicate in the classroom so students are aware of the organizational clarity is through beginning the lesson with clear outcome goals, this will guide students throughout the day to keep them and teachers on track of what is to be taught. Creating study guides and content enhancement routines are just some examples of strategies teachers can use in the classroom to show organizational clarity. Being an organized teacher is just one of the many good attributes teachers can bring to the classroom to improve student memory as is creating strategies for students to implicate in order to help them recall information
One thing I know I struggle with is checking for understanding. My students in this case, were older than the ones I am using for my SCE. So checking for understanding was not as difficult for me as I thought it was going to be. I decided to place them in game like situations and see who has been paying attention and from what I noticed, most of the students were not paying attention when I was teaching. With the help of Mr. Brown and Ms. Jones, we were able to see where the lines got blurred.
Classroom management is a key element to establish a successful learning environment in any classroom. An effective classroom management plan creates a positive learning environment. Classroom management is affected by the characteristics of the students and their behavior. Students’ behavior is influenced by their age, academic abilities, goals, interests, and home backgrounds (Evertson, Emmer, and Worsham, 2006). Teachers need a diverse array of classroom management skills to facilitate learning. A classroom with a proper management plan will spend less time in disciplining and more time in learning. Students in effectively managed classrooms know and follow clearly defined rules and routines. A classroom management plan should provide for several important factors that influence proper discipline in the classroom (Edwards, 2004).
First, understanding that children may have a preferred learning style, she incorporates into her lesson plans the strategies which address visual learners, kinesthetic learners, and audio learners. Most children do not have just one learning style, therefore, they benefit through different learning centers. Learning centers include the science center, the math center, the art center, the library, the writing center, and the dramatic play center. Next, she uses teacher centered strategies to lead many of her lesson plans so that she can guide and coach the children through the activities. Since the children are very young, she feels modeling and coaching the children are the most productive techniques. She does try to create lesson plans that vary in complexity and challenge the children based on their own ability
She has quite the task ahead of her because many of her students do not understand what she is saying, and that makes it hard to keep them focused. One way that my students are productively engaged when we were teaching is that we asked them questions a lot during each activity. We made sure that the students did not have to sit too long and hear us talk and that they were allowed to be involved in their learning. My cooperating teacher does a good job of keeping the students productively engaged as well. When my teacher instructs her students, she makes sure to not keep them sitting for too long. My teacher will give the students the information or tell them the instructions and then she will directly get them involved in their project, or their task for the day. My students have also been productively engaged in the learning process because whenever we teach a lesson, or when my teacher teaches a lesson about a new topic, we will ask the students to provide us with their background knowledge. When a student provides their background knowledge, you can see what the students are interested in, and what they know and then you can gear your lessons toward information that they do not know, which will help them to be more deeply engaged in their learning. One piece of evidence that I can provide to show this engagement was when we taught our lesson about what flowers need to grow. When we started the lesson, we asked the kids what flowers needed to grow and then we wrote it on the board. Then later in the lesson, we went over what the students had said, and we crossed out the answers that they realized no longer are an answer to the question. The students were extremely engaged with their learning during this part of the lesson, they found out misconceptions, and they became excited when their answers were right. However, they also learned from their incorrect answers and
Of course, classroom management also includes discipline and corrective methods. In my situation, I feel that giving students behavioral boundaries and setting high behavioral
