In today's fast paced world often times we don’t realize how we go through life at full speed never slowing down to just stop and take a breath. Always trying to get to the next appointment, teachers meeting, and get togethers with friends and family; time is fleeting. For the people out there that have no problem with organizing their life I applaud you. Being able to manage everything without missing a beat is something I wish I was accomplished at. But my outside obligations to work, and family are constantly getting in the way of my schooling. Life has me spinning so fast, that hardly know where I am, when I am there. I didn't think that trying to juggle school, work and life was going to be so hard for me. On tuesdays, I have school in the morning from 9:15am to 12:45pm. I am supposed to have all my work done and ready for presentation as soon as I walk into the class. Then after class I have to go and pick up my daughter from school bring her home and make lunch for us. In addition to all that I also have to go to work from 1:00pm to 10:00pm at night. My day is completely jam ...
Just as they are standing face-to-face with each other, I am standing face-to-face with procrastination. I encounter difficulty managing my time with just about everything I do; I always wait too long. Throughout high school I was never in a hurry to get any of my work done. The work was easy to me, so if I waited until the last minute to do anything, it wasn’t hard for me to finish. I could always take my time to get everything done and still get a good grade in high school. Even if the work was harder and took me a little extra time, my teachers were all very lenient and accepted late work. My high school was very easy and allowed me to get into the bad habit of procrastinating.
...the work, personal, and social life context, can promote or impede their learning” (247). This statement is true because if these activities continue to impede the learning of a student then he or she will get stressed out, which could result in the student dropping all his or her college classes. If the student could just sit back and analyze the situation, life would be easier. For example, the student could reduce the number of classes he or she takes every semester. Reducing the amount of classes could result in more time spending with family rather than doing homework. When thinking of a person whose life is filled with frustrating duties and activities remember a nontraditional college students’ schedule of completing activities of school, working long hours, completing personal activities, and trying to spend free time with family and friends all in one day.
Your schedule will be as open as a barren desert. You will relieve all your stress by procrastinating. You don’t have to worry about the assignment until the day l before it is due, and this is a good thing. as you can zone out and focus on the activity at hand whether that’s browsing online, watching a movie, or hanging out with friends. The assignments will begin to haunt you at first; this will be a challenge that everyone faces, yet you need to realize that paper isn’t going to write itself, and neither are you; at least, not yet. That paper has a long life ahead of it before it needs to get turned in, why make it suffer? Speedily add to it the day before to ensure that no pain goes to the paper. In class, you don’t have to listen, but rather just act like you doing work. You can just look at the notes, that the teacher wrote when you get home. If you forget, it isn’t the end of the world you still have a day to study; the test is tomorrow. Procrastination is the gift that keeps giving. The more you procrastinate, the easier it will get, the more your grades will increase, and the more you’ll have fun. Yet, don’t get too carried away. You must procrastinate but still must complete your assignments. School is important, yet your activities outweigh the need for completion of assignments, so they can wait. What you need and want should come
As I’m sitting at home on my bed trying to get all of my school work done on time for classes, I think of all the other things I could be doing or if I should even do it at all. I always end up playing with my puppy, searching the tv for something to watch, or go on social networks and put my homework aside to do later so I can think of ideas. Deciding on whether to even do it or not ends up with me wondering what would I do without a college education and how I need one to be able to pursue the career I want. I'm usually rushing right before classes to finish the assignments with the ideas I've gathered by then.
If you’re going to choose to stay in school, you might want to keep track of all your papers while you’re at it. If you don’t stay organized, you’ll lose your paper and get an F. When you get an F, you give up and drop out of school. When you drop out of school you get into drugs. When you get into drugs, you overdose and die. Don’t overdose and die, stay
On any given day, my time regardless of how planned it is by making lists can be thrown off track due to usually a sick child/pet. No matter how hard I try, I know my kids will get sick and they will expect me to take care of. Since I cannot usually control when that will happen, it’s important that I take advantage of what I can control, such looking ahead at assignments that will need my attention to plan adequate time to complete assignments a head of time, instead of waiting till the last minute. When I know what to expect I can make plans. Another
Life in the 21st century seems more complex than ever, as adults cope with the demands of multiple roles, the stresses of a fluid workplace, and the pressures of child and elder care. Individuals feel compelled to update their work-related knowledge and skills and to keep up with the proliferation of information. Family resource management is increasingly complex, with expanded choices and decisions that must be made about utilities, banking, investments, retirement planning, etc. The Internet has simultaneously made it easier to access information, yet more complicated to apply critical judgment to what one finds. Many of us feel, as Kegan (1994) put it, “in over our heads” as we strive to “balance” our life domains.
It can be extremely difficult to make time for everything you want or need to do. I think Bill Waterson, the creator of "Calvin and Hobbes," said it best: "There's never enough time to do all the nothing we want." He must have been very familiar with teenagers, and it's true; we need to be organized, we need to set priorities and goals. Now for those of you who have done that and know exactly what you want to do with your life, that's awesome but that doesn't mean that you can stop setting goals to be a better person. Because, as we all know, we must be life-long learners and must continue to set goals, and when we achieve them we must evaluate them and then set new goals. You won't be able to do everything you'll want to do so, don't waste any time doing nothing.
Since this is my first DBA class taken at Columbia Southern University (CSU), I wanted to make sure that I schedule enough time so that I could devote my energies towards accomplishing the goal of acing this course. As with most students at CSU, I have to balance my time between work, my family and the DBA Course. Levin (2007) proposes that “Time Management” is a misnomer, because a person cannot “Manage Time”; time is fluid and inherently cannot be managed. Levin (2007) then goes on to bring up the idea of not managing time, but rather come up with a plan and make sure that you plan ahead so that you may obtain your desired goals. Therefore, I started to plan my schedule by first writing down, on a piece of paper the existing personal
...g too fast and there is nothing that can be done to change that, and unfortunately I must keep up with the never ending changes. While attempting to keep up with this fast paced world by furthering my education, and working my fingers to the bone to pay for things that have become so expensive, regrettably my schedule does not allow for an acceptable amount of time to spend with my family and friends or doing things that bring me enjoyment. Moreover, the reality is that by using my smartphone for what I can do myself, my own personal growth is hindered, but more importantly, I have the feeling that living means racing towards the future. Today I have the feeling that “getting ahead” means less time with my family and that causes my blood pressure to surge. No, I do not like this fast-paced impersonal world nor do I like to hear “Hello, please press one for English!”
I adopted a strategy that emphasized balance in my everyday life. I made adjustments in my life at the university like getting more sleep and actually having at least an hour a day to relax and read or to do whatever I like. By creating a healthy balance between school work and “me” time, I have felt happier and had more drive to do school work because I did not feel like I was drowning from never ending work.
Having great time management is a technique that one has to learn to use if one wants to be successful in life. One had to realize that it was time to stop playing and get serious about one's grades. One did not want to end up out of the program that one was in. alos one did not want to make bad impression on one’s self to colleges. Colleges look at one’s transcript from the time one gets in highschool til’ the time one graduates. One did not colleges to not accept one. One’s grades depend one’s future. That future can either be good or god. One needs to chose if one wants a wonderful future or a terrible
What do we know about time management? As adults we should know a lot about time management. We all strive to become the best that we can be. This alone should encourage us to learn about time management. Every aspect of our lives depends on it. If we try to plan, organize, and execute our ideas most of the time we can manage it well, but when we go the other route, and jump out there feet first, most of the time we do not do as well. This is not the case in every light, but usually it is the norm. Even as we sit in class trying to better ourselves by improving on our education, we learn that we must manage time to the best of our abilities. This is not done only for school, but for our families for those of us that have children and spouses. A lot of the time, we manage to get everything done and leave ourselves out in the cold when it comes to making time for ourselves. If it is not our job or school we are trying to meet someone else's needs.
There have been tons of things that I have learned and been taught in my life, by a number of people such as family, teachers, or even friends on occasion. The things they taught me vary from math and other related subjects to just some truly simple yet meaningful life lessons. However, there is nothing quite as unique, quite as special as a person teaching themselves a life lesson. It really is an amazing accomplishment for a person to teach themselves something. It is not quite as simple as another person teaching them something because it is not just the transferring of information from one person to another. The person instead has to start from scratch and process the information they have in their mind in order to come up with a new thought
A dream of mine has always been to be the first in my family to go to college and receive a degree. In order to succeed, I knew I had to learn to manage my disability. Even though, it takes me longer to prepare for school I have found methods to help me succeed. I listen to alternative music to block out distracting noises, and organize my work by prioritizing and using color-coded folders for each subject. A week before major exams, I start preparing by studying and mapping out my time, making this typically stressful week more manageable. These strategies, and many others, help me surpass expectations. Finally, I accomplished some of my goals. I received Dean's List honors all four years during high school. In addition to academics, I use my study habits to partake in extracurricular activities. The position as the Editor-in-Chief for my school's yearbook required me to manage my time and manage it we...
