1. I am interested in aiding as an assistant for the H2wOw: Wonders of Water course. While browsing the different courses for Summer STEAM, I found this course, and immediately knew it was for me. I've always had a fascination for water and its resources. In 2014, I attended a summer camp at the University of Virginia. While I was there, I visited a water treatment plant. I was aghast at the things I encountered. It is amazing how people take polluted waters, and decontaminate them. I was so amazed, that I did a science fair project related to water in the 7th grade. I tested 3 different natural organic sorbents to see which one worked the best at cleaning oil out of unsanitary water. I was triumphant with this project, and I learned about the damages of water pollution.

2. Being at Summer STEAM really changed my life. When I returned to school, I incorporated some of the things I learned from Summer STEAM, to help me with my work. In math class, we began learning about the y and x intercept, because we had learned how to graph them on a calculator at Summer STEAM, it was easier for me to complete my work. Summer STEAM also helped me to work in groups more efficiently. I learned that if we all work together, things can get down quicker and success is more guaranteed. My experience at Summer STEAM definitely helped me when I returned home. When I returned to school, I got to share some of the things I learned at Summer STEAM with my math and technology teachers. While I was at Summer STEAM, my group and I created an app that solved quadratic and linear equations. I had so much fun creating the app and it was a great experience. I got to browse and explore the world of coding and technology. Creating the app was something new for me and it helped me in my technology class when we started coding. Summer STEAM helped me to be familiar with coding so it wasn't as difficulty when I started it in
