Growing up something that always concerned me was people’s behavior, why they chose one thing and not the other, why some were happy and others were not. Based on this you would assume that studying psychology was a natural response but it was not. I had reached my senior year in high school feeling unsure about what I wanted to do with the rest of my life. I remember filling out college applications and feeling reluctant over what to put down as a major. I had narrowed down my choices to history or psychology. I was afraid I would choose the wrong one and that I would finish like many other students; being unhappy in my decision and changing my major multiple times. Eventually I did chose and after three years of studying psychology I find myself feeling excited and confident about my future in this field.
I spent my first two years of college studying psychology in Puerto Rico at an Adventist University. The psychology program did not have a lot of students but in a way it was a good thing because it helped us get to know each other better. We all came from different places, diffe...
Choosing a career path was not easy. I wanted to be able to do so many task that did not fit into certain criteria. My main goal in life is to be able to help those that need support. Getting a psychology degree was a leverage because I could get my degree in this field and use it to help others out. I wanted to be a psychodynamic therapist when I started classes, but after finding out there are more career paths available, I decided to enter the work force of being a victim advocate.
It is hard to pinpoint the exact moment I knew I wanted to become a psychologist because as previously stated, the journey is complex and dates back to my childhood. When I was four years old, my parents adopted my 14 year old cousin after both her parents passed away. Her father died of AIDS while in
I’ve been fortunate in the sense that my major is something that I’m extremely passionate about. They don’t teach much about psychology in high school
The letter of intent is one of the legal documents that is used in the initial stages of negotiation, for example, during the acquisition or disposal of a business. Letter of Intent, legally, is very confusing. In law, we either have a contract or don’t. Letter of Intent clearly states that it is not a formal agreement and then often proceeds to set forward agreed terms for the proposed transaction. Generally from the paradox, if the deal goes wrong or if there is a problem with the deal, One party can argue that a party agreed to the deal is a complete agreement, a binding contract and, in some cases, the party relied upon the Letter of Intent will have monetary damages based on its reliance on LOI. Therefore there is no simple answer whether the LOI is binding or not. The LOI can be binding, cannot be binding, some parts binding and some parts not binding.
I expect that graduate work at the University of Somewhere will be demanding, challenging, and exciting, and I look forward to attending a program of this sort. During my time in graduate school I expect to receive the opportunity to learn, grow, and evolve as a person and a psychologist.
My first semester in college, I took a Psychology 101 course and immediately knew I wanted to work in this field. I was drawn into different theories and how individual’s minds work. I always believed I was born to help others and guide them to success in life. I desire to help others because of my own personal struggles with mental illness. My unique perspective on mental illness allows me to empathize on a different level with individuals. I desire to give back and support to the community the way it was there for me during my dark times. I was lucky to have known from the start that psychology was my interest. I am excited to continue my education in the counseling field and become a future Clinical Mental Health Counselor.
“Psychology helps to measure the probability that an aim is attainable” (Thorndike, 2015). When someone takes a class about psychology they can learn things they can use in everyday life. This psychology course I took taught me many things I can use toward my life and my future career. I plan to continue my education after high school, and go to college for a business degree. Some people may not associate psychology with business, but ever since I have learned about psychology I realized some things do relate between business and psychology. Since psychology is the study of the human mind, people who work in business can run into people, situations, or problems that relate to the human mind. Three things that I have learned in this course,

My interest in human behavior and the underlying thought processes that motivate behavior began as a young child. My family moved frequently when I was growing up and as a result I attended many different schools. While this was not always an easy process, it provided me the opportunity to not only meet many different types of people, but to witness the complex interplay between unique personalities and varying social contexts that influence an individual’s behavior and thought processes. Despite my lifelong interest in psychology, I began my undergraduate career as an adult student and single parent with the intent of pursuing a degree in business administration. I felt that this path made logical sense considering my work history and background, however in my first semester I was fortunate enough to take an introduction to psychology course that rekindled my passion for the subject. My experience in this course prompted me to change my major to psychology and has allowed me to flourish both personally and academically. It has also lead me to my goal of obtaining a PhD is social psychology with which I
I am applying for admission to the Ph.D. program in Applied Health Sciences because I want a career in the research and teaching of Exercise Physiology and Environmental Medicine. In particular, I am interested in factors that affect the human responses to exercise in extreme conditions, and the manner in which changes in thermoregulation, metabolic changes, blood chemistry occurs when the human body is subjected under various harsh environmental conditions like heat, altitude or cold. In order to gain an appreciation of these and related issues, it is essential for me to have a strong grounding in Human Physiology, Biochemistry, and issues connected with Exercise Physiology, as well as gain a perspective in environmental physiology.
In my second year of university I decided biology is not what I wanted to pursue. I didn’t feel that biology peaked my interest enough for me to do as well as I would like. Also I felt as though there wouldn’t be a way for me to further my career with biology, in the chance that I didn’t attend medical school. Psychology has always been an interest of mine but I did not think about pursuing it as a career until now.
When I was in seventh grade I saw a video about a an abused child who was raised in horrible conditions. When the girl was discovered by child welfare authorities they noticed that even though she was thirteen she still could not talk and had various psychological issues. This video really opened my eyes and made me realize how humans are psychologically affected by so many factors. After watching the video I wanted to learn more about psychology because I understood the importance of it for the first time in my life. I was very fasinated and at age twelve I decided that I wanted to major in psychology when I entered university.
My life has been a roller coaster ride with a lot of up and down moments. My roller coaster ride helped to realize what I wanted to study in college. I feel that I have a strong passion about psychology; I want to learn everything that I could, so I could be able to assist people. Everyone is passionate about a certain aspects of life, but I’m very passionate about my career. A passion is a strong feeling and sometime a controllable emotion that can make a difference in someone work ethic. During my career I want to be able to make a difference in other people lives. My passion for helping people came from my family experience, educational, work, and career goals. I feel that the passion that I have for helping people is
In this ever evolving world, being able to establish a consistent area of interest is as elusive as being able to choose the perfect car. Every new course promises a new career option, every new research area hints at a new profession and every new product beckons future upgradation. This plethora of choices either inspires or perplexes. In my case I was lucky to experience the former outcome. The branch of mechanical engineering lured me into its reassuring yet exciting embrace at a very early age. The idea of a conventional mother branch like mechanical engineering conceiving advanced interdisciplinary design based applications like biomechanics, robotics seemed irresistible. The passion for science was already deep founded in me during my school days when I used to build various projects and models in science fair each year. My first multidisciplinary project was a fabricated human model to demonstrate the blood circulatory system by making use of mini centrifugal pump, red colored water and transparent pipes.
However, after talking with my advisor I was told that I would be able to go into psychology with a bachelor’s degree in social work. My advisor also told me that the professions are similar. I took her advice and started a new goal, to get my BSW. Coming into my first class on the field of social work, I wasn’t too sure what to expect. All I knew is that the profession was connected to helping people. After learning more about the profession and the wide range of options that accompany it, I started to get excited. I could work with many different types of people on a range of issues and changing which area I work in would be relatively easy. I have always wanted to help people with mental health issues and I thought that social workers only did that in school settings. Learning that I just needed to get my Masters to be able to do therapy made me feel great about choosing to become a social worker. Having options has made my college experience better by getting me excited for what the future holds.
