In this ever evolving world, being able to establish a consistent area of interest is as elusive as being able to choose the perfect car. Every new course promises a new career option, every new research area hints at a new profession and every new product beckons future upgradation. This plethora of choices either inspires or perplexes. In my case I was lucky to experience the former outcome. The branch of mechanical engineering lured me into its reassuring yet exciting embrace at a very early age. The idea of a conventional mother branch like mechanical engineering conceiving advanced interdisciplinary design based applications like biomechanics, robotics seemed irresistible. The passion for science was already deep founded in me during my school days when I used to build various projects and models in science fair each year. My first multidisciplinary project was a fabricated human model to demonstrate the blood circulatory system by making use of mini centrifugal pump, red colored water and transparent pipes.
KIT’s College of Engineering, which is the premier engineering college affiliated to Shivaji University, India, was my platform for undergraduate studies in Mechanical Engineering. Along with satisfactory academics, I explored the field of mechanical engineering by developing innovative projects and participating in numerous competitions. My winning an international technical event at Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay in 2012 was one personal milestone. In this event, I had designed a device capable of climbing ropes using hydraulic power and it was fabricated using medical syringes. Also, in my 5th semester, I had developed a pneumatic cannon which could bombard projectiles up to 150 meters accurately by varying th...

...sign projects in the center have also grabbed my attention. Having gone through course titles like ‘Advanced Product Design’, ‘Graduate Design Projects’, ‘Medical Device Design’, ‘Mechatronics and Robotics 1’ and others in the list have further invoked in me a very strong desire to be a part of this enriching environment.
I do hope to be positively considered, therefore to allow my interests to evolve fruitfully. At my end I will be very happy to contribute my knowledge and keen research aptitude to the program in best way possible. I hope to further justify this opportunity by seeking relevant industrial experience and ultimately venturing into independent product and device development. My entrepreneurial objective will not only serve to satiate my own professional aim, but if successful, will serve to fulfil the social aspect of scientific studies at large.
These studies, in my opinion, hold to be necessary on my intended path to research breast cancer, and hopefully extend my investigations and findings to other types of cancerous diseases as well. Besides that, these degrees could not only be useful for research on cancer, but also in other types of disease research or development of modern technologies with the focus on sharpened imaging and detection, regenerative technologies, and biomechanics. That is why I also desire to apply my outstanding analytic and problem solving skills to extend my horizons. Therefore, I aim to earn a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineer before completing graduate school or medical school, which would succor my future in research activities. Thus, I know that in order for to develop the latest technology additional fields of study remain necessary to create a cutting-edge and satisfactory solution to resolve a
During my interview, I spoke with Keven Carpenter, founder of Porticos. Porticos is a mechanical engineering firm which specializes in product development. From attending this interview, I learned that mechanical engineering can be both rewarding and devastating. For example, most of the time, mechanical engineers in product development do not get patents and projects are often discarded. However, there are instances where a project became implemented in everyday technology and becomes patented. According to Kevin, this is an overwhelming rewarding experience, that many engineers and unable to participate
Additionally, walking into the gymnasium that was filled with career booth’s sparked my curiosity. The first booth I walked to was, Brazosports Robotics booth. The first thing I saw being presented by the volunteers that we’re working the booth was a fascinating contraption the students of Brazosport created which was exceptionally put together, and well designed. The robotic machine left me in such fascination and awe. This experience with the robotics booth contributed majorly to the reasoning of my likeness towards the mechanical field since robtics and mechanical engineering are very similar.
