STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

Engineering fascinated me since the time I understood the pull back mechanism of my toy car. It was simple and the momentum it provided was a source of pure thrill. In the last four years as a student of Mechanical engineering I have come to understand, appreciate and acquire far more advanced and complex phenomena, processes and skills encompassing Thermodynamics, Dynamics of Machines, and CAD/CAM. Yet what truly piqued my interest were courses that taught me about enhancing processes, that prescribed efficacy, those that combined management principles and engineering concepts. I sought the space where my knowledge of engineering would create an impact on not just how products are manufactured, but how well and feasibly it is possible for them to be made. I believe that developing any novel technology alone isn’t sufficient all by itself, rather the application of engineering methods and technologies to business practices would be the ethos governing the successful implementation of any product in today's challenging and competitive global marketplace. I have always believed, ‘To improve is to change; to be perfect is to change often’. It has come to be the talisman on which I wish to base my future career.
As I look back I can see several key points in my life that have led me to my current decision to apply to the Master’s program in Engineering Management. The first crucial step was to gain admission into one of India’s top Engineering colleges. ...listic mentoring, and cutting edge research and innovation. As a student of this course I will not only be learning vertically but laterally as well, finding new depths as well as new paradigms. I aspire to gain knowledge through courses such as Principles of Engineering Management, Management of Technology Change, Statistical Methods for Engineering Managers,Technical Entrepreneurship, Technology and Markets to lay a strong foundation for my future endeavors in terms of thought-processes, interaction skills as well as abilities relating to Statistics and Project management. What I seek is multidisciplinary and at University of South Florida such knowledge is approached as a harmonious blend of skills aimed at creating an environment of growth for industries.
I earnestly look forward to receiving your decision and recommendations as I march forward in my endeavors.
