The strengths of this design is that there are so many resources available for veterans for free to help improve their skills or learn a new skill. Some states offer more resources for veterans than others and many employers are given incentive just for hiring a veteran. In addition, by design this program I really did not have to spend any money on any assessment. The only weakness is when designing this assessment there is no way to determine the validity and reliability.
It is how you make many educational decisions regarding the classroom. My CT stated that she knew how most of the students would do but there were a few that surprised her. Having this digital way of assessment is also convenient for parent reference. The students individual scores are easy to print and also the classroom scores are given to the principal for review. It is a smooth, efficient and manageable way to assess the students equally. Assessments like this could also be helpful in creating a seating arrangement or partner system. I think it is beneficial to pair lower and higher skilled students together. You could use the higher skilled students to help teach other students. Students teaching students can be a valuable resource to struggling
The Clifton StrengthsFinder assessment with a fun experience that provided very useful information about myself. The questions were interesting and thought provoking. However, the time limit on each question meant that most responses were my first instinct or gut response. I think the time limit keeps a person from over thinking the questions and makes them respond with an answer that is true to who they are. I agree with the five strongest areas identified in my assessment which were strategic, futuristic, learner, command, and ideation (Clifton, Anderson, & Schreiner, 2006)
They use medication and alcohol for sleeping because they obsess that enemies are coming, they need more consciousness to fight back.
In this book, the authors Tom Rath and Barry Conchie examine the question “What are the keys to being an effective leader?” To answer this question they had a team that reviewed data collected from Gallup polls. The data came from interviews from 20,000 senior leaders, over a million teams and more than fifty years of Gallup Polls of the most admired leaders in the world. The authors then had the team do a study of more than 10,000 followers to find out why they follow the influential leaders in their life.
“Serving those who have served” (About Disabled American Veterans 1). This is the mission statement of the DAV, or the Disabled American Veterans. The DAV helps thousands of disabled American veterans in their life after war.
After taking the Personal Assessment Literacy Survey, I learned a lot about myself and what I do know about assessments, and what I don’t. This survey allowed me to reflect on the process that I take to plan, develop, and administer tests in my class and what I need to do with the results. When I went through the criteria of all of the topics in the survey, I honestly did not know what the survey was talking about or what it meant. This was really concerning to me because I like to think that I do a pretty good job when it comes to instruction of my class and how I assess their knowledge of the material. I learned from this survey that there are a lot of things I do well during assessments and that there is still a lot that I need to learn to be an effective classroom leader.
In my paper regarding strength assessments from the Rath’s Strengths Finder 2.00 (Rath) I learned how it can improve the development of my leadership. About a year ago I took the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator assessment (The Myers & Briggs Foundation); I was identified as an ENTJ and ENFJ (split personality). I recently took another assessment detailing with my style (Style Analysis). The strength finder 2.0 assessment defined my top five leadership strengths; the Myers Briggs defined my personality; and this new assessment defining my style behavior. These assessments are very valuable in knowing who I am as a leader. Leadership is about getting others to accomplish goals bigger than themselves. That requires motivation. Now that I understand more about myself and my leadership style, how can I use this knowledge to motivate and persuade others?
Understanding one’s strengths and weaknesses is essential to becoming and being a good leader. “Purposeful leaders understand who they are” (Mayfield, 2013). The author of this paper has had previous opportunities to lead, and will reflect on her experiences using the assigned inventory. She will evaluate her skill set and discuss ways she can be an advocate for change with the hospital and community in which she is employed. Lastly, she will identify one personal goal for her leadership growth and explore different avenues for obtaining that goal.
When taking the two different personality tests, I received the same result for both. I am considered to have an ISFJ (Introvert, Sensing, Feeling, and Judging) personality type. These personality tests I believe help believe get more in depth with the type of person they are but also help them to see there are other people in the world that are like them. A few known people that are similar to my personality type are mother Teresa, and Barbra Bush. Along with learning about others like me, I was able to realize more into my strengths and weaknesses.
Veterans have manifested significant mental or behavioral health issues and in turn, health care services have been set to respond to their needs through educating community health care providers to work with veterans, service members and their families. As Zeiss & Karlin (2008) demonstrates, health care system has partnered with national organizations, health services, resources administration and other major mental projects that target the veterans to ensure effective services to mental health concerns. There are many inter-professional roles geared towards veterans due to their wide-range of mental issues including physicians, psychologists, social workers, substance abuse professionals, licensed counselors, public health workers, therapists related to marriage and family issues, nurses, chaplains, law enforcement and occupational therapists. In the course of this discussion, the way veterans mental issues has been addressed will be constricted to nursing setting to describe the scope, severity, behavioral health issues and responses among veterans.
U.S. veterans have helped the life I and many others live in, in so many different ways. If it weren’t for them fighting in the war for our independence we might be in the country of England with a queen and were we don’t get to pick who leads us. Veterans have helped by fighting for getting rid of slavery, like if it wasn’t for them my step-dad might be working for some random slave owner I probably wouldn’t have met him. They helped find terrorists like Osama bin Laden, he might have still been out planning terrorism if veterans didn’t fight to find and kill him. To be a veteran means you had the courage and strength to fight for other people no matter the cost even when you knew you could’ve died out there.
I am happy with my scores from the VIA Survey of Charter Strengths. I found the scores to be fitting with who I am. My top strength was spirituality, sense of purpose, and faith. The questionnaire says that, “my beliefs shape my actions and are a source of comfort.” I grew up in a Christian home and then over my high school years lost my spiritual connection. My first son was born and shortly after that I was drawn back to having a relationship with God. I have worked hard to understand where I want to be with my faith and now feel that my spirituality is stronger then it has even been. My relationship with God absolutely gives me a purpose, shapes my actions, and is a source of comfort. I can use this strength in my career because I feel that
On November 11th America honors their veterans, but is one day to celebrate enough considering they risked their lives for our freedom. We take a day to honor these heroic men and women who put themselves aside to be dedicated to helping americans achieve the freedom they deserve. There are many little things to make them feel like they made the right choice to serve you and your country. Up until this point I haven’t really thought about how we can give back to our veterans. As I sit and think about the many ways we can give back there is way too many to count.
Upon completion of the strength finder report, five themes were listed as a top five in matching the personality of the participant. Moreover, the top five themes that matched were Input, Discipline, Arranger, Belief, and Responsibility. The results of these strengths should help in understanding the unique talents the participant may portray, along with knowledge in helping put those strengths into actions, and finally how to use these strengths in working with others. Through reflection of the top five themes, there are definite talents within each theme that reinforces what an effective leader depicts. Becoming an effective leader takes not only initiative, but willingness to make mistakes and learn through these
I ended up contacting 3 of my family members, and I told them to be brutality honest with me. I also told them whatever they said to me would not hurt my feelings. The four people I contacted where my brother, mom and dad. My mom said that I am a hard worker and feel the need to compete tasks fast, that I am a very loyal friend, and I am very determined to succeed in life. She said for my weaknesses that I can sometimes be selfish when it comes to work because I care about me succeeding more then others, she also said that me being a loyal friend is also a weakness because I care about them as much as I care about myself, and finally she said that I can sometimes get distracted easily. According to my brother my strengths are that I am very studious when it comes to school and work, also that I am very determined in life,
