My motivations for the study of the social sciences, are that i am at a time in my life where i feel that learning and expanding my academic knowledge is one of, if not the most important goal of mine in the way of personal growth and development. I spent my time through high school thinking academic work was really hard, because i 'had' to do it, but the more i look back on it since, I see that it wasn't the work itself that was hard, it was the motivation to apply myself that was the hard work, because i had no real interest or passion driving me to excel. History and English seemed to be 2 of my natural strengths,as when having to research something related to either fields, it seemed as though i did not really have to try that hard and i was able to end up with good results that seemed to have thought and meaning, as i have come to realize that these 2 classes were just the 2 that i had natural interest in, there it was not the same method of learning i was so used to experience from seemingly forced classes. I have been working hospitality whilst completing my high school education, and afterwards onto full time once finished school. as it is the biggest entry level job in a hospitality driven town such as Daylesford. I tried as many areas to try my hand and find the position within hospitality that best suited me, as i was still trying to work out where my interests lay before i committed to a career. Within hospitality i would generally be hired as a kitchen hand, and move up the ranks due to opportunity of a position opening and me proving my capabilities. I had an opportunity. I would have to say my skill sets are mainly developed within field of hospitality, where i was taught a range of necessary skills required to oper... ... middle of paper ... ... nature and thought process that would be of benefit to a field such as the social sciences. I worked part time hospitality whilst attending high school. Then upon completing my VCE started full time work in hospitality. I then spent a lot of time trying my hand a various jobs in a bid to find a job that suited me to the point i wanted to gain further understanding, training and employment in. So i did cooking and front of house in hospitality, labouring for a builder, landscape gardeners, domestic gardening and domestic house painting. I have been fortunate enough to have had the opportunity to travel abroad on 2 occasions. I spent 4 months in Canada, working and living at a ski resort during the snow season. I had an opportunity to go and experience Japan as my mother worked a resedency as a musician. So i was able to gain a taste for the language and culture.
Living in Italy showed me how much I had to be grateful for. I saw firsthand another culture’s day-to-day lifestyle. Italian culture isn’t as fast-paced as American culture. Their slower pace forces you to appreciate a little more of what each day offers. My job was as an Au pair which is a live-in nanny/teacher for the family’s children. Most
new people as well as see new cultures. It has always been a dream of mine to travel
When I graduated from High School in Brazil, I already knew my passion: hospitality. I have always loved the hospitality career, from cooking, to making a bed, serving a table, or doing check-in/out. I can admit that hospitality life is not easy; most of the times you have to work on weekends, holidays and give up a little bit of your social life to serve other people. However, if this is your passion, all those "sacrifices" are worthy when you can provide a wonderful service to a
...going to elementary school, along with my father studying and receiving a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science. At the age of 8, my family moved to Dallas, Texas because my father got a job there. My little brother started kindergarten, and we lived there for 2 years, and moved again to Montreal, Canada, when I was going into 5th grade. I had to take one French class because it was the second language of Quebec, a state in Canada where Montreal was located in. But it was fascinating to learn a new language other than my mother language and English. I spent 2 years in Montreal, and then finally in 7th grade, I moved to Denver, Colorado. I had to move from different places and schools, which partially was a disruption to my education and partially not because I learned the different cultures that exists in just two different countries, located in the same continent.
In 2010, I moved to Italy to become an Au Pair for two years. This was a big decision for me because I wasn’t able to speak Italian and hadn’t ever lived so far away from my family and friends before. I felt I needed this experience to push my boundaries and broaden my horizons. It was amazing to experience another country’s culture so authentically. Living in Italy made me realize how grateful, fortunate, and capable I truly am.
In the summer of 2013 I had a life changing experience when on the first day of the climbing season I slept at the peak of Mount Fuji. It was there on the roof of Japan as I watched the sunrise, I fell in love with the beautiful of the Japan. The idea of returning to Japan was always something first and foremost on my list. I returned home and enrolled in a Bachelors program so that I could qualify to teach there.

My ardent desire to acquire knowledge has motivated me to pursue higher studies at graduate level, and to take up a career in research in industry. The most significant job that I have held in the past was being a waitress in an Chinese restaurant. And a week later as expected I became a?waitress?in the A Hong Hong kong & Vietnamese restaurant.
Asia was awesome! Everything, from the food I ate to the people I met, gave me a new perspective on life. I still cannot get over the fact that I have traveled to the other side of the world. This school program gave me many memorable experiences, allowed me to learn a lot about the culture of Asia, and introduced me to friends that I'll treasure for a life time. I knew that there was a reason I got to go, and while I was there I tried to make the most of such an opportunity.
Academic study is necessary to help an individual to adjust themselves to the society .It combines certain values in individuals which could serve them in life, in events that goes beyond institutional boundaries. For example, a person who has received formal education will be able to distinguish between what is right for them and what is not. Others, they learn only through their own experience. It provides an academic body of values which can be used to carry out practical work. It is used to encourage stability in individuals. While in grade school, I had many dreams of what my intended profession was going to be. Examples of a few include; meteorologist, storm chaser, respiratory therapist, fashion designer, and dental hygienist. While I had many great influential people in my life time, I was greatly influenced while I was in high school by my family and consumer science teacher Mrs. Pompy Womplebottom. While I was never a student who made the highest of grades, I was a student who was willing to learn and accept the things that I could not change. After graduation from high school I knew which college I was go...
I was able to spend a lot of time with my family, our friends, and play all sorts of games. This experience made me start to like traveling. Every time I would get the chance to travel, I will take that chance. We were able to go to a theme park, eat many delicious foods, and play many video
The modern social sciences came out of the older, established humanistic traditions (i.e. history, philosophy, morals, etc.) that were dominated by upper class intellectuals (not associated with academic institutions), government officials, and religious instructors (i.e. clergymen). Clergymen often addressed social scientific topics such as political economy and philosophical psychology (that had been established in Britain and other foreign nations) in their courses on moral and mental philosophy. During the same period, independent academics and government officials began to lay the foundation for the modern social sciences. Social scientific topics were included in the research
The world is full of wonders and once-in-a-lifetime opportunities, that we take advantage of. Traveling is the ultimate education and it never fails as a teacher. It teaches you things no class can about the world and yourself. Seeing a historical spot and being in the environment it is in teaches you what no text book can. Most people hear about what is happening in the world through the bias not understanding media. However, if you are a traveler the real world influences you in a way the media will never be able to. We understand how the world works with its many cultures and lifestyles. Being a part of and experiencing different cultures broadens your views of the world and changing’s what you think of the world. Having expanded knowledge and understanding about culture is not the only thing travelers have. Finding your true self and learning about who you are is the best thing about being a traveler. There is no better way to find yourself because when you travel you open yourself up to millions of opportunities. Without travel you may be completely unaware of your true persona. Your limits are tested and you are completely out of your comfort zone when traveling. Getting out of the comfort zone helps you grow as a person and see your potential. I have experienced many different cultures that have personally changed myself and my outlook of the world. Traveling has given me the greatest education I know more about the world, cultures, and myself. Being a traveler is a huge blessing in my life I am so glad I am able to travel and see the world. Nothing can take away the memories that traveling and being a traveler has brought me. Get out there and see this beautiful world for yourself and become a traveler, you will not regret
