Maybe it was a presentation at work or school. Perhaps at a town meeting where you really wanted to say something on a particular topic but felt paralyzed to get up there. Maybe you were the “Best Man” or “Bridesmaid” at a friend’s wedding. I remember the very first time for me like it was yesterday. I was 11 years old. Following a long year of accordion lessons our music school had a “recital”. Each of the students had to perform one piece they had been practicing. I was never more scared in my life. I actually felt weak in the knees as my turn came. In the end what got me through was a kindly lady who sat in the front row and looked up smiling at me. I riveted my gaze on her and somehow made it through. I will never forget that afternoon, or the power of a
So relax and have fun. Acting is serious, but you can still have a good time.
• Pretend your just practicing at home or somewhere with your friends.
• First practice in front of family and then friends, soon you will be on the stage making everyone cheer and clap!
• Sometimes it's okay to be a little nervous. If you are so paranoid you are going to make a mistake, then you will be more careful. It's the overly confident people that make the most mistakes.
• Remember, fear and exhilaration are the same thing. It's just your attitude to it that decides whether you dread it or are excited by it.
• If you mess up a step when dancing, no one will ever know, unless you stop. Continue and they will think it is part of the dance. Same with the script, the audience doesn't know it, so don't worry if you miss one line, and have to improvise, just keep going.
• If you forget a word, don't just stop, continue. Try to use other words that weren't in the script. If your scene partner makes a mistake, don't react to it. Simply ignore the mistake, or, if it was too large to let pass, improvise around the error. Ability to improvise is the mark of a true
Have you ever had something ever get to you or make you you scared? That is called fear and tons an tons of people have different fears. Fear is an emotion that makes you feel afraid or something is frighten. Some fears many include spiders, clowns and even death. ‘’Fear Prompts Teens To Act Impulsively’’ by Laura Sanders, ‘’Stress for Success’’ by Alison Pearce, and ‘’And Uncomfortable Bed’’ By Guy Maupassant all explain the idea of fear.
Performing or public speaking of any kind is difficult, but that difficulty can help to build confidence. Fine arts gives students the ability to perform and build confidence with their own support team of people who do and love the same thing. Not having to perform alone and knowing that everything possible has been done to ensure a good performance helps performers be confident in themselves and in their abilities. “Puneet Jacob, former choristers and current assistant conductor, says kids are often afraid to perform because of fear of failure.” (Lefebvre) The more a person faces their fear, especially when they do well and the fear is disproved, the less afraid he or she will become. When students work on music or a play for months on end, they become much more confident in themselves and what they can do than they were when they first began.
My senior year in high school I did a presentation. In this presentation, my group had to create a business. We decided to create a music school. I had a powerpoint slide, a board, and a guitar. I played and sang one song. Than my teacher asked me to do another song. Than she asked for a third song and when I said no she threatened my grade. My biggest challenge was facing my fear of singing in front of my peers. I learned that even though I was scared at first, breaking that boundary of shyness got me a good
During my demonstration speech, I was affected by my speech anxiety. Some of the viewable symptoms were the shaking of my hands and also the stuttering of speech. I was able to control myself and relax after I started getting into my information. I did use some of the suggested relaxation techniques to relieve my anxiety. Before I got up to speak I thought confident of myself to help give me courage and confidence.
Writing a script that will not overshadow the contribution of mise-en-scene in either of the scenes, yet fulfill its role as an accomplice in creation of scenarios.
Music Performance Anxiety is a serious topic of issue for all musicians. Sometimes reaching a debilitating level in which a social phobia is formed, Music Performance Anxiety is a medical condition with which to become familiar especially as a person in the performing arts. There is a plethora of research and literature on this focal anxiety in general musicians, but one must beg the question- what about singers? Vocalists have a unique predicament in that their instrument is within their body. If Music Performance Anxiety is fed in a physiological fashion, vocalists could be at a severe disadvantage compared to their instrumentalist counterparts. The research on this specific topic has begun to be explored, but the number is quite low in the

Now in elementary school though I had my one and only lead as Swingle Cringle, but that was all the way back in the fifth grade. Which means I have gotten a little rusty over time and also means that I have one of the worst show resumes someone has ever seen. But that didn’t get me down. I still auditioned like everyone else but much to not only my surprise but also my moms surprise I was casted as Crony 1 for Beauty and The Beast but I was also casted as the only male lead dancer. This means that I got one whole line; “Crazy ol’ Maurice!” but it also means that I was good enough to be with the top dancers in the show. This really made me see that I am special and that I have some sort of talent. Yet it was something that I learned about within theater that truly helped me with my
One component of test anxiety is called the emotional component. It includes different kinds of physiological responses, such as sweaty palms, increased heart rate, and dry mouth. Experiencing this component of test anxiety causes stress, which can interfere with processing information and increase the chances of making mistakes. To reduce the emotional component, researchers have found that students should participate in relaxation exercises.
People with social anxiety may usually experience extreme distress in some of these situations: when they are being introduced to other people, being teased or criticized, being the center of attention, meeting important people or authoritative people, being watched while doing something, having to announce something in a public situation, embarrassing easily, or making eye contact. Social anxiety may be selective, though. A person may have an extreme fear of one occasion, such as public speaking, but be perfectly comfortable in any other situation.

“Acting is not about being someone different. It’s finding the similarity in what is apparently different, then finding myself in there.” ― Meryl Streep. I love exploring and gaining knowledge about the beautiful craft of acting. During my journey of being an actor, I notice there are two types of actors: stage and film. Stage and film actors are different in their times of rehearsal, their relationship with an audience, and their emotional challenges.
